he was because he was rational.Baghi baghi hota hai.May be in his old days Faiz sahb showed understanding towards religion.A RATIOnAL person can never be a blind believer just a basic believer.

Calling Javed Akhtar sb an illiterate is a stupidity in itself. He has lived a life rich with literature and art. Jisko ap illiterate keh re hain, us admi ne Urdu ki liye itna kaam kia hai jitna apki teen naslon ne nhe kia hoga. As a Pakistani Muslim, we like to sell this perception that oh Faiz sb was Hafiz e Quran, it is not written anywhere in his books or books written on him. Han un k sharaab peenay k qissay buhat moujood hain. Agar wo itnay deen daar thae tou sharaab na peetay. Apni aankhen khol k google kro aur parhay likhay logo e.g. Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi, Zehra Nigaah k articles padho Faiz k baare main. Faiz was a great poet and his religion should not be anybody's business. He will remain a good poet even if he wasnt an exemplary Muslim.
