That,and if you've seen both series its pretty obvious,there's plenty of similarities, Main protagonist is a loudmouth with pink hair and doesn't know when to give up, Black bulls are known as the worst magic squad but eventuallygains respect,fairy tail is known as the most rowdy magic guild, who losses respect and then gains respect,main female is from a wealthy family,and for the longest time didn't feel like she fit in,also her mother had died when she was little, Both protagonists are accompanied by a winged ally,both initially didn't know about there heritage or their true parents,both series have a lovable drunk in their squad/guild This one is just coincidence,but out of the first 3 openings the 2nd is considered the weakest of the 3 in both series..

When people say fairy tail has the best music...it's not just about the Openings and endings but the actual music of the show, the soundtrack that plays DURING the show....it's fuckin awesome...one of the most unique OSTs with a use of bagpipes.

Fairy Tail soundtracks aren't unique at all, they're very similar to Naruto's soundtracks. Don't worry im not judging, im a HUGE FAN OF FAIRY TAIL n NARUTO as well .

Power of Friendships kinda sucks in Fairy tail. But still love it though. Kinda my guilty pleasure anime 😂 Edit: Oh if you wanna know my fav arc in the series, that would be Edolas arc and Grand Magic games Arc. Well, just sharing it.

I see alot of people saying "they win by power of friendship everytime" and it pisses me off cause tht is not true at all. Yes there were a couple ass pulls but im pretty sure its less thn 3. The anime mentions friendship and its main theme afterall is friendship. But they dont use it as plot armor most of the time and people dont get tht

Even though Fairy Tail has a lot of fanservice and power of friendship moments, there are few anime out there that can make you feel like this one. And let's not even talk about the openings and the OST, they are fire.

Honestly, I 100% agree with that. The show does have a ton of power of friendship stuff and fan service, but I get emotional when watching this show, even in small moments, like when Laxus came back to help at Tenrou. This is also one of the few shows where I actually like more than half the cast, as I like almost everyone in the show! Also yea the OPs and OST are amazing.

I feel like opening 1 was created with the intention of being the nostalgic opening to look back on in 10 years. That’s why you’ll get that feeling regardless of experience with the series.

Fairytail has a lot of storylines. There is a overarching plot but thats hardly the focus. A LOT of different adventures. Thats why is hard to say whats happening by the openings

Pretty much this right here. Mashima never thought of any long-term plot for Fairy Tail; all he had were a bunch of ideas floating in his head, and he wrote for however long he felt he could take. It was sort of his way to unwind after he finished the more story-centric Rave Master, making up stories and worrying about how to connect them later. He just never imagined going in that it'd last more than 10 volumes, almost twice as long as Rave.

2:10 Main misconception about this show - the actual protagonist of the show is the blonde chick - Lucy. She is the type of growing protagonist like Naruto. But her powers aren't as marketable, especially for a shounen series directed to teen boys, as Natsu's fire powers are. But plotwise she is the main protag (unless we want to pick whole guild as protagonist of the series), as she is the narrator and she basically writes the story herself, as she is an author in the series. Almost every arc has some connection or focuses in some way on her, as she does grow from zero to hero. In general, even if people love some Natsu and Gray - if you pay enough attention Fairy Tail did one thing properly, which Naruto and in some ways Bleach couldn't really do - which is make a female cast actually cool and important, actually useful. Like spoiler or not but the main cast girls: Lucy, Erza and Wendy MVPed the whole series pretty much. 31:55 Oh that's an interesting version of this opening, I do believe it was used for some last episodes for it - where the proper arc started with those villains. Cause in other version snippets of episodes were used.

I wouldn't call Lucy the main protagonist, because I think Fairy Tail doesn't have a single main protagonist. It's more about the entire main team. Though Lucy is the sort of story-teller for most of the story. While the manga was still ongoing I always assumed that the final scene of the manga and anime would be a granny version of Lucy telling the youngsters about the past of the guild.... but that wasn't to be unfortunately. I'd have loved that. ^^ It would have meshed well with all the voice-overs from Lucy at many starts and ends of arcs.

