It's great to have good quality bmx tutorials on KZbin again. I'd love to see some more advanced tutorials, like turndowns or tables or something!

I can fakie like no ones business. It's getting out of the fakie I've been working on for 8 months. I just realized the other day you need LOTS of pedal pressure. People make it look so easy I thought they were hardly trying. This helped me a lot.

The getting out part can be SO tricky! The more leverage you have on that front pedal, the easier it’ll be, just past parallel to the ground is the sweet spot I’ve found. After some more attempts let us know how’s it’s going!!

You are a fakie boss, Mike. May take a few sessions lol! Or it may literally take years. And the whole time I was making the same two mistakes. Not releasing my forward foot pressure soon enough, and starting backwards with a slight lean. Once I fixed that it came fairly easy. I found a ramp to be much easier to learn on than from an endo.

Thx amigo!! Lots & lots of hours spent in an empty parking lot, for sure. 😵‍💫 Stoked to hear you’ve got it sorted out!! The revert can be so dang tricky. I agree, the ramp definitely feels a bit easier especially for longer fakies!

Awesome tutorial videos guys, I really like how you break down the tricks like no other tutorials. Your bunnyhop video helped me unlock extra height and a lot more consistency. It would be great if you could do a 180 and also ledge/rail grind tutorial!

I just learned how to fakie a month ago, but I can still only fakie out of a quarter or bank. Bonking the front wheel on a wall or curb to shift your momentum backwards makes this trick much more difficult IMO. Going to work on that part. Also currently working on learning 180s. Would greatly appreciate a how to 180 video. I'm working on 180s out of banks at the moment, but would like to learn on flat, and on fly outs as well.
@JoyOfBike
@JoyOfBike 4 ай бұрын
A quarter or bank can definitely make it easier! I've always taught it with a wall or curb just because everyone has one near by therefore making it easy to practice nearly anywhere! We'll get a 180 video in the works both flat & fly out. Thanks for the feedback!! -Mike

This is definitely something I’m trying… thanks for the step by step!!! I’m mainly using curb. Already I know my weight is to forward when starting backward.. lol.. I’m able to get to 45 degree and sometimes almost come to complete stop and barely power through… I’m using a free coaster so I need figure out what feet position I should get myself into to finish my turnout… thanks again.
@JoyOfBike
@JoyOfBike 4 ай бұрын
A coaster is a bit of a different technique because of the slack in the hub, using a slider or half cab to exit will make it WAY easier to master & prolong the life of your hub!

@@JoyOfBike i think I need to have my pedals set certain way to keep bike up, balanced and slowly ride away.. my problem is I’m Indian giving most of time.. I’m left foot forward but during this I backpedal to setup my right foot… when I rollout regular I think I need to set my left foot better for the turnout?? Does this make sense? Or do you always pedal out with same foot regardless of direction rolling out!! Thanks again of course practicing is the only way!!!!

Thanks yo!! We’ll get a how to video on those on the board, I think that’d be a fun one. Getting into them is the absolute hardest part, it’s all about committing to it. Start on flat ground trying to snap the bike up into you, you can dab both feet or a toe for safety as you learn!

Hi, I ride free coaster without brakes. I am getting close to pulling off my fakie but I just don't have the pedals ready for the power stroke to complete it. I noticed in your tutorial you were hopping out. Will this help me if I try this?
@JoyOfBike
@JoyOfBike 4 ай бұрын
Rad!! Coaster can be a bit more tricky to exit because of the slack in the hub, usually when I’m on a coaster I implement either the slider or half cab to exit the fakie. Slider is usually the more approachable method, & we show it toward the end of the video!

@@JoyOfBike I want to fakey for trials. As a beginning trials rider and aarp member, my take away is “steer with hips”. Check out some of the world cup trials action from Poland and see the riders there fakey - the initiation is almost invisible sometimes. Of course they fakey just to get a second try at an obstacle.
