From 1991-'96, Michael Irvin was so dominant; size & a lot of desire. Emmitt Smith & him, the Cowboys had two high-end players with a lot of desire.

A historical footnote to this game was that it was the final appearance as a television commentator for the legendary Merlin Olsen.

This was a bit of a surprise considering atlanta had everything to play for and dallas had nothing to play for. Falcons were shooting for a division title, Cowboys were locked into the 5 seed. THAT'S why they play the games.

Nah Dallas would've ended up being the 6 seed had they lost. Because the saints/falcons would've both been 11-5 and Dallas would've been 10-6. Dallas would've played at Atlanta and bears would've hosted the saints.

An underrated gem of a game before the NFL found out how good Dallas would be four the next few years and for Atlanta‘a unknown backup quarterback would be a pretty good player elsewhere!

The previous year, the falcons knocked the cowboys out of the playoffs in the regular season finale. Though both teams were in the postseason, it was still sweet revenge for dallas to best deion and the 2 legit 2 quit crew

@@slofever512 Yes and in fact they were one of only TWO teams all season to give the 91 Skins all they could handle in close games (the other being the Oilers).
