Do you cover the form with paste like how you would on a whitetail deer or are you just leaving the skin on there raw?

The glue is injected under skin from outside after the mount is complete. If you can’t see it in this video it’s because of editing… in other videos you see the caulking is injected under the skin. Not everywhere though. In some areas that’s needed.

Hi Ben. When you wrapped the excelcior around the leg bone, what is the name of the tool that you used to dispence the string around the excelcior. Where can you buy it ? Really handy item. Great videos. Learning so much. Thanks !

Haha… it’s called a piece of wire. 😁 I made that. Very easy. Basically one end of the wire is holing the spool outside of my hand and the other end is in my palm with a little plastic tube attached to it to lead the thread out of my hand. Later on I will be making a video of the DIY tools in the shop.

I cant find in the video if you mention what gauge wires you are using. Do you have an opinion on galvanized vs annealized. I am thinking of using 14 on the body, 18 on the wings of a chicken Im working on.

I usually don’t follow a certain gauge size fir my birds all the time. Depending on their pose I can choose different sizes. But 18 is very light. I use black anield wires or burnt galvanized ( please do this outdoor).. wings can do well with 16, neck can be 14 and legs can be 12. Again it depends on the pose and how much bending will be required in different body parts.
