your cinematography is always amazing. I know you really love your GH5, but have you thought about trying out the black magic pocket cinema 4k?
@ichidomo6 жыл бұрын
I have, but sadly it doesn't support a full 4:3 sensor readout for anamorphic shooting. It also lacks a tilt screen and/or EVF, for my personal shooting style these are crucial elements I need. I like to shoot as light and compact as I can. If I would need a hipshot I'd have to rely on an extra monitor just to pull off a simple shot. But the lack of 4:3 is the main issue. The image the P4k delivers is truly solid though. :)

Really gorgeous! So inspiring! Can I ask how you are adapting the lens to the GH5? Are you using a “dumb” adapter or some sort of focal reducer/speed booster? Thanks!!
@nkhstudio5 жыл бұрын
Sorry I see now you're using a Lens Turbo II in some shots, but what is "dumb adapter and ETC"? Again many thanks I am trying to navigate the world of adapters to use some old lenses with my GH5S.
@ichidomo5 жыл бұрын
@@nkhstudio thank you! Regarding 'dumb adapters' they are adapters with no electronic connection whatsoever or any glass elements, just a simple and cheap mount conversion adapter. The Lensturbo II is a speedbooster has no electronic connections but it does have glass. ETC is Extra Tele Conversion, a lossless way of having an additional 1.4x crop.
@nkhstudio5 жыл бұрын
Awesome thank you@@ichidomo this is very helpful. So with a dumb adapter, you were essentially shooting at 270mm (given the 135mm lens and the GH5 be 2x crop)? And then the ETC crops in even more? Cheers!

cinelike-d ok... but wtf else are you doing.. modifying the profile.. or what are you doing with your curves? or is it just that vintage glass??? the color is incredible.. i am a gh5 user myself.. so its not like im just impressed in general.. ive never been able to produce color like this... obvioulsy its the combination.. but dude,, you did some wizardy your not sharing... please englighten us inferior users
@ichidomo6 жыл бұрын
Hey man thank you for the compliment. If there was any wizardy going on I'd be happy to share. This was shot in Cine-D and ETTR with the sharpness and NR to -5 and saturation to -1, ' just' 8 bit and highly compressed VFR so couldn't push it as far as I'd like. I think the most overlooked setting is manual WB. I used to use WB cards but don't trust those to be accurate in various (mixed) light settings. I dial the kelvin by hand according to what my eye sees, never used auto WB since that screws the colors too much. Once your WB is correct it makes the grading a hell of lot easier. I used Resolve to grade, no wizardy going on there. Also the SLR Magic variable ND is known to keep a fairly neutral color profile whiteout shifting into a brown/magenta mess. So like you said, in total it's a combination of different factors: lens, settings and post.
@saltdogmedia42046 жыл бұрын
thanks for the response, ill check out those settings..

@@ichidomo but you changed câmera system? No longer gh5?
@ichidomo3 жыл бұрын
That’s correct, I changed to the Panasonic S1H because that offers the best anamorphic shooting options for my setup (just like its little brother the S5). But I have to say I miss the gh5 sometimes, such a pleasant beast to have worked with.
