"Work hard" is a mentality that is no longer valid in this era. Maybe it would have been in the 80's or 90's where you'd get more money if you worked more hours, or you were rewarded with bonuses for doing more work. Nowadays it's "work smart" that gets the money. Also, I kind of dislike the fact that the speaker claims that you don't need to have a skill to become famous and I think that's not true because you still need to have an idea/concept and convey it in a way that makes it appealing/relatable to many people, maybe it's not an obvious skill such as a physical one (singing, playing an instrument, drawing...) but it's still a skill. Plus, you need to be consistent and put in quite a lot of effort to keep the audience with you for more than a couple of videos and once you're more famous, it's even more demanding. But I guess to the older generations, influencers will always be considered "the ones who got easy money for doing a couple of videos".

It's not social media. People have an internal choice to make these behaviors happen or not. They can choose to be lame influencers, scammers influencers, not influencers, themselves, etc. And, yea, it isn't only in China, this sort of behavior you see everywhere of people wanting to show off for whatever reason and be that stupid person of the party that looks down on everyone in the party like ''Here I am, look at me, bitches; fuck off, weird person( not realizing they're the weird ones)". For some people, just having some fun with friends isn't enough. They have to push things all the time so.. Well, whatever, it's not my problem if people are stupid enough to fall for influencers trap. By the way, influencers are USELESS to the world. But that's only my opinion. I might change it anytime, not probable, though.

Sadly, I agree with Bichael Stevens. I've studied international relations for 3 years to become a charity worker for international organization. During studies I've found out that all of these organizations are a way to make profit, wash dirty money, make some people look good and/or influence politcal/ideological view of society, doesnt matter GO or NGO. Just look who funds them, how many donations they recieve yearly and ask your self how the hell there are still poor people on this planet and what happened to all that money.

But if you look at it in a macro view. Individually it will be difficult to do so as it will be hard to find the resources to do so. to add, you have to meet the demands of your audience CONTINUOUSLY to not loose them and your income; needing you to make original (however that means to you) and engaging content....you yourself have to make (unless you got a team) creatively (sometimes with your own means). This makes some influencers vulnerable to a variety of people because its all so personal too. Moreover, we haven't really grasped how to define or use 'being an influencer'... so much is changing in the economy and culture. 'influencership' will broaden its use and meaning in time. Just like everything that is new, there will be hate, confusion towards something we don't fully understand yet. I just wish people would be more open about other peoples options on how to live life, create success for themselves and make money. I wish in the future we settle with having more good sides towards what 'influencership' means to society.
