Here's some important advice... If you ever get the chance to ride on a *homemade elevator* ..... DO NOT DO IT. I knew the guy that built it for 15+ years, I knew he built street-rods, had decades of welding experience..... I figured, "What the heck, let's check out this elevator he put together!!" Uh, NOPE. Shattered my leg in 4 places...3+months on crutches.... 2 surgeries...

I went on and old freight elevator once. Almost cut my arm on the rusty gate. That thing shook every time we moved. I was used to yanking on the string to change its direction by the end of the day

My dear wife of 33 yrs., passed away 9 yrs. ago, from liver cancer, and I still cry to this day. So unlike a previous commenter, I haven't been going through a 'tough stretch', I am going through a living hell, and have only had nightmares, no dreams, since her passing. I don't care about living anymore( I'm almost 70, what's the point?) and this ain't livin' ANYWAY. BUT,( and that's a big butt, I mean but) I'm not suicidal, I just don't want to necessarily, prolong my life, past what it's able to do without extraordinary means. That's where Jim's humor comes in as a comfort, to be able to find someone I can COUNT ON, to let me laugh again. Thank you, Gaffigan FAMILY!

In the 50s got on a ride called crack the whip. By myself, became air borne and struggled to stay inside. I was panicking because the bars were spaced too far apart, and could have been ejected. The ride finally ended and told my parents I almost died. I wasn’t believed and although 75, seems like yesterday.

I’ve had deep fried butter at the Texas State Fair Dallas. It is delicious of course. They flavor it with sauce/topping of your choice, I chose garlic. It’s fun but I love a smoked turkey leg more than any fair food.

Wow! I used to go to the SD fair every summer when I lived in CA. When I was 16 I had to speak on the stage (in front of the racetrack) to thousands of people. It was the only time I experienced stage fright. The Am Track train went by just then, and all I could say was, "Oh! There's the train!!!"... just before they hooked me off the stage. LOL Love that fair! :)
