Look at deep rock galactic, literally no one has a problem with battlepasses in there, cuz you have a shit ton of time to complete it, you can freely complete previous battlepasses and you don't have to pay for them.

The monotization is pretty bad, the battle pass is lack luster, skins are 5 dollars each and they are full body outfits instead of individuals parts, and legacy skins are not bundled together as game sets, you cannot lab with DLC characters in practice OR fully utilize the player control in replays this is huge. So far the onlything positive about any of the monetization is the battle pass is easy to level. Compared to the shit we got in like previous games its so lame a consequence of Live service rot.

Honestly, the most egregious thing is not being able to see your replay matches with DLC characters if you don't own them. Other fighting games still allow you to do that, even if you can't lab them directly in training mode. What's wrong with giving players a small bone and allowing that small feature, eh?

You can replay matches you just can't control your character or the dlc character in replay mode to experiment other outcomes. It's bad but you still get replay rips and get to watch the metches with dlc characters you don't own

In tekken the new heat system is alright but there is this new focus in tekken where they want to force 50/50 mixups. For those who dont play you have to duck for lows but when ducking your open to mids. But generally in t7 you avoid 50/50s by big brain side steps back dashes. Thats kinda what makes tekken a defensive game. No one likes being forced to take a mixup. No one likes that most combos if done properly can take away more than half your health. The neutral is less rewarding, and the generally slower pace of tekken is not being looked at properly. Also the current top tiers are very powerful and broken but i dont have the brain power to talk about them.

Pros dont like that interaction between characters are getting simplified to be always 50 50 scenerios. Most characters got their stances buffed or where given stances to be able to get into a mixup situation and be aggressive. But the problem is that many of these characters where balanced by the fact that while they where generally strong in neutral they lacked damage output and mixup options like xioayu in tekken 7. The fact that the game is being balanced around having guarrunteed 50 50s like in the case with lars where now you cant option select his mixup by using rage art. The problem is not adding new flashy moves or characters with strong offensive options, its just that the game is removing counter play and defensive options like options selects, side stepping grabs, etc. Also adding the shop and battle pass after all the reviews for tekken 8 came out raving about the lack of microtransactions is really scumy. The game is fun but I dont like how its being treated and the lack of respect for players both in terms of their experience with tekken, and the amount of time and effort they put into the game.

Didn’t like armor attacks in 7, and I hate them more now. And the super moves can go back to where they came from. It seems like Tekken has borrowed too much from street fighter. First they stole the super moves, then they stole Akuma, then they stole the drive gauge to give you armor and dash in, and now they’re stealing the stupid battle passes that gives you dress up items for your avatars that nobody really uses. Somebody should tell Tekken, hey, you just be you, buddy, we already like you.

The recent patch notes show that they’re trying. They’re making changes to add more defensive options, and are being very transparent about why they are making changes. I’m still having fun with T8, but right now it is rough. The game is new and they seem to be doing their best with everything else going on.

I'm so mixed on Tekken 8 because on one hand, it's the most fun I've had with Tekken in a long time, and as someone who got into fighting games with DOA, I think it's great that stage interactions are more prevalent since taking advantage of the environment is one of my favorite aspects of that series. On the other hand, there are issues that even I, someone who has never really gone too deep into Tekken, can see. Most of them were brought up in this video, but special shoutouts to Heat's chip damage and that clip from Evo Japan of a Kuma player losing most of their health by blocking a series of EWGFs 😭 I hope the game's issues will be ironed out over time as 8 has so much potential. As for the guest character question, as I said earlier I got into FGs with DOA (5LR to be specific), so I'd be beyond overjoyed to see my girl Kasumi 😌

fun to speculate and farm clicks while the topic is hot, but balance patches will be added and monetisation is egregious but totally optional. T5 and T7 had infamously broken characters and poor balancing in places (Leroy) and look how well they did. Also T8 is the first game without an arcade release, so it still needs time in the oven.

