In this video, I'm reviewing my Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires after having them on my 2019 Toyota Tacoma Off Road for 20,000 miles. These tires have been awesome for me so I wanted to do a falken wildpeak at3w tacoma review video to talk about why I like them so much. This Falken Wildpeak AT3W review will talk about why I picked these tires and how well they've worn after 20,000 miles.

I was always a BFG K02 guy, been running them on my trucks, and the work trucks for years. But when I bought my Taco this spring I couldn’t get them, and after seeing reviews on the wild peaks decided to try them out. They do not disappoint, and have totally converted me. Absolutely love these tires; function and looks that are just amazing.

Nice!! I really like the look of the KO2s but some people I know had bad experiences with them blowing out on the highway so that's why I didn't consider them.

@@KnightWheelsMedia I currently have the same tires for the reason kimber mentioned. Due to comute, my buds on K02's and duratracs will be around the same mileage this winter. It'll be interesting to compare them all on 3rd gen tacoma DCSB's. Granted they are of different sizes (stock+, 32, and 34) and different trim trucks (Sport, SR5, and Offroad). So I won't considering I'm the one on 34's and with a locking diff, I may or may not be able to make more use of them over others. On the flipside my snow experience is mostly with crossover active-AWD platforms with upgraded rally level reserve damper systems (audi & subaru) being paired with dedicated winter tires. So I'm interested in seeing how a part time 4x4 system without limited slip differentials in the rear and center deals with the stress of intermittent dry road traction to snow traction with "all-terrians" compared to my previous experience.

I have 31,000 miles on my Falken Wildpeaks. Pro's: Quiet, great in snow and very good in wet. Con's: Mine are worn out at 31,000 miles and I don't drive off-road and rotate every 5,000 miles. Also, picked up a nail in mine right after I bought them. I can't decide what to replace them with though. I may buy the Falkens again but only because I am afraid of the wet handling of KO2's.

Great review. I have the same tires with 36,000 miles on them. Almost all of the miles on them are Interstate driving just got them rotated yesterday. They told me I have 8/32 left on them and they said that when you Buy them they come with 13/32 on them when they are new. All are Wearing evenly and I’m not even at the halfway point yet on tread life yet. They have been a good set of tires. Haven’t Slid in the rain or slid in the snow and dry traction has been good to. Start to buy the Goodyear dura tracks The only reason I didn’t get them the supplier didn’t get them in time to them there mistake made me a believer in these tires. I was going to have to take off another day off work to get the dura tracks so I bought what they had in stock. From what I hear the dura tracks are Louder tire at highway speeds and these tires are petty quiet even at 80 miles an hour. I have a ram 1500 with a hemi so I don’t hear these tires at all. I been happy with the tires I bought and when I need a new set of tires I’m going to buy the same ones they have been a great set of tires.

I just got my wild peaks replaced with new ones. I was rotating them every 6000 and probably few times went too long on getting them rotated. But they said at shop that after seeing and learning how the tires wear. That it's a every 3000 mile rotation on the falken wild peaks that will give you the longest life out of them.

leveled my '14 2wd F150 and put 305/65/18's on the stock FX2 18" rim. First set I took them off at 67k miles, and resold them with 9/32" still. Then bought another set. Bad A** off road performance. I aired down to about 16psi ish and they handled Rocks & sand to the point where I followed my buddy in his XJ down a jeep trail and never needed a yank. Another new Rubicon with BFG's was getting stuck in the sand and I just floated through. THESE NEVER LEFT ME STUCK! came across your video , looking for some reviews on AT3's. Ironically, I have a set of Coopers, and decided to change to the AT3's since I am going on a road trip soon, I wanted the 275's but with the current outlook on the price of gas, I decided to sacrifice a smaller size to 265 70 17 and not 275 70 17. I ended getting a sprint Booster and overall happy with the way it works. Appreciate the reviews.

I have 33x12.50R15 Wildpeak AT3W's on my 1992 GMC Yukon (w/ 3" body lift) for a little over 2 years now. I've been very pleased with them. Today, when I stopped to get the mail, some guy was there getting his mail also. He saw me pull up, and as I got to the mailbox, he struck up a conversation about my tires. He asked, "How are they on ice and snow?" (it had started sleeting/freezing rain and the streets/roads were turning to sh*t). I told him, "Great!" Which they really are. I've had no real traction/control issues with these tires. Lock it in 4 Hi, and GO, but drive sensibly! I live in southern Minnesota.

I thought I would comment here because this is a relatively new comment, I have read recently that they change the tread compound on the newer models of the wild peak, so have you gotten the same type of performance out of your latest set as you did your first set? I live in the Midwest probably get a lot of significant snow and I don’t really want to pull the trigger on a new set unless I know they’re gonna be just as good as the old ones.

