Faiyum Review: How to Please a Pharaoh in Ten Cards

Faiyum became a immediate hit at our table. By now we sit at 30+ games, where 3/4 players always had been the same. At that level the game meta really kicks in, pacing of administration, when to buy a card, what card, or is the card already useless at that time of the game. For us mostly every decision is kind of intense. Sometimes you poker high and loose, sometime it just works out perfectly. And sometimes people build up such a ennermous deck, that will go from last to first after the last administration . It's a great game, with deep meta and decision for pacing.

Tbf, I can 100% get that Faiyum must be awesome with a solid group who knows the cards by heart. We'll have to keep it on the table and aim towards it! Glad to hear how much you're enjoying it.

It would make a great Unfringed game if it was just a little simpler with the easy rules but thinky puzzle ;).

Thank you! Yeah for sure there’s definitely a strong comparison between this and Concordia…although for some reason, Concordia hasn’t really sucked us in despite playing a couple of times, whereas with Faiyum we’ve been quite addicted to it!

Hahaha it's a fair point! I personally do feel it's still got some charm due to all the custom components like the crocodiles, but I get what you mean. It's not going to wow anyone. Thanks for watching, and it's defo worth a go at a board game cafe or something!
