I've seen the reviews, seen the footage, but nothing comes close to this (especially in the world of anamorphic adapters) I've had a proximar + helios combination for 3 years and never had the time patience or courage to work with it seriously. Well, it's getting broken in this summer thanks to you!!!!!! bravo on your amazing and inspiring work!

Hey really loving this. This is definitely not the first time watching this, but I am really looking into buying a GH5! I have a question. At around 1:18, I see the flare vibrating. Is this because of the IBIS?
@ichidomo6 жыл бұрын
Hey singamorphic, thank you so much. I've been following your instagram and love your content as well. The vibrating flare is because of the IBIS however when I shot this they didn't have IBIS calibrated yet for 2x anamorphic, they only added it later on with firmware updates and proper 2x stretch calibrated IBIS. Hope this helps.

Amazing! Bringing down the sharpness has made a whole lot of difference as I find it extremely distracting in most GH5 footage. What is the ISO setting? Did you denoise at all in post?
@ichidomo7 жыл бұрын
No denoiser was used. I didn't go higher than 800 ISO to my surprise, a fair is pretty well lit, otherwise I would've overexposed the highlight background bokeh. -5 sharpness is recommended, looks more neutral, 0 still has digital sharpening to my eyes so with -5 you just turn it off.

Beautiful. Very sharp combination! Have you used it on a 35mm lens? Is there vignetting?
@ichidomo7 жыл бұрын
I tried with the sigma 18-35 at 35mm on the speedbooster. There's some vignetting, but with the lossless x1.4 ETC crop it doesn't. So it is possible but unpractical. Have tested it with other 35mm but those were unboosted. Will do some further testing with different taking lenses.

Absolutely beautiful. I always go back to watching this. Did you cut out the sides, because that doesn‘t look like a 2x stretch to me? The letterbox is way too subtle. I‘m just trying to figure that out because I thought the kowa 8z had a 2x stretch.
@ichidomo5 жыл бұрын
I didn't cut the sides, in fact this is pure 4:3 desqueezed by a ratio if 2 resulting in a 2.66:1 ratio which is thinner than the 'official' 2.39:1 ratio.
@alquimistadelaoscuridad7 жыл бұрын
did you use any kind of speedbooster? Im going to buy the gh5 plus the slr 35mm anamorphic lens, but I wanna know if there is really a necessity for sppedbooster. I mean, if you say no, then I feel that speedbooster can wait...sorry for saying speedbooster so much xD! thx and marvelous footage!.
@ichidomo7 жыл бұрын
+RVA films Hey, if you are referring to the SLR Magic 35mm T2.4 2x Anamorphot-CINE Lens with m4/3 mount then a speedbooster wouldn't make any sense since you can't adapt m4/3 to a speedbooster. It's already an anamorphic prime.

Could this similar look be achieved with a sigma 18-35mm?? Also please upload a video on how you color graded this 😭
@ichidomo7 жыл бұрын
+dayboyy1 The sigma will produce a very nice image but you can't mimic the 2x stretch FOV. You can however mimic the anamorphic vertical strechted bokeh by having an oval cut-out in front of your glass or at the back. But the anamorphic look of 2 focal lenghts in 1 shot can't be recreated with spherical glass in 16:9.
@dayboyy17 жыл бұрын
ichidomo ichidomo thank you for the reply! I wasn't necessarily looking for the 2 focal lengths in one shot, I just wanted to achieve the wide angle and cinematic look. Also thanks for putting the music in the description cause it's been on repeat for like 3 days now lol

@ichidomo6 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew thank you for the compliment! I recently deleted all references to the scopes I used due to an insane amount of traffic and questions with a lot of misunderstanding regarding anamorphic shooting and all the caveats. Also had different resellers linking my footage trying to make a buck and selling these scopes for insane high prices. I'll send you a message on facebook. :)
@EOSHDTV6 жыл бұрын
Yes please do :) I have quite a few anamorphic lenses so might already own the same one. I have a Kowa 8Z for example but as it's a dual-focus, it sat on the shelf a long time until the SLR Magic Rangefinder came out. Now, it's almost as good as an Iscorama. Without the variable diopter from SLR Magic on the front, it's useless :)

Most was around 800 ISO and some shots 1200, never use auto. The fairground was pretty well lit. Could have gone higher but then all the light would've been blown. Most people always look to 'look past the dark' and seem too obsessed with 'low light' I like to shoot the way my eyes see things.

Hi Peter, this was shot on a speedbooster with a 50mm, but keep in mind I didn't use any variable diopters in front. But the Kowa does go very wide. Also the Kowa 8z has identical optics found in the Kowa 16H, elmoscope II, Kowa B&H and Sankor Compact Cinemascope.

@Roflmao00017 жыл бұрын
My friend! I am in the midst of an internal battle between an a7sii and the GH5, I am heavily leaning towards the Panisonic however. What are you thoughts on using this in low light? A lot of your videos are shot in relatively dark areas so obviously it does pretty well, but I would love to know your thoughts!
@ichidomo7 жыл бұрын
+Joe O'Connor If you need to see in the dark aka 'nightvision' the sony will be better choice. The gh5 can deliver in dark scenes it's just not capable of 'nightvision', but neither are the higher end cine camera's like RED. It performs well in dark scenes as long as you know how to expose and know it's limits. So if you plan to film in dark caves with no light the sony will be better. In all other cases the gh5 outshines the sony in my opinion.
