you're exceptional i could watch 100 videos from the same fandom and they'd all look the same and then there's you, always bringing something original, always getting to the heart of the thing, carving out the very right style, picking the very right music. i'm amazed every time.

i love how layered this one feels, like it's about the women but not overtly, they're still shadowed by male appetite and violence even as you draw our eye to their social positions as either objects of relief or slaves to emotional labor always expected to accept the dance even when they get dropped in the dirt, over and over. i love how intense your editing can be, not because your vids are sometimes graphic but because of how richly they appeal to the senses. I'm shit at comments and commenting but believe me when i say i admire everything you put out, especially because the choices you make often directly challenge my own ideas of what vidding is/can be/should look like.

First of all. Thank u for taking the time to comment at all, I appreciate hearing from ppl and u especially an enormous degree I haven't thought abt this show since i made the video but iirc Peaky blinders is an interesting property w regards to critical examination, especially the female characters impact on the PHYSICAL resonance of the story...thats why i tried to go with little dialogue..like texture to every cut and a stark contrast between each shot along with the repetitive audio meant to highlight the cycles of arrogance and consequence I'm usually not a fan of narratives that position women as emotional feeding tubes to the male characters trauma and development but I thought it kind of worked in this case because of how righteously angry it was. polly is the most fascinating character on the show as I think the misogyny of the writers reflected itself in her while the character also thrived because of the humanity and like.. terror the actress brought to every scene I appreciate engaging with video editing like this! Doesn't happen often and it makes me consider the choices I made during/the mindset I was in when I uploaded it..it can be such an exciting and varied process. also the sentiment is completely mutual! I've learned so much from ur videos

@@kiplng2 i've only seen the first season, but the show gave me mad tarantino/scorsese vibes in its insistence to glorify masculinity at the same time it wanted to examine it. my problem was one of tone, but since my engagement was limited it's possible i didn't give it a real chance. anyway, Helen McCrory is a treasure and the reason i pushed on for as long as i did. and thank you for sharing some insight into your process. i'm obsessed with the structure of this video so it's fascinating to read. the way you talk about vidding makes it sound like painting.

@@xLiesForALiar Honestly I only watched past season 1 for sophie and helen and I never caught up on s5 so I get it lol I eventually found some things to respect abt the show besides the aesthetic of it, but its definitely a tough one so idk if I would even reccomend continuing but I WILL be watching halt and catch fire after ur latest video..i was on the fence but I love lee pace and stories abt technology intersecting with human connection Also I think employing technique or certain ways of thinking to multiple mediums is my favourite way to decipher meaning ... I don't necessarily subscribe to the idea that there r some things tht aren't meant to be critically examined but I love to just sit with feeling sometime and there aren't many ways besides video editing to incorporate music into analysis..i just like to listen and watch things move and connect in ways that make sense to me!

@@kiplng2 that vid's trash but you should definitely watch HACF. i thought it would be too corporate-centric for me but beyond season one it really blossoms into a show about ambition and creativity and the human cost of victory. the writing is sometimes uneven but each season improves upon the last, and what i really appreciate is the level of care put into centering the emotional arcs of the characters. if you watch i'd love to hear your thoughts. i feel that. vidding is transformative art and thereby contingent on analysis, but in the same way painting requires brushes and a canvas. the point, at least to me, is about connecting to characters or concepts and giving them personal meaning. it can be critical or cathartic or critical and cathartic, essentially existing somewhere between the emotional and the cerebral. but at the end of the day, talking about vidding in terms of logic and theory, while fun, is automatically going to make it sound more serious than it often is, lmao. for me a lot of it is intuitive and emotional and i try not to get wrapped up in rationalizing my decisions too much.

@@xLiesForALiar ill definitely tell u what i think! And I agree completely I have a tendency to over complicate most of my hobbies when discussing with others but video editing is the most fun and casual way to create! Like painting over a photograph or making a collage .. anyways I appreciate hearing ur thoughts ❤
