This has been an issue really for some time. It’s why I just stayed with reputable silver sellers on the web. Thankfully I never got stuck with fake silver.

My family has been buying precious metals since 1930ish. Everyone that deals or buys routine should at least has a chemical scratch test and if you are serious a portable xrf. I have never had a serious dealer, seller decline a test of their product. The shysters will say no. If they do pack up and walk away.
