I am in my seventies, and wear my white hair in a bun. Six weeks ago, I began using the raw egg/castor oil treatment for thinning hair, and lo and behold, the new hair is growing in brown! my original color. Lots more body now, and much thicker.

That's great. Have you got a recipe or link for it?

@@phyllisj73 Morning Phyllis. Many youtubes on web about this treatment. The original recipe I tried is two beaten eggs and three Tbs of Jamacian castor oil (available through Amazon.) But for the volume of hair I have, this was far too much oil. Last night I tried two beaten eggs, and only one Tbs of oil, tucked my hair into a shower cap, and left it on for an hour. Washed it out in lukewarm water. Temperature of water is very important, because if you use warm to hot water, you will never get the scent of cooked egg out of your hair. Using lukewarm water only, shampoo as usual. Some women use the oil treatment only, wrap their head in a hot towel and leave it on for hours. But if you use the egg mixture I use, do not leave it on your hair for more than three hours, because the egg white will strip your hair. My daughter made that mistake, and oh my, a haystack! Have used eight treatments in two months, and can see definite improvement in volume, though I was not expecting the color I had in high school!

My favorite self care is a bubble bath at 10 a.m. on a weekend - it feels so unusual, and so decadent … ahhhh. I also LOVE selecting a new flavor of coffee beans, and then hand-grinding the entire package while listening to some type of music I don't normally listen to - classical, usually - and savoring the combination of the wonderful smell and sounds!

Just LOVE Sunday mornings with you!! Im requesting prayers for my village. Late Thursday night the dam to the reservoir broke and the rocks and dirt filled up the overflow causing massive flooding and destruction. All the corralled animals died. Loose ones washed away. 100 houses disappeared and many businesses in the tourist district lost everything. Many wont be able to recover. The whole town is pulling together. Yesterday the military showed up with machines to remove the dirt/ mud and boulders and repair the bridge. My farm and house is 1/2 km from the disaster. Im at slightly higer elevation Because i am always prepared for disasters i was able to donate food and water to the whole town and feed the volunteers. That is one MAJOR way I self care. Making sure Im prepared for disasters. Not in a fear mongering sence. If im ready there is no need for fear. In this case my whole community didnt have to worry. I had 6 mos food for my 5 families and the widows. Which will end up feeding the whole village for a whole week Long enough for the government to get supplies to us. So please prepare even if just for your family. Its the best self care. Have a peaceful blessed day. Love yourself,take care od yoursel so you can be of service to others. Love .one another, be kind. Thank you Niamh

What a timely video! I'm very much focused on self-care this week, as I have a severe respiratory infection, so lots of tea, resting, some slow knitting, slow embroidery are helping me to slow down and get well. Sadly, no walks in nature at the moment, but I've been enjoying watching the playful fog in our woods - a different view every 30 seconds! I'll have to go back and watch your self-care video from last year, but I would also add "Asking for help" to the list. A cup of tea and knitting are a part of my daily self-care as well as being sure to get enough exercise and movement in my week. Another daily practice is stopping before sleep, briefly reflecting on my day, seeing where I might have done something differently, and naming at least five things I am grateful for from the day. I find that really helps me to keep my perspective and to always be aware of the abundance in my life; whether it be the abundance of good health, the abundance of place and space, or the abundance of a kind word or deed given freely by a colleague or one of my students. Thanks again for another peek into the beauty of your corner of the world, it is making me even more eager for my trip to Ireland this summer-and for this opportunity, I am deeply grateful.

Part of my self care is to recognize when I'm over doing something. I can sometimes get obsessed about some new skill and I don't take time to rest, cook, clean, exercise. Then I feel drained and I have a mess to clean up. So it's a balance between wanting to get a lot done and knowing that I need to rest and do other things as well for my well being and happiness. I do something similar to your bullet journal but I use Google keep notes. I have one note where I write down all I can think of that I want to do. Sometimes I erase things I changed my mind about wanting to do, and maybe reorder things. And I have a note pinned at the top that lists the upcoming days and what I want to get done on each day or any events that are planned. Sometimes I move things from the first note to the second and vice versa, and sometimes I move things inside the pinned note to another day. It's simple and accessible and helps me get things done but also not overdo it and know that I won't forget anything.

What soothing video! Thank you! Taking care of myself is listening g more to my inner being and being present for myself. I tend to think what’s next?now what? Instead of enjoying what I have right here and now. It’s a process I’m not there yet but certainly on my way. Have a great week.

I do Self Care Sunday! I make a breakfast which brings me joy & eat it in bed and after dinner I have a bath, light some candles and put some music on.

Sleep hygiene is something thats new for me. Winding down earlier in the night. I bought a battery operated ceiling light for my bedroom painting, and 45 minutes before going to bed I turn off other lights and just have that light on which I can dim with a remote control or even set a timer so it goes off automatically. I might do some yin yoga to wind my body down, or put on a asmr or sleep video that stars relaxing me. I try to start this ritual and have lights out at the same time each night to train my body to feel restful at this time each day and it works. I also pray and express gratitude to God for all things He does for me and that were good about my day, and then I ask Him what He wants to communicate to me. Its usually "I love you." or "your going to be okay."

Always love your content ! In fact I can’t get enough. I usually watch your videos to unwind and relax. That being said it would me really nice if you made some long videos so that I’m not having to keep stopping and find different ones! 💜

Alanna Southerland thanks so much. I’ll definitely try to do that. Takes a lot of footage to make these minutes. Were you thinking of 10 mins or more?
@alannasoutherland51724 жыл бұрын
Fairyland Cottage yeh that’d be amazing. Maybe just leave more raw footage and don’t edit out so much content ? I don’t want to make things more difficult on you!

Listening is the skill I try and practice more - sometimes more successfully than others...lol Sundays are self-care day. I soak my feet in herbs and Epsom salts, give my self a natural manicure and pedicure and sip a big mug of Morrocan Mint tea. Have a lovely week, Niamh
