Unbelievable, actually cried when I saw this from South Central Nebraska. Love you guys. Still restoring floors and staircases. Recovering from an accident with a table saw. Working at getting function back. Left hand. Pinky knuckle up to ring finger. Out of commission 2 months, but just getting back in the saddle. Hopeful for the future! Seeing this video is probably the coolest thing I've seen for a long time. Live life now, the future is unknown, experience the beauty of nature, it's our gift from the Creator. Sail on mate's

Hi Craig! Thanks for watching! That Barkley Sound trip was epic! Just wait for the video of Chris and Andrew visiting Sitka, Alaska.... should be out in a month or two. You'll enjoy that as well. Glad to hear you are on the mend- stay busy, keep healthy, and give those dogs of yours a belly rub for us. Thinking about ya!

I really appreciate you guys breaking down the fishing gear for us, means a lot to me :) I haven't been fishing since I was 17-18 (34 now) and my lil Girl is keen to fish while we go sailing. So the lay out of the equipment was really nice! It will hopefully help my lil girl and I put some fish on the table :) Also we were using chicken just outside of victoria for Crab.. seemed to bring them in like flies Dungeness at least :)

We're not pro fishers but these lures bring up the fish! We are patiently waiting for crab season to open here in the states. Simply can't wait to our hands on some Dungeness! Thanks for watching- totally appreciated your support!

The shot of the chart plotter and the sonar with all the fish at 8:52 shows that the vessel is in the middle or the Folger Passage rockfish conservation area. There is no fishing allowed in this area in order to protect fish species such as lingcod and rockfish.
@CruisingMaya4 жыл бұрын
Fear not we were careful to abide by the fishing rules- We use navionics and they have the folger passage area clearly marked on there so they make it easy to follow the rules.
@danturner36524 жыл бұрын
I do fear that some folks may look at the shot of your chart plotter where your vessel did several drifts and believe that this is a good fishing spot. Just to be clear to anyone reading this, this is in the middle of the Forger Passage rockfish conservation area where NO fishing is permitted! Anyone caught fishing in a rockfish conservation area are subject to some major fines.

Thank you so much! It's so fun to be able to share our experiences. This section of our trip was the biggest highlight. The fishing was great, but it was so good to see familiar faces after basically being alone for a month 😀. Still a long ways from being experts, but we're gonna keep fishing till it's not fun anymore and I dont see that happening any time soon!

I'd like to think these seemingly naive americans were following our regulations. I've noticed lots of barbs on their hooks, wild cohos are mostly a no-go, and there's slot regs on spring 24-33 something. This video made me uncomfortable

just found your video, great fishing. However you should read the fishing regulations regarding salmon fishing in Canadian waters. You are not permitted to use anything but single hooks with no barbs and your fish has to be properly package for transport to your residence. Not cut up in ziplock bags. I am sure that the regulation are similar in the US
@CruisingMaya3 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, we were misinformed on that and can assure you we are up to date on the regs now. Thanks for watching!

Hey guys maybe you can help me out. It looks like you're using a penn squall reel? And a penn rod? If so is your reel a 30 or a 50 Squall? And which rod are you using? And.... Are you happy with them? I'm on a baba 40 over in Bremerton and I'm looking to start learning to fish and I'd like to do some trolling all thru the region up there. Thanks for your help!!!
@CruisingMaya4 жыл бұрын
We are away from the boat right now, but I will get back to you! We have a Penn reel (not sure which model) and a Okuma reel. I would say the Penn reel is much higher quality than the Okuma. I have not been impressed the Okuma reel- some of the internal gears are plastic, which got mangled and we had to replace those gears (why would they make them plastic?!). We have not had any problems with our Penn reel to date. As far as rods, we have a big salmon rod (I don't recall the model), and we have an Ugly Stick (it's shorter than the salmon rod), that we use for jigging. We typically use the ugly stick, penn reel, with braided line combo, which is a really good for jigging. The setup really allows you to feel what's happening at the bottom. I'll get back to you on the model of the reel/rods.Be sure to get a diving planer too- we've had great success with our deep six diving planers. Thanks for the comment and best of luck fishing!

@@CruisingMaya wow thanks for taking the time to help me with all that info. That's going to help me a lot!!! I'll wait until i hear back on which penn reel to buy. (The 30 or the 50). @@ExileCinema just checked our setup and we have a Penn Squall 20LW that we use with 6.5' ugly stick and we have a Okuma cold water 203D reel that we use with our 9.5' okuma salmon rod. The okuma rod works well, the okuma reel is meh. And we love our penn squall reel- you can just tell its quality. Hope this helps your cause 🍻
