This is to some degree true. Difficult to find the best fakes though.... Even then they probably don't round the tips of the bristles off or have indicator bristles. The benefit is there is choice for all and as long as everyone is aware then thats great.

I got tricked with fake Crossaction heads on ebay. The packaging is spot on but just a little different bc they say they're made in Russia or Germany. The brush makes a rattle noise when in use sometimes, the little plastic ring is really hard to put on, and the blue bristles are longer than the white ones in the center. The head isn't totally pushed down after brushing and looking at it beside my real one, from the back, the round part that holds the bristles is a little bigger on the fake, and the logo is darker gray like in your video, as well as the bristles being splayed more loosely and several other things you mentioned. I immediately noticed the bristles felt very different too, longer and less firm.

@@ElectricTeeth well that's the thing, I'm looking at some ones that are from eBay and all the points you covered are included on these including the dimples at the top and on the front as well as the logo being properly printed! I'm nearly of the opinion that they are real, the only thing that I've noticed is: there seems to be a small seam at the back and the rubber floss bits are very loose and one seems to have broken in half after just a months use. To tell the truth, all this time I thought they were real! I only decided to look very closely after a comment on HUKD that basically all eBay Oral B replacements are fake. Definitely something that requires further investigation as I've been buying fake things all my life so I'm better at spotting these things than most and these had certainly fooled me

You can see where they sand out the logo. They just put a new chip on them, change the foam inside and fill with ink. So the plastics are the same since it's original. Tooth brush heads would be all new plastic and mounding. Though within the generic industry there would be good quality and low quality like everything. Some great fake ones out there. I just bought 8 off Ebay for $15 and did the comparison with your video. The differences are so easy to miss if you don't take the time to compare. You should also compare the "give" on the spin with your fingers rotating side to side. The tension is completely different - more ease of spinning with the original. Hope that doesn't interfere with cleaning as I'm not going to return these fakes. Not worth the hassle. Packaging printed Made in Germany so I called Oral B customer service and went over product numbers and all and she felt I had originals. Then I found your video. She was wrong. I thought maybe old stock as the color of the boxes was off. Bristles are bluer on the original than the fake (sensitive clean heads). Also, feel the ends of bristles with your fingers by stroking them downward. Different. Thanks for the video by the way.

@@ElectricTeeth I actually called Oral B/Braun here in the U.S. and she looked up the product number and what I had were replacement heads for UK, not US and therein are the differences. SO, who knows but the packaging was so detailed and legit looking I'm going to use them and hope not to FEEL a difference. Thanks for following up. Maybe your video could mention UK or European vs. American "could" be legitimate differences? Even though they are all made in Germany? So go figure.

Hi Deb. As far as I am aware, there are no real differences between UK/European and US brush heads. Sometimes they have slightly different names, but this I believe is marketing related more than anything else. I guess the colors in the bristles can be less intense or slightly different, especially if they are made in different factories. I don't know if they are or not, but they could be., This said, you would like to think there is some uniformity. The fact that the Oral-B rep said they were UK instead of US, gives some extra confidence to me that they are genuine as seller can trade stock internationally, although I imagine Oral-B would prefer they didn't. Good review on the differences between the genuine & fake Oral B brush heads. But, you missed one HUGE FLAW with the fake brush heads - when you put the brush in your mouth, the fake brush heads slow down considerably, & some of them can actually stop moving entirely. I bought myself a Sonicare toothbrush over the holidays after having used a Crest Spinbrush for many years, & a month later decided to try the Oral B Pro Health battery powered brush, just to see if I was missing out on anything. Just in the past month, I bought some Oral B generic brush heads by Oliver James from Amazon to have replacements on hand. I already watched your videos, so I knew full well these were fakes & thought I knew what I was getting into. Of the 20 pack I bought, 8 of them have this problem. For this reason, for anyone wanting to buy a electric toothbrush & use the fake/generic brush heads, I can no longer recommend Oral B & hands down recommend Sonicare. The generic Sonicare brush heads were nearly as good as the genuine Sonicare heads - so I will be sticking to them. For anyone that wants a Oral B style rotating brush head, for this issue with the fake brush heads & the cost of them, I will highly recommend Crest Spinbrush over the Oral B, as their genuine brush heads cost much less than Oral B's genuine brush heads, & deliver similar results.

Hi Rob, Thanks for the feedback. I have not experienced this slow down or stopping of the head working all together. I emailed Oral B/Braun in North America and the only informative response I got regarding real or fake was this: You can perform a scratch test on the brush head to help determine if it is an Authentic Oral-B product. Using a coin, scratch across the brush head’s Oral-B logo. Do not use a sharp object to perform scratch test. If the logo does not scratch off it is authentic.

Nobody cares about logos scratching off, or how many dots it has. All we care about is a good replica or fake that brushes as well or pretty close to the original, because the original brush heads ARE RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE. These things cost like 5 cents to make and are sold for $10+ each! THAT'S A MASSIVE RIP-OFF. We are not saying you should not buy replicas. There are some excellent ones out there that we are more than happy to promote and advise people to use. However replicas that do not brand themselves as official are quite different to true fakes/replicas that use the Oral-B branding. As this video title and contents suggests, this explains the difference between real and fake. It is quite different to buy good quality replicas and what you think are originals but turn out to be fakes. We do not want people to be cheated. We are merely trying to help people understand the difference. The problem is that some fakes are poor quality and can be potentially dangerous. It is a shame that you will downvote the video for that, but that is of course your choice.

"We are not saying you should not buy replicas. There are some excellent ones out there that we are more than happy to promote and advise people to use. " ==> in this case you should make clear which ones are the SAFE ones to use and which ones are NOT SAFE. Right now, your video suggests this is an advertisement for the official brand, thus biased, even if this was not your intention. For instance at the very beginning you state that one can be "duped" into buying fake brush heads, suggesting that ALL fakes are a rip-off, while we all now that the official brand over-price their brush heads (as Printer companies do with their toner cartridges, as Whatever already stated). Hence, a new review, please! In the meanwhile, long live the good & safe replica head brrushes!
