One of the biggest blowhards in the history of Cosa Nostra was Jimmy the weasel Fratianno. Jimmy the Weasel grew up in Cleveland and was accused of the R word of a woman in 1932. He ended up being in the Cleveland Mob for a while and then was in the Chicago Outfit. He was friends with Louis Tom Dragna of the Los Angeles Mob and when the boss Dominic Brooklier went to prison in 1975, the Outfit transferred the Weasel to LA so he could be a co-acting boss with Dragna. As acting co-boss, the weasel was meeting with mobsters all across the country telling them he was the boss. He tried to muscle his way into San Francisco and the mob boss James the Hat Lanza had him chased. When Brooklier gets out of prison, he demotes Jimmy to Soldier. Fearing he would be taken out, he becomes an informant. The weasel had some ties with the Gambino Greg DePalma because he was partners in the Westchester Theatre. Later he testified against Genovese Front Boss Funzi Tieri. The real boss was actually Chin Gigante. We later find out WITSEC was his latest scam as the weasel was given over a million dollars by the feds over a 10 year period.

He sure knew a lot about the history of Cosa Nostra and a lot of heavyweights. Busy Siegel, Johnny Roselli, Tieri, Aiuppa and Accardo. His book with Ovid DeMaris is one of the best ever imo. Also his participation in the superb documentary series Crime Inc was insightful and very funny at times. Crime Inc is on KZbin for free btw.

Your facts are highly distorted. Fratianno was made in LA in 1947. He did transfer to Chicago with Johnny Roselli during DeSimone's administration, as he was a Dragna loyalist and bitter towards the DeSimone, Scozarri, and Dippolito regime thinking Roselli or Tom Dragna should have been boss.

He also had some good connection's with the Mexican Mafia, and tried enlisting their help in eliminating his rival's in LCN. Fortunately for them, they did their research and found out it was he that was in the hat, so they stopped messing with him. And that is when he went to the FBI, to save his life. But he did do time in Cali with alot of heavyweights in La Eme, and that's how he met them. As everyone now know's, they are now the real power out here on the West Coast, and have been for a long time now.

According to Burnstein there is still some structure. Russell Pallardo is the boss and very old and the last known made man, so I can't imagine it being much. Carmine Agnello of the Gambinos is also active in Cleveland.