@@xaevius5319tbf, plenty of games don’t get it right the first time, be it on purpose or not. take dota for example, a new hero is released and is usually broken at the beginning. bugs come out and patches come in to fix them. some problems don’t come out upon QA because it’s hard to test for every single scenario. this isn’t just true for games. this also happens when releasing new patches of any software out there. anything that considered a blocker to a software is immediately patched out, but changes that appear to be “broken” is fixed after a certain amount of time so the data is clear on how it needs to be fixed

My problem with the game trying to be encourage aggressiveness… it falls short to spam moves that could eat up most of the healths. No need for combos when you could do a one or two move over and over. Also, some character are hella delayed with their move-set so you feel slow as fuck.

Their dlc characters are just the last dlcs from tekken 7, nothing done for online, ranked is a mess, cheaters, laggers, even with a good connection high ping and delay, can’t even do first to five or ten in casual, no wifi filter, sessions and the lobby don’t do anything of use. Rematch should be quicker, no character select, automatic random stage select, the online is more focused on selling stuff than fixing problems that existed since tag 2.

Let's be honest. If you can win 3/4 games using only armor moves and grabs because most players are mad mashing and cannot grab break why would you even use elaborate tactics, korean backdash, frame traps, launcher setups etc. I wish everyone would be a little less plus in this game...

In my opinion the way azucena charging knee elbow attack is now makes it too hard for her to get in on any characters from distant. And should probably get the needing to hit the knee to do the elbow part remove but keep all the other Nerfs that it got

the problem with skins is there're 32 chars so not everyone can get one for their main. Also Kazuya's outfit is imported from tekken 6 and not adjusted for his model same as most of the skins Season pass doesn't offer anything at all except it gives you your coins back, so it's free if you already have tekken coins. Still... when you sidestep things sometimes punishes wiff for no reason, Some power crushes don't give counter hit property when hit with a low/throw. And they messed up a lot of things In the patch that introduced battle pass. It's fixed but since only 2 weeks ago.

On monetization: running a game costs money and as long as bandai stays true to "we will use the money to improve the game" it should be fine On balance: its new. Just like we learn how to play the new game, they learn how to balance it. On dlc: ROCK LEE

They lied about the monetization and the stuff they're selling is just reused assets from previous games and dumb avatar costumes no one cares about. The balancing patches implemented simce the release show they don't really know what they're doing. Last episode of Naruto aired 7 years ago and I hope so much you're not talking about anything from Boruto.

These days if I don't like a change to a game I enjoy playing, I don't grin and bear it, I stop playing. I didn't like the idea of the Heat mechanic in the game and decided it wasn't going to be something I played. Siege is another game I've abandoned after the latest update.

I'm fine if your game has microtransactions but they should be disclosed to the consumer in reviews and prior to release otherwise that's a dirty move. Also let people know what changes you're making and why. Don't change matchmaking when you're fixing all the stuff you broke the first time. Also also, don't attack modders that just make cosmetic skins for characters especially when there are still hackers, cheaters, rage quitters, laggers and other nefarious elements in the competitive game scene causing issues. Also is it too much to ask to be allowed to play w/ replays that have DLC characters that we didn't purchase? Does that hurt anyone? Is it that hard to code?

Personally, I started super excited. I'm a big Yoshimitsu fan and when I saw that finally they had made him viable and with a fighting chance in a tournament setting, I was living in the clouds. Of course that was short lived, since the first patch nerfed (killed) specifically Yoshimitsu, while buffing already broken characters. So this moment of having it to be taken away and the realization that Tekken isn't interested in balancing the whole roster but pushing Mishimas and a few others to divinity, making tournaments too predictable, made me lose most if not all interest.

Baldurs gate 3 was an example of what route tekken 8 should have taken without the need for any season pass and dlc and still a great game is possible but I think the hype around the release Inflated tekken 8 and the devs tried to capitalise on the increased popularity.

Tekken 8 rewards setplay. Any red rank scrub can unga bunga win over anyone, really, because the offensive options are so strong. It's never not your turn. Stages lead to massive damage. Hitboxes are jank on alot of characters. Semi casuals love it cause. You don't have to learn defense anymore.
