Faker has had enough.
This week, T1 were knocked down to the lower bracket of the LCK Spring playoffs in a 3-0 sweep at the hands of Hanwha Life Esports.
In the post game press conference, Faker shared how they’ve been unable to practice due to DDoS attacks on the team which he described as simply ‘unfair’.

I'm genuinely surprised at how so many people can look at one of the most composed (and arguably the most famous) players in the entire esports scene and say he's 'making excuses.' Throughout his entire career, I genuinely don't think Faker has ever visibly shown any frustration or annoyance at the state of the game or the professional LoL scene aside from the time soloq was in shambles. If there's anytime for him to complain about something that impacts him, I think this is perfect lol. Cause not only does this affect him on a personal level (not being able to play at a consistently high level for two straight weeks), but it affects his team, the org, and also the LCK/Riot Korea for the way they've been handling this.

i believe more esports actually leaned more to being connected to the internet than a traditional "lan" experience apex "lan" is also "online" , i remember afew other esports cut corners like that too though i can't remember which articles it was for league's case, i imagine that it might have to do with how chronobreak works maybe its lower in cost, maybe there are other reasons, maybe corporations cut corners because 5 ping is good enough as compared to 0 ping, unless you are the network engineer, i doubt anyone truly knows unless they publish it

@@namo2403 It isn't really cutting corners rather than making things like this more difficult. A DDOS attack shouldnt be happening at a local tournament - at all. The current way companies work is to enforce players to play on their servers to get more money, not on whats best for the game. Older senior developers for game studios would have never allowed this, and someone like pirate software spoke on this as well being in the security sector in the highest field, mentioning that local should be local, anticheat should not be kernel level etc. This is voiced down from people who KNOW security and cheaters. Kernel level and always online LAN tournaments are the worst decisions ever made.

@@ViperDivinity Might actually be, TENCENT was already having the game changed over the years to favor CN playstiles, and even changing the way the worlds' worked (ping issue) to give CN more advantages while screwing kr players. BTW, for those that don't know, supposedly at worlds they play with 0 ping, but there was one that they played at a relatively high ping, about the same as the one used in CN, and T1 was the HEAVY favourites to win that year. Don't remember when this was since I stoped caring about this matters for a long while and I only watch a bit when something big like this happens.

I think people underestimate the impact of such disruptions overall. It's not just having worse preparation, it's knowing you are sabotaged in a highly competetive environment, before facing someone that didn't have such struggles in preparation. I'd also say the impact was very visible in the way they played and even drafted. For example, Keria and Guma kept running it down against Nautilus based on the knowledge that usually they'd outdamage/outplay Naut engages on something like a Rumble support. Zeus' Reksai felt like a desperate meta pick he didn't nearly have enough games with. And I'm pretty sure Faker didn't play against a lot of Azir (that was previously globally banned) with his Corki.

I would like to think that this drama evolves because it revolves around T1. If any other teams get DDoS'd, I don't think it would get this big. It just shows how ignorant and blind the community could be. I would say HLE's win against them is completely deserved, but that doesn't change the fact that the DDoS attack still needs to be stopped.