@MJM Yes true that. Fairy tail is majorly a slice of life genre with shonen and action tropes sprinkled here and there. Main focus of fairy tail is the family bond between th guild members, the emotional investment everyone has in the guild. The main theme of fairy tail is NOT to achieve some goal or NOT to become stronger or anything, But the main theme is TO PROTECT the members and cherish the moments they spend with each other by overcoming the obstacles that they encounter along the way that challenge this family as a whole. Since the guild itself can be thought as a protagonist, any Lucy as a narrator as you've told which makes perfect sense, as They have to over come these obstacles collectively as a guild and reinforce their bonds, save eachother and accept eachother as they are. BUT people see it as just another shonen anime with Natsu as a protagonist and worry about sudden powerups, plot and other things. People judge it by wrong metric and bash it for its imperfections but it is not perfect and the shonen things that everyone criticises it for are not it's central element of focus. So it's ok for FT to not focus on those aspects and take easier way out in those. But fairy tail is a SLICE OF LIFE ANIME with shonen elements to it. And the guild itself is the protagonist. FT is not perfect but it is One of the most emotional and tear jerking anime ... I've seen.👆 One Of The best OSTs

Yeah at the start and end of the show Natsu kinda stole the role of main character from Lucy, but almost every character has an arc where they are the main protagonist. For Erza( Tower of Heaven), For Grey(the one where he had to fight Leone), For Natsu(The lizanna arc and the big art in the end), for Lucy(The Key of The Starry Heavens), for Carla and Happy(The Edolas Arc), and I'm not sure which one for Wendy.

I don't watch anime anymore but Fairy Tail will aLWAYS be in my heart, I grew up watching it and I can't help but adore every second of it rewatching it 8-10ish years later. The main theme of Fairy Tail is family n it's generally an incredible, beautifully constructed and emotional show. It starts good and just gets better and better, from what I remember there's like 200+ episodes so if you do wanna get into it, it will take you a long time lol. x

OPs 1 and 3 feel the most nostalgic to me, also OP 14 is a banger (that tournament arc is great, btw) Yes, Fairy Tail is not the best in terms of power scalling, specially towards the end, but few animes can bring so many emotions and great characters like them! And it´s a show about friendship (not anything like "I want to be the number one in whatever"), so of course there is going to be power of friendship.

So, I've seen the entire anime, so I grew attached to all the characters and openings and I have to say, Masayume Chasing, No Limit and The Rock City Boy are my favourite openings. Also, the letters on the book with END are pronounced seperately, so E N D. I'm not gonna spoil what it stands for in case you're thinking to watch the show, which I really do recommend, it's my all time favourite anime. ^^

I watch anime for the plot and I don't really appreciate most slice of life anime cuz it bores me and the lack of plot is really dragging it down for me. I also really cringe at illocigal shenanigans but fairytale is soooo different. I started watching it and thinking that I would very much follow lucy to her adventures but the longer watch the show, I ended up not caring about whatever the overarching plot may be but started watching it for the characters. There are some episodes that's completely random but I sooo enjoy them. Even the overused "power friendship" was something I enjoy. I laughed, cried, get mad, and cried a lot. I won't say it's an amazing show or that it's something I highly recommends to someone but, I very much enjoh this because it has a very AMAZING characters. I never knew I could care enough for this amount of people in a single show. It made me feel like I'm part of their family, that I'm part of fairytale ♥

Yesssss this is so hype! My favorites are definitely “I Wish” “BREAKTHROUGH” and “Masayume Chasing” (OPs 10&13&15) and I’m currently watching Fairy Tail and absolutely love the show to death honestly! So happy you finally got around to this! I've been a huge fan of Fairy Tail for about 5 years now. It's one of my favorite anime of all time, regardless of what anyone may say. Nothing makes me feel so nostalgic quite like this series does. "Strikeback" and "Masayume Chasing" might be some of my top OPs for the series, but honestly I just love them all so much. I have so many favourite openings, from the beautiful nostalgic 'Snow Fairy', to 'Strike Back', the amazing Fairy Tail Zero opening, the epic 'Rock City Boy', and 'Believe in Myself'. I can't pick between them, as they are all from different arc's, with different visuals, and amazing songs, as well as how all of them, have different meanings to them. They all follow the theme of family (though some of them also involve shipping) and they always have just stood out to me. I, even without knowing the lyrics, will just end up singing random jibberish in the tunes of these songs, as well as English covers, and the rap of 'Rock City Boy'.

