It blows my mind how in GTA IV, Rockstar come up with Innovative ways to make humanity feel more real. Even if they knew the lighting, textures, and shades weren't quite there yet on the graphics side, they still knew they could make it more immersive by making the character bodies react in certain ways, the car's had realistic handling characteristics and the NPCs would seek shelter in rain. Then in GTA V the graphical capabilities had improved immensely and they also sought new ways to make the NPCs feel more real, like having them react to you differently, getting scared if you followed them too long, take pictures of nice cars, etc. But for some reason, they completely disregarded the separate techniques they developed in GTA IV to make them more real, rather than combining them to make something almost perfect. If feels like a step forward and a step back at the same time.. Hopefully they can mesh it all together in GTA VI whenever they decide to make it.

I think you totally ignored the NPC’s significance in watchdogs 2, you can interact with them in different ways and have a choice over it, you can use hacking to find out about them, call the cops on them, see how they react and their models are way more random than the GTA 5 ones where you can come across the same NPC multiple times, you can find them around the map doing different things, different animations and they react in different ways, you’ve just skimmed over how they actually are programmed

@@Razorjaw86 I think the clip with the npc jumping out of the way randomly/artificially at 2:21 was more to show the contrast with the GTA physics engine with it's much deeper variety of responses (npcs will brace on your hood, stumble, get knocked back...if the player rams them with a car) and npc actions that tie in nicely with the games basic gameplay (running people over in GTA IV and seeing this unique simulated response each time is simply fun). Whereas in a Watchdogs game (and any other ubisoft game for that matter) you quickly become painfully aware you are just triggering a certain set of "dodge animations" over and over again (like the clip with the lady jumping out of the way of the scooter). Same is true for the rest of the game with npcs overreacting to your actions, doing something weird like stuck in a animation loop, ... I am playing Watchdogs right now and when you are just simply walking on the street, with its slow walk animation, taking in the city vibe, the sounds, the atmosphere, the npc activities and animations, hacking their information on your phone... it's frankly amazing how well that is done (I would almost dare to say it's BETTER than in GTA). But as soon as you the player with your actions disturb any this carefully crafted illusion of a living world it all falls apart quickly. Combine that with ubisofts very bland and limited gameplay and the game is far from a good game.

5:15 Actually, I found out that cops in WD2 actually will go off the road, but it will only happen in difficulties set higher than normal Also, in defence for the game I would say that Watch Dogs 2 NPC'S are flawed also very believable. They can react to your emotes (insults, flirts, dances, etc.) in a different way. The same applies about when you jack a car, NPC's fighting each other, when an NPC hits something with his car and even when you call the police on them (some abides, some tries to run away, but gets caught by the cops) And, of course your hacker ability to check their name, hobby, salary, their real time mood that can change, to listen to their phone calls and messages, and they will react to the missions that you did or didn't complete (for instance, when you get a side mission about a zombie virus (the computer virus that makes all messages change to the word "ZOMBIE"), you will sometimes see this virus in random NPC'n phones So yeah, I think that Watch Dogs 2 NPC's are not that bad

I hope you didn't talk about GTA5's great NPC ... I just love when I have a cop behind me, drive full speed on a rural road ... and no matter where I turn I know one thing for sure: there WILL be a cop appear right in front of me, out in the desert where no one is. Suddenly being swarmed by cops ... rubber-banding ram me from behind with a ferocity ... without first giving me a chance to surrender and give up. In fact in GTA5 cops usually shoot first ... in the 10 or so hours I played it I never got BUSTED ... they always WASTED me ...

@TechPrezz3 жыл бұрын
that is how its meant to be I think..in Cyberpunk most of the npcs are copy paste.... CDPR's main focus was on main quests and the storyline and I think they did it pretty well, despite the bugs. Cyberpunk and GTA 5 quests and story are completely different ones, I think there is no point in comparing GTA 5 with Cyberpunk 2077 just by dragging behavior of NPCs, one talks about our apparent distant future obsessed with technology, body modification and power.. a "bad world" and the other is trying to depict what the world looks and acts like now. And Yea there are some bugs that CDPR must fix...

Watch Dogs 2 npcs are way better than GTA npcs. The npcs in GTA ignore car accidents, they only all out fight or run/walk away, and they don't call the cops on other npcs. In Watch Dogs 2 you can watch two npcs get into a car accident, get out of their cars, and start throwing insults at each other. Most of the time one of them will come to their senses and return to their car, but sometimes they start shoving or punching. Other npcs will gather around and start recording on their phones or just watch. Eventually a spectating npc will call the police and the cops will come and arrest one or both of the fighting npcs. I love the npcs in GTA and Watch Dogs 2. In both games the npcs have weak points and sometimes act strangely, but Watch Dogs 2 npcs seem to act more like real people. Except from the weird dodging vehicles animations.

While GTA has some amazing details for the NPCs, but in my opinion, NPCs in Watch_Dogs 2 are way better than GTA NPCs, especially V. I'm not shitting on GTA or anything. Let's start with Watch_Dogs 2 NPCs: They behave more realistic to car accidents, they get out of their cars, and throwing insults at each other. NPCs do have common sense to return to their vehicles, sometimes they don't. Police do actually respond to car accidents and will arrest the fighting NPCs. NPCs can be found sitting on benches, just like GTA. But unlike GTA, NPCs can also be found cuddling on the bench, holding hands, making out with each other, streaming videos, etc. Gay and lesbian NPCs are also seen, you even find two male or two female kissing, holding hands, cuddle on benches. Including homosexual couples makes sense for San Francisco. Marcus can even pet dogs anytime, except K9 and other enemy dogs. GTA Online recently ability to pet Chop, but only in Franklin's office. GTA: All NPCs in GTA just ignore car accident, when they get out, they simply just want to fight them to death or simply abandon their cars in the middle of the road and never return. Police simply just shoot NPCs on reason, except people do arrest NPCs in GTA IV. NPCs can be found sitting on benches just doing nothing. They're never seen cuddling on benches, holding hands (except GTA SA), making out, etc.. They do carry grocery bags in GTA IV. Gays and lesbians do not exist in Los Santos or Liberty City or anywhere in GTA universe, only references and jokes. Again, I'm NOT shitting on GTA, but in my opinion, Watch_Dogs 2 has better NPCs behavior than GTA.
