I was thinking that it encourages us to use build mode and also that it drives engagement. If we're all complaining about the inadequate houses that ship with the game, then we are fixing it and making content about it and just generally paying more attention.

Yes ive been saying that for a long time and i actually like EA builds for that reason. It gives me a reason to renovate a house. The new houses which are great and all are not fun to renovate because they are already better than what i can do.

Only time I think the theory doesn’t hold true are the really weird apartments in city living. You can’t make adjustments to the apartment building itself and there’s some strange stuff happening in some of those buildings. 😂

The “triangle shaped kitchen” bit made me laugh- I think what they meant was the “working triangle”, which means the stove, fridge and sink should form a balanced triangle so that they’re close enough for you to go to each one with ease but not too close because then it gets cramped, and also obviously having a fridge and stove next to each other is no bueno. But in the sims 4 that doesn’t really matter so who gives a shit? I’m a third year interior design student and I love all of your videos not just the building ones! Tbh your interior decoration skills are better than mine

My mom would always say "triangle" if i got too near the sink or fridge while she was doing something in the kitchen, so i knew what it was long ago. The kitchen in my current house was designed by monsters. 3 doors in a small space so it goes fridge stove door, space door wall, counters, sink door. Not only is the stove and fridge right next to each other, but the prep is literally on the other side of the room even if it's only a few steps away. Worse yet, the door that's between the sink and fridge is *to a bathroom* in a tiny nook at the top of the steps to the basement. If someone is using the toilet, you cannot go to the basement. If ya gotta go #2, you go upstairs.

Shotgun style houses are actually pretty interesting. I'm tempted to take it apart and knock it back a few decades or so. Omg I have the same bathroom philosophy. I should make them nicer considering my sims all decide to gather there during parties

@@eartheclipse8 Shotgun style homes are a long, straight line from front door to back door with sparse rooms (this one isn't true shotgun because it doesn't have a back door). They are so-called because of their shape and because we have to make fucking lore around everything, you could arguably fire a shotgun in the front door and the shot could pass through unhindered out the back door. :3 Gotta love how guns are built into freaking American life. :p An alternative theory has been put forward tying the term to the Yoruba term "to-gun" to refer to homes in general, because of the prolific amount of shotgun style homes in early New Orleans. They're mostly built the way they are to maximize value in building materials, because they're built by and for people who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford a home.

@@eartheclipse8 US home styles get worse there's also dogtrot which is basically shotgun but the central hall is a breezeway They are called dogtrot because the dog could trot from the front to the back without going inside I think the house in the video might be a mill house they are typically long and narrow because they are were built by mills to house as many workers in as small of a lot as possible

@@sistersgrimm1731 Willow Creek was supposedly based on New Orleans, so this might be a modified Shotgun House...in Willow Creek, you could see several others, including a humpback shotgun house, which was a typical add-on. But cheap worker houses were very common. I live in New York and ran across a Shotgun house as well.

I let my sims worry about how their house looks after I put them in it, unless, I'm like adding a room, for when a friend or a romantic relationship is moving in and the family needs more room, besides if I renovated all the houses before anybody moves in they wouldn't be able to afford it, gotta keep the housing market low for my sims, not all of them can live in a Gothic Castle or in a photo studio business house with a lot of bedrooms for models that are staying to do photo shoots, I have a huge variety of different households, and try to make every family I make unusual or unique in some way. I switch playing households for different gameplay styles.

This gave me an idea for a challenge I'm going to do. Go through pre-built houses in this game and refurbish them the best I can without changing any of the walls or adding rooms. Just making do with the space I'm given. I think it would be fun

Great video! The house looks amazing! About the worm thing I always assume my loved one is going to be aware of my transformation and there's no way of changing me back. So, for me, the question revolves around "would you take care of this worm knowing it was me but also that I don't have the memories nor the mental capacity to acknowledge it and thank you?" about the building ideas how about "build fake gamer girl's house" like what the builder think would be your ideal house, or a house that shows like a backstory or whatever. I don't know I can't build.

I don't know if anyone explained the whole "triangle kitchen" thing to you, but this is how I understand it. My dad's a contractor, so he taught me a bit of this. The triangle that everyone talks about in the kitchen has to do with the stove, fridge, and sink placement. Usually, you want them to form a triangle in their positions so it makes it easier to run between the most important parts of the kitchen. For example, if you have a stove and a fridge on the same wall, then you'd want to have the kitchen sink on the other wall or, preferably, on the kitchen island depending on the size and style of kitchen. Your sink would have worked perfectly on the island. It's more of a flow thing rather than esthetics, similar to how we position furniture to allow the best flow of traffic from the entryway to, say, the living room or bedroom. I hope this helps.

So to be a nerd and because your questions made me question and go down a rabbit hole: Apparently the body's internal temperature control system is in the hypothalamus part of the brain, which of course, is also part of the brain that is affected by ADHD and Autism. Not like, enough to be severe but definitely enough to be noticable. I know for myself at least, especially with meds my temperature control is all whack and I overheat like a MacBook laptop trying to run the Sims

Love that study nook ! It's so 🥰cuuutee . Also the triangular kitchen thing is about the fridge the, the stove/oven, and the sink all being in a triangle that is easy for someone/a sim to turn from one to the other. Like if there's an island counter in the way between the fridge and the sink or oven. A kitchen is a workspace, so well made irl kitchens keep this rule in mind. Hope that helps ! I always keep it in mind when I'm building my sims kitchens bc it helps me determine where things should go, with a reason behind it. Idk if that makes sense lol

Wow, it looks so nice and open now! My sister just started playing the Sims recently and picked this house to start in because everyone does. Even though she's got like $22k in her household funds she still refuses to update the house, and it's killing me. Instead of buying better furniture, she's trying to reach level 7 handiness so she can upgrade the default bed. If she weren't a console player I'd offer to renovate the place myself

I think the concept of the "triangle shaped kitchen" is to place the sink, stove and fridge in such a way that they create a triangle shape. I'm aware of this rule but I still ignore it and put my fridge next to my sink 😭

... that's actually how a "good" kitchen workspace is designed (in real life). The three are supposed to make a triangle so the cook has everything as accessible as possible. ~~ anyhow, I learned that from my grandma, so its probably now wrong and outdated, but I still think of her when placing kitchen items 😂

Three things: 1. The build is very pretty! 2. The worm prompt is hilarious and I'm ready to see more weird and challenging prompts. 3. "It's the autism" is such a relatable and at times fun explanation for many things. Sometimes you don't have the energy to try to understand yourself and it can be relieving to have even a remotely satisfactory explanation. Nothing like a bit of humour to alleviate the confusion of existence. :D

The "kitchen triangle" is a working-triangle: fridge > stove > sink. You want the workflow between these three tools to be usable.

I know I myself have made that comment about the kitchen being in a triangle. It does not mean the cabinets and such need to have a particular shape, it means that the path you would walk when going between 3 essential appliances (fridge, Stove & sink) would create a triangle shape. If you were to track your path it would look like a triangle from above, get it? =) Hope this helps... it is one of the first lessons taught in interior and architectural design.

Dude when I walk into a room there’s always a decent chance that I will miss the doorway and whack into the wall. I trip on stuff all the time because I’m trying to avoid it and mess up. Build competition idea: an outdoor house. As in, like, no enclosed spaces, everything is at least partially open to the outdoors. I’m imagining camping in some ruins, or living on platforms among the trees, or such. Doubt I could pull this off but I bet someone could!