I love Fairy Tail so much! It’s my favourite anime! I understand why some people don’t like it because it does have some flaws, some of which often appear in people’s lists for worst anime tropes... but even the worst tropes can work in the right story! The friendship always winning thing sometimes feels a little forced and lazy to conclude arcs, mainly when everyone just gives all their power to Natsu to save the day... yet other times it not only works but is really powerful with the themes of the story and it never comes across as cheesy. It also does something way better than any other shonen I can think of, which is having a large cast of amazing and memorable characters that all have strong bonds with each other! Most shows have issues when their casts grow and usually have at least one character who can end up being hated by much of the fan base like Sakura in Naruto or Orohime in Bleach (not that I necessarily dislike these characters but the way in which they are used in their respective stories is often criticised, a lot). But there isn’t a single character in Fairy Tail I couldn’t name and all have at least some impact that makes you excited to see them. Plus you get really invested in everything about them. I am not really a shipping kind of person, normally don’t get emotionally involved in the idea of who ends up with who, but I get so excited when characters make progress in their relationships in this story (literal squealing and kicking my legs in joy) and I will fight to defend why those characters are perfect together! And this is really why despite some criticisms that mean I understand why many do not like the show, some just want there to be more consistently dire straits in their anime, that I still love it more than other anime anyway. The point of the show is the characters, their guild and all the comrades they gain on their adventures, that’s what gets people invested, what the core of the series is about and I don’t think any other show does it better 😁 Sorry for this being so long, I know it’s unusual and a bit much for a KZbin comment but I really do love Fairy Tail and don’t really have anyone to talk about it with so I’m taking this opportunity to say a lot of what I usually hold in. Believe it or not, I still actually restrained myself here! 😝

At 35:15, at this point the anime was on a extremely long hiatus, they came back with a side arc (Fairy Tail ZERO) then after that it was the final season, that's why the openings were so different from the previous ones.

Also important to mention that the final season restored the original bright pastel color palette from the first run of the show. The 2014 series had a sharper look to it, but the colors became increasingly dull and bleak to coincide with the 'dark' Tartaros arc. That's why it's a bit shocking to be hit with those bright colors again after having gotten used to the darker vibe of the second series. Personally I loved it - the vibrant colors were part of what made Fairy Tail so charming in the first place.

Fairy Tail takes place in a world where magic is everywhere. People band together to form guilds to perform jobs and services all over the continent. Their is a main group that the story follows, but at the end of the day the thing that the show succeeds most with is making you feel like a part of the guild yourself. The creators do this by not just giving you one main group or main character that everything revolves around, but creating a world in which the guild itself is the main character. Due to the fact that the guild as a whole is the main character, the "friendship is magic" trope stuff comes off cheesy, but doesn't come off as fake. You are part of the family not just watching the family so when the friendship is magic stuff happens you can appreciate it a lot more then in other anime.

The show does have a lot of power of friendship, power of emotions and fan service. The story takes a back seat at times but there is an overall narrative, also the show doesn’t shy away from pretty grim topics/backstory of the characters. Definitely worth a watch/read.

Watch it dude, totally worth it, even though it's long and has some obvious Friendship and Shounen tropes. It's visually appealing, has character development, legit comedy and legit heartfelt moments that will bring you to tears, epic fights, AMAZING OSTs, and somehow just works. It doesn't try to outdo itself and just rolls with the punches of all the criticism, while still staying true to its original paradigm. Intros are bangers too. But yea, what got me into finally watching the show in 2018, and ending up binge-watching it, was listening to the themes and other OSTs; they're just so epic!

fairy tail is one of the only shows that can pull off the power of friendship trope due to two reasons: 1) the main character is not natsu or lucy or even their group; the protagonist of fairy tail is the guild itself and 2) the source of all magic in the show (primordial magic) is love so the closer your bond and the stronger your emotions, the stronger your magic is. fairy tail is an incredible anime and it’s worth the watch.

Fairytail is one of my most favorite anime’s ever it takes you down the rollercoaster know as emotions in well done arcs throughout the entire of the anime and although it has funny parts in it this show balances it out with the heavy scenes as well! Please stick with it! My favorite openings of fairytail is the first opening and sense of wonder and masume chasing (mind the spelling). Also with the openings with fairytail they tend to show some what of the fights in each arc but slightly different. Fairytail is an anime that is based in a wizard world so most people use magic and there’s different types. As for the symbol it’s the main emblem of the four in the openings. If you continue with the anime all will be explained my dude! There’s over 300 episodes I believe but it’s a very very good anime! Don’t let the number discurage you it’s still a fantastic anime and it’s one of the first anime’s that I watched that got me into anime. If you decide to watch the anime all will be explained! Also another opening that’s one of my favs is rock city boy strike back is also and all the openings for the T. Arc are one of my favs. Fairytail took a break for quite a few years after a certain point but they picked it back up again a few years later and finished off the series so the art style changes at certain points throughout the show but it is still fantastic!

Fairy tail is by far the most captivating anime I've seen and it's one of my top 5 favorites and the music in it is just amazing especially the main theme
