The stone corrals, located in many areas, were built by the first Argentine gauchos inhabitants of the islands. The purpose was to keep wild cattle confined. The first constructions date back to 1829, when Luis Vernet served as 1st Argentine governor of the islands. In 1833, British pirates invaded the islands

A british colonial outpost on argentine territory. With a colonial british population, administered by Britain through the island's colonial regime and a quite calm place to fish. Return the Malvinas Islands to Argentina, cooperate with the United Nations in the process of decolonization and also let the chagossians return to their homes in Diego Garcia. The fact the UK is richer, more powerfull and more influencial, do not makes them owner of the place, and not owner of the truth.

One class of geography when i was above 12yo, does not makes the UN recognize a sovereignty dispute and a colonial situation in the Malvinas Islands. Vs Britain born teachers, who go to the islands and teach inhabitants in Malvinas that the islands are not located in south america nor form part of south american but are located in the middle of the south atlantic.

Some of the Falklanders are eighth generation. Many Argentines only arrived in the early 20th Century, and have been there for 3 or 4 generations.

@@Themanyfacesofego, some of the descendant of argentines inhabitants of Malvinas previous to the british invasion of 1833 are more than eighth generation. In some cases they were born there before the british invasion. One example is Malvina Vernet, who was born there and their descendants are counted by haundreds. Did you know that before 1833, there were only spanish and argentines governing the islands?.

@@greedycapitalist8590 When they say "Islas Malvinas," they are referring to exactly the same place as the Falklands. That's Argentina's name for it (Spanish language). The people who commented are probably from Argentina. Argentina still insists that the Falklands are part of Argentina. While most of the world says it's British territory.
