Thank you. I purchased a twin needle to stitch the hem and sleeve hems of a Tee Shirt. I had the needles threaded but hadn't gotten the "courage" to practice sewing and do the hems. This video pushed me over the edge to give it a try.

Thank you for all the tips on how to prevent the tunneling. I think that’s the trickiest part of doing that. This technique will be very valuable when you don’t want the bulk of serger thread.

Can I ask about the walking foot - what are the benefits and is this essential?
@MadetoSew
@MadetoSew Жыл бұрын
Yes, I do have a video on it that might help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6HYhKGVfdlkZ6c It is not essential but it can make sewing any tricky fabrics easier; I use mine or a dual feed (which is similar but built into some machines) a LOT! The walking foot has feed dogs on the bottom of the foot so basically helps to feed through the top layer and bottom layer of material at the same time/speed. This is great when the material is struggling to be fed through the machine, or your matching patterned fabric or seams. Otherwise you have the feed dogs on the bottom of the material feeding and the top food can almost act as a blocker (in some situations) as it is pressing down and pushing the top layer of fabric away (of course thats a slightly exaggeration in most situations, but I am just trying to explain the motion that is taking place). I hope that helps? Aneka x

Please also teach us how to handle and stitch two curve parts/pieces of cloth for beginners on a sewing machine like when sewing round neckline and joining armholes .Because it causes me great trouble while sewing it .

Hi, good tutorial, thank you. I cannot find a ballpoint twin needles anywhere. Do you know where I can find them?

Is there any stretch with that method. Does the single bobbin thread zigzag enough to provide stretch?

What presser foot should be used on the Bernina when using a twin needle (if I don't have a walking foot)?
@MadetoSew
@MadetoSew 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rachel, you can use any of the standard feet as long as they have a wide opening (suitable for a zigzag stitch or twin needle). My 1D or 1C would work. I hope that helps? Aneka

Hi! Which twin needle did you buy? Thanks!
@MadetoSew
@MadetoSew 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gabriela, I usually buy Schmetz needles, and you will need a ballpoint or knit twin needle for your jersey. They come in different widths, I can't remember what this width is. Probably 4mm? Hope that helps. Aneka

How about using wooly thread for more Strech!
@MadetoSew
@MadetoSew 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Flora, that could be a great idea. I use wooly nylon on my coverlock and overlocker. I will try it on the sewing machine using this method. Thank you for the idea. Aneka x

The best way to make a coverlock stitch using an ordinary sewing machine is making the double-bordered zigzag using the twin needle. Before you do this, check the width of your stitch to prevent either needle from hitting the edge of the hole in the foot. If you do it carefully, then there's absolutely no need to use a coverlock machine.

how would you do a two line stitch with a twin needle without the serged finish look on the back
@greenmulatta
@greenmulatta 3 жыл бұрын
with two lines on the front and two lines on the back
@MadetoSew
@MadetoSew 3 жыл бұрын
@@greenmulatta Unfortunately you can't do that on a sewing machine, there is only 1 thread underneath (the bobbin), which is why it zigzags between the two top threads. You could do something like a flat felled seam if you wanted a twin needle finish in a different way?

How can I do this on my overlocker?
@MadetoSew
@MadetoSew 4 жыл бұрын
The technique that I'm showing here is a fake coverstitch (twin needle), which can be used by people who don't have access to an overlocker or serger. Some overlockers or sergers will complete a cover stitch, which is the real version of the stitch I am showing, but it does depend whether the machine has this capability, not all do. If not and it's something you want, you would need to invest in a coverstitch or coverlock machine.

So I cannot do backstitch. Maybe that is the reason why I broke 2 tween needles.
@MadetoSew
@MadetoSew 3 жыл бұрын
Oh no, sorry to hear that. If you can't backstitch you could either sew over yourself to secure it? Or tie the threads instead?
