It is wrong 100 percent ionic bond does not exist , but 100 percent covalent bond exist for example N2,O2 when electronegativity difference is zero i.e, the molecule is formed by same atom (N2,O2) the bond is 100 percent covalent.

The covalent bonds are weaker than ionic bonds hence, they require lesser energy to break the bond resulting in a lower melting and boiling point that's why the mp and bp decreases with increase in covalent character. I hope this helps
