Because a really convincing fake from China will cost you around 500 bucks while The real thing will cost you several Grand. If you want a Rolex Daytona for example it would set you back 30 grand or more. While obviously everyone would prefer to have the real thing, a 500 dollar convincing replica is the next best option.You buy a Rolex not just as an investment but as a status symbol and Nobody at the bar or the club or at your office is going to know the difference between the replica and the real thing. Top tip: look at the balance and escapement in the movement. Even the best clones still use a standard swiss lever escapement. In the case of a Rolex, look for weights on the balance wheel and the lack of regulator level on the balance. In Omega's case, the co-axial movements will also have weight on the wheel itself and lack a regulator lever, but also look for a second escapement wheel and a pallet fork with 3 prongs instead of two. This is the only way to be absolutely sure the watch is real, particularly if you do not have a genuine model to directly compare. All of the other tips, while all true, will be very difficult to ascertain on a high end enough replica, and will ultimately lead to an informed guess, rather than a definitive answer. If the seller won't let you inspect the movement on a used or grey market watch, that is already a massive red flag.

I have replica Daytona Ice Blue.. Still works perfectly fine, I have had it for a couple of years now and I have no regrets buying it. When people ask me if it’s real. I’m honest about it and say it’s a replica, end of the day .. It’s a watch .. most important thing about a watch is the time. As long as the time works accurately and you like the design which for me was the Daytona Ice Blue and like how it looks on your wrist, I personally think that’s all that truly matters. I just wouldn’t ever recommend misleading people believing it’s real for the sake of the “successful status” I got it because I like how it looks, As much as I would obviously prefer the real deal I rather spend that kind money on a car or holiday/vacation. There “many” shops which sale replica goods which are spot on. Some better than others. Which some cost a bit more then others depending the designed and quality of the product/item. In Istanbul they also sell many good replicas. It’s something you got to experiment on a bit and check out as some places as some do it better than others. Lucky for me all of my replica watches work perfectly but some have slightly better quality then others depending the model.

Well buy the fake for hundreds of pounds and when you are tired of it you will find you have lost nearly all the money as they are literally worthless, so in the end more expensive than a real watch. And you can get a vintage watch with GREAT quality for what a good copy of a Rolex cost. While you're being practical, make sure you buy the cheapest android phone they offer (iPhones are too expensive), and keep it until they stop supporting it. Buy only the lowest tier data plan that allows you to check stocks. Make sure you buy the cheapest 20 year old Honda Civic on craigslist, or better yet, take public transit. Cancel any and all entertainment subscriptions you have, because you should be using anytime not working or sleeping to hustle some side gigs, or exercise. Also, ditch the Seiko plan, and just buy a ten dollar Casio F91-W. Then, take all that money you saved, and diversify a few investments, focusing on the SP 500 and high yield CDs... ...Then, after you have gloriously maximized your ROI on the money you earned, go out with a friend, to the cheapest restaurant you can possibly find, during an early bird special, and watch them fall asleep while you talk about how smart you are with money, and then realize you literally have nothing else to talk about because you don't do anything fun ;)

Personally the biggest reasons for me is that I feel disappointment when I look at any fake watch, plus the economic loss that comes with it at the very good fakes will cost a lot of money and you will never get even close to what you paid back when you sell. There are literally millions of second watches for sale in the region of $200-1000, many VERY attractive in terms of both quality and appearance, why on earth pay that kind of money for something which is fake??

As someone who spent over a decade as a typesetter, it’s not helpful that Rolex typesetters are terrible at kerning! The inter-character spacing is all over the place. Also, if you are going to only sell watches to the grey market to falsely inflate perceived values, then you deserve every super clone that is bought after the terrible customer service provided.

Buy from an AD at a fair price. The crown etching on the glass, now looks better on most fakes and they use the harder, more scratch resistant, industry standard steel.😂

I think it's hilarious we still think it's worth spending 10k on a watch that can be copied so well you need to go to macro to see a difference. I've owned a Rolex and have multiple Tudor's and Omega's so still buy into the BS, and sucked in by the ad's, but I think we're being bummed up the rear. There's a great vid on YT with Georges Kern telling you exactly how he does it at some shareholders meeting. Look, see that tiny screw on the pallet fork, there should be 3, Zzzzzzz. If someone made a Porsche 911 for 10K that looked the same, drove the same, smelt the same, felt the same, but a couple of pipes around the engine were routed differently, Id buy it. We're all being hypnotised in to believing the real one's worth 20 x more. NO!

This comparison with Porsche is so incredible because its true. I was with couple of my friends few days ago on poker night and 3 of them had rolexes and one had tudor and omega. All of them are genuine. I am the poorest one from the squad but not that poor that i coudlnt afford a sub if i really wanted to. I was wearing a 100usd submariner replica but bit the worst one. They coudlnt say it was a fake or anything. Incredible, i can just imagine how higher end replicas would look even better.

It sounds like you need a real Rolex to compare to the alleged "fake" watch in order to tell the difference. But he also says most times that you "may" have a fake. And heaven forbid that the watch that you think is real that you are using to compare to the one you think is fake turns out to be fake. The whole thing sounds like a fools errand and maybe just buy the $300 fake and Bob's your uncle.

You know, If they just stopped pretending to make Rolex watches and made decent, own-brand watches, they'd probably make pretty good money. Make some decent designs, sell them at cost + 25% and a lot of people would get those. Not everyone can afford even used Rolexes.
