I think Majors should be dictated by the number of players and not by the presence of top players. There was about 700 players at Riptide but just because not many top 10 players were here, people don't want to count this as a major. I find that incredibly unfair to all of the good players that actually attended.

@@ngotemna8875 Alternative definition. anything that generates enough hype that you know of the tournament just by being a fan of smash. Super majors are the same thing but for being a fan of nintendo.

A major is a tournament that is more packed than usual. Some of these tournaments are either invitational or you need to win locals to participate. Regarding wheter top players need to be in majors to validate a win. The short answer, is yes. A major is worth nothing if all the participants are just local fodder. So, whenever a character "wins a major" , first you need to see who was competing on that major tournament.

Actually Liquipedia Smash think Riptide 2022 isn't a Major. And yeah, un general isn't because just have Zomba and Tilde there, the most powerful in there. So is just a Regional.
