4. the "taking music down" without any recourse AND withholding funds is something that I am not ok with. Say someone did get caught and their music was removed from a DSP. The DSP withholds payment to the distributor and keeps that money. I have a problem with that. 1. they can take down music at will, without prior communication. That's not a good look. 2. because I don't have a say or can't speak to anyone about the issue, I am now at a loss and have to find a new home to reupload the music... meanwhile, the DSP GOT PAID ALREADY. They are keeping the money from the artist but they should also return the money back to the advertiser. THEY DON'T! So as a cost cutting agenda, monthly some rogue employee could just go through catalog and deem it "fraudulent" and they get to keep the money! What if that employee's bonus is tied to how many songs they can snatch from the distroverse today? This is a real issue. We're talking about what affects it has on the artist, but we are also assuming that the artist had anything to do with it, lol. But in the end, they are the person/s that everyone is looking at and giving bad press to/for all while the DSP is continuing to line their pockets with "false claims".

Funny you say that, my boss is in his late 30’s early 40’s (most likely) but we always talk about HipHop & Neo Soul type shit (like Lauryn Hill & Erykah Badu) & we were talking about how listening to music used to be an activity in itself. It wasn’t like a background thing. I feel like that’s how music is always listened to now, I myself rarely dedicate time to just “listen to music” I’m always multi tasking & the purpose of music is to enjoy that shit & chill for a sec lol. Well depending on the music but either way it’s supposed to be enjoyed & streaming platforms have made it all about #’s

🤷🏽‍♂️ Im pretty sure the next step will be for major labels to just figure out how to bypass this form of detection. Also, is this tool recognized by Spotify ? For example, is it possible that this tool would say a user has no fake streams but Spotify would say otherwise ?

Ok fellas, Let me give you some behind the curtain information from the bot world. From someone who used to provide these services for the industry for over a decade I have more direct knowledge on how this stuff works than most...and I am not ashamed to admit it. I will break this down into individual comments just in case there is a rebuttal on each point. 1. When you say names of artist, as used in this video, "justin Beiber or Meg the Stallion" and such, I can guarantee you that THEY had nothing to do with it. Let's be logical. These artist have a minority stake in the music and publishing rights. Let's just say 30% or less. Them adding any streams to their content doesnt directly benefit them AT ALL. Those streams you were talking about were/may have been coming from someone that either someone at the label contracted (Viral/marketing department) or the distributor. To give these artist that much credit and/or that much blame isn't accurate, especially if they don't own the label, lol. In most case, artist don't know.
@VelvetHammerBooking
@VelvetHammerBooking Ай бұрын
5. this is an important part and it's very vital. The entire industry uses bots. Labels, distributors and artist. It's all over. The key is not THAT they are using them, the most important factor is HOW they are using them. Labels and distros use them to kickstart campaigns. After that, the organic traffic kicks in and then you can taper off. You may start with 100% bots but that will dwindle down to 10% or less based on the organic movement. Artist do the dumbest shit and actually use the damn bots AS their campaign. Any and all movement is just inorganic movements that make zero sense. This becomes expensive and the company that is providing the service is just exploiting this 100% because they are there for the check.

What kind of L take is that? Why y’all saying the crackdown on bots is „finally“ happening when it will only affect small unsigned artists and major label artists still profiting off bots and won’t get punished? You are acting like „nobody can profit“ off bots when I’m fact majors get their songs trending that way and have a huge advantage over everybody else? Like whose side are you on?!

If that’s what you took from the video, more power to you. So? It's called marketing. How can I evaluate the value of a product with no audience to showcase it to? Based on your logic, do the companies that pay Google to run ads on your videos skip the line and bbl themselves in front of your audience with their product? Where is the organic discovery on a paid product placement? And does your allowing a paid product placement on your video make you complicit in something you simultaneously criticize negatively when artists do it in their industry? Do companies that hire SEO firms to rank on the first page of Google for commercial searches bbl themselves to the top, or are they advertising? Music has a variety of ways to be consumed, and today it's streaming. This industry has adapted to the ways of promoting artists and curating awareness and perception. I don't know why people would attach morals and shame to things that are perfectly normal. A lot of people with this mindset of yours live on somebody else's dime while being prideful about something that nobody with a sense of duty (like paying bills) and an understanding of business would care about. Dear artists, understand that people have short attention spans and that the world doesn't revolve around you, and you may not be as great as you think you are, for you to not have curated an audience to find out. You better use every way possible to make people aware of yourself. Don't let people trick you into feeling shame for being an adult who wants to earn money and doesn't want to throw their art into a black hole of no engagement. There is no business without marketing. Spend money to make money.

Let’s be honest here nobody watches anybody’s KZbin channel or listen to their music if their views streams, likes or comments are not high enough that’s why people are using bots because perception is everything if a song has half 1 million streams. You’re gonna listen to it if a KZbin video has 12 K more views you’re gonna watch it if subscriber count or higher you’re gonna subscribe because other people are and you don’t wanna feel like you’re missing out on anything if everybody would just give everybody a chance off the gate they would be no need for fake bots and fake engagement but of course nobody is going to do that which is why people finesse the system
