I experienced emotional abuse at the hands of one of my ex's, it was brutal to deal with and it really messed me up when it happened. She would get drunk and completely dissociate from reality. It was really scary for me as well as she had a criminal record for stabbing one of her exes in his sleep. I kept trying to leave her place but I just couldn't for some reason, she would talk about us being "done" if I left, or that she would take her own life. She'd be pretending to send provocative photos in front of me and then withhold affection. I didn't even understand it at the time and just thought everything she was saying to me was right and that I was the bad guy. It was only after I actually talked about everything with my friends that they told me I was being manipulated and abused This is the kind of mental mind fuck this stuff does to people, and its goddamn serious, like more than so many who have never even had a taste of it realize the mental prison it puts you in. To see people faking it for clout makes me feel so enraged and disappointed at the same time.

It’s making my blood boil that as my mother is actively cutting off my support networks she’s getting such success off of this bullshit. This is what I want so badly for, for people to see my situation and empathize, to tell me I’m not crazy, but it feels just about impossible to prove a single thing when I don’t even trust my own memory because of her and she’s so good at manipulation when I try reaching out for help she makes me seem like just a pissed off teenager who’s acting up, who’s crazy and out to get her. But this girl, she got it so easily. All it took was some 3rd grade level bullying to get all eyes on her. As a man who just got out of an emotionally abusive relationship last Monday, this is truly sickening that someone would profit off of a serious issue like this. Me and my now ex girlfriend were together for over a year and throughout the whole year, she would constantly insult how I looked, she knew I struggled with depression and would talk me into taking my own life and how great it would be if I wasn't around, as well as cussing me out over the phone or in public in front of friends just for small things like not sitting up straight or just anytime I opened my mouth because I sounded "noticeably autistic" as well as many other situations that caused my mental health to deplete because of the abuse she was putting me through which she thought was funny. Abuse is not something to "flex" about nor is it something to profit off of. I would never wish what I went through on anybody nor would I want anyone to ever have to experience what it's like to be in that position. And to any other survivors who have been in that position or are still in that position, please know that you are loved and you are validated

Glad you got out man. Last night I expressed to my girlfriend that I wasn't comfortable with the way she was treating me, and it got turned in to "I'm not dealing with this negativity I didn't do anything wrong I'm taking a few days to reevaluate this relationship"... all because I asked her if she could let me know if she wasn't planning to call me back or not. Idk. I'm devastated, like I love this woman, but she just flips a switch and gaslights the shit out of me, and with my friend killing himself yesterday, and having a horrible week in general, it's just put me on the edge of a major depressive episode. I attempted suicide back in 2020 (5 days in a coma, came very close to dying), and I have serious trouble with depression, so I know how hard it is to break away from relationships like that. I'm wishing you all the best man.