I'm glad to see such glowing reviews. I've never doubted Falken tires, I've grown up over the years around people who have had some kind of Falken tire but never owned a set for myself. The first set I bought for my truck was a set of Kumho Road Venture's and that was due mostly to price point and availability (during covid). While I wasn't disappointed in the Kumho's they didn't seem to wear very well on my truck. I had about 40k miles on them and don't think I would've made it another 5k without them becoming racing slicks... I actually wanted to get a set of these Wildpeaks the first time but nobody where I lived could get them for weeks on end. Last week however I procures a set and I must say I'm genuinely surprised with how aggressive they look for an AT tire. They have the slightest whine driving down the road but it becomes unnoticeable past 55 mph. We get our first real shot at some winter weather this week so I'm hoping we get some snow so I can test them out for myself. I've driven in rain with them a couple of times and they seem to handle well. I hope mine look and last as long as some of the reviews I've seen at 20k and 30k miles.

Well, since this was a recent review, did you get that snow? How were they? Be great to know if your experience was good in the snow I just hope I don’t regret this ha ha
@dokilar1
@dokilar1 5 ай бұрын
@chrisb-br5nx believe it or not we did get a bit of snow. Not as much as they forecasted but I'd say a good 3-4 inches, roads were covered for several days, backroads anyways. I can honestly say I'm impressed with how they handled. There were a few instances in which I would've had to use my 4 wheel drive with my last set of tires that I didn't with this set. I can also attest that they handle wet pavement much better than my last set. We've had in excess of 5" of rain over the last week and a half and there are spots in the highway on my way to work that I normally pay close attention to. They handled those spots flawlessly. I paid $1079 mounted and balanced for my 275/60/r20's and I am thoroughly impressed. I got about 2500 miles on them (I drive a lot...) and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another set.

Thank you for this review. I have a 2017 F-250 with the 6.7 powerstroke turbo diesel and I am considering getting these tires since my buddy who also has a diesel said the K02s don’t wear very well. Wondering how these will do with how heavy this truck is. I had a tundra before and ran Toyos. This truck rides high so I think I can go bigger than the stock 275/70R18. I’ve had these for 2 yrs about 20,000 mile as well. Wore down from 13.6/32nds to 9. Loved them up until last week when I noticed all 4 tires were developing cracking along the tread lines. One shop said this is a manufacturers defect and said to go to a shop that sells them to initiate warranty. Currently going through this process. I have records proving rotation, and alignment. @@jelv.4142 long story, short…never buy tires online. Even if you save a few bucks. The online retailer won’t help you one bit in a warranty scenario. Local shops (understandably) won’t help either as you didn’t buy from them. Thankfully, Falken stepped up and warrantied me directly after I sent them service records, images, and had a shop measure tread depth with a report that didn’t cost much. They also needed proof of disposal by the shop I got the new tires from to make sure I didn’t resell the old ones. I’m on a new set and was reimbursed by Falken on a pro rated warranty. Tires are great. I’m hoping it was just an odd defect in that batch.

I have those exact wheels on my 4Runner. Did you have any problems with balancing? I getting steering wheel shimmy around 60mph. I’ve had them balanced 4 times, and someone said it was the wheels because they are lug centric, not hub centric. The shop I bought the wheels from said they didn’t have problems mounting them on 4runners or Tacoma’s. The tire I am running now is the general grabber atx, but I’m thinking about trying these since the grabbers aren’t balancing

My 2012 TRD sport came with 265's ko2's and I loved the look of them when I saw them on my truck, however, driving in rain sux. I've been watching videos about this tire and love the look of em even more than the ko2's and love the fact that it handles better on wet roads, also I wish these came in 275/70 /16 because I'm looking at getting some black wheels in 16's, so I might just need to get the wheels in 17's, unless you know of a tire that resemble these Falkens in 275/70 /16🤔🤔

Looking at these in 285/70/17 for the 4Runner. The ONLY hesitation I have is the weight - compared to other AT's in that size, they are HEAVY (the C-load tire comes in at like 64 lbs, and the E-load is 59?). If I'm going that heavy, I may as well consider MTs.

True. Honestly I would almost consider these to be like a hybrid AT/MT because of how chunky & heavy they are.

Man I want this EXACT tire but the 275s from Falken are heavy! 57 lbs. Any they're only C rated! Heavier than every E Rated 275. If I'm going from a stock Goodyear Wrangler at about 35 lbs. that adds over 80 lbs. to my total weight. Have you noticed a big decrease in your MPG??

The tire selection for 275 is not that big and from the research I have done so far Toyo AT3 Load Range E weight 51lbs. I was going to get the Falken'sbut they just weight too much especially for a Load Range C. I bought my taco with P265/70/17 with American Racing wheels for a total weight of 73lbs. I figure I go with LT275/70/17 Toyos (weight 51lbs) + Black Rhino Rapid Wheels (weight=23lbs) = 74lbs. Mathematically I shouldn't feel too much of a difference in the MPGs right other than a stiff ride?? It's a good thing you didn't end up with the Terra grappler g2s. When I bought my Tacoma, those came on mine and I hated them. After 20,000 miles, they were crap. I lost traction on wet roads all the time. Just giving the truck a little gas starting off from a stop, lost traction. Going around curves, it would fishtail. I finally got to where I could get new ones and I went with the Falken wildpeak at3w after a ton of reviews. When they took the g2s off, they said they were dry rotting and hard and they were always driven on and only 4 years old. I'll never buy Nitto tires. The wildpeaks haven't disappointed me.
