Motor mount didn't work for my motors but printed it with a raft and taped a small piece of plywood to the raft . This will allow me to try out a couple of different motors. Should work good.

I reprinted the fuselage with 2 layers as my first print was too weak, added fiberglass tape to fuselage and wings to protect on belly landings. Set up with 2304 motor and 850 3s lipo. Weight was just under 500g even with extra layer and tape. Balance was good. Cramped fuselage but initial flight test was good. My biggest issue was motor mount but as it turns out I was able to attach my motor without using it. I used a part from a 2812 with a screwed on piece of wood. Inserted the part into end of fuselage and taped it on. Since motor is small no issues and 2304 has more than enough power. Should be a fun plane. Once winds calm down I'll do a longer test.

That’s awesome! How exactly do you mean the two layers? Nevertheless, it’s fascinating how light it turned out… 500g and reinforced! Let me know once you take a video of it flying! Adam

@@adam.jirovec I think the weight came in good because of the small motor and 850 battery and LWPLA with two layers just on fuselage and some fiberglass tape didn't seem to add much. Looking forward to getting it out again, but too windy for now as I'll want a pretty calm day for more testing. Thanks for the model. Printing the control surfaces with the wings, tail was a great idea to make the build easier.

Very good build video

Ok, I got everything assembled but I have a couple questions…1. How is the landing gear supposed to be mounted? You offered the option for it but didn’t show it in the build video. 2. How does that band keep the wings from coming off? He shows how to put it on, but it doesn’t show what is keeping them secure on the trailing edge of the wings. 3. Again, showing the installation of the rudavator control rods, you say to run them through a hole but the video doesn’t show what hole you’re talking about and I can’t see any hole that is open at the rear where the rods are supposed to come out. Now I have control rod bending and slapping the top and bottom of the fuselage every time I move the servos. You guys did a great job with this glider, I just wish the video was more clear on certain parts of the build.

1. 16_lg_mount_L_lg_mode and 17_lg_mount_R_lg_mode are supposed to be glued on the 1_1_fuelsage_type_2 and a wheel of an appropriate diameter and width has to be fitted. I am currently working on publishing that as a model as well. 2. The band is under tension and provides a fixation of the wings to the fuelsage 3. Both tail rods run through the center channel, which is only visible from inside the fuelsage. Thank you for this comment. This will help me to improve the Live Build Manual.

@@adam.jirovec ok, so for the landing gear, I’m guessing that the two brackets glue on each side of the wheel well, and you just put the tire in between them and run a pin/axle through the middle?

@@adam.jirovec also, can I present another idea that I think would improve the aesthetics?? Is it possible to create a cowling to fit over the motor so it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb…and the last thing I found was if you were to add some stress relief holes on the hinges of the ailerons and rudavators, it would reduced the tension and pressure on servos and lower the torque required to move the control surfaces. I actually cut out a few relief holes along the hinge line and it makes a huge difference in force needed to push/pull the control surfaces equally considerably lower stress on the servo motors. Anyway, just and idea 😁

Thanks for the info. Starting printing and so far so good. Just wondering how plane handles grass landings. Printed planes are fragile. Should I use a skid as the grass area I use is a bit rough? Will wings slip off without causing excessive damage on a hard landing?
@adam.jirovec Жыл бұрын
What material are you going to use? I printed mine LWPLA and I would not even describe it as fragile… Belly landings without any modification on grass are absolutely the best.
@jmcfadden8618 Жыл бұрын
@@adam.jirovec I'm using LWPLA. I'll go without mods as you suggest.

I've printed it and i wanna know where the CG should be how far from leading edge?
@adam.jirovec8 ай бұрын
Ideally 36mm from the Leading Edge as instructed by the manual.

How long was the control wire for the V tail ?? Just trying to buy the right one.
@jmcfadden8618 Жыл бұрын
Looks good. How far back is the CG? What motor did you use? Just wanted to get weight, thrust as a starting point.
@adam.jirovec Жыл бұрын
The cg should be less than one quarter of the mean chord length. I used 2306 2250KV motor with 3s. However, a 2s might perform better in this model, as it is very lightweight. Feel free to read more information here: www.printables.com/model/445044-rc-plane-falkonsen-1

I assume you just glue on the motor mount? I need to get some long wire for the servo links as the ones I have are a few inches short.

thanks for the great model! does it have a place to install a flight controller?
@adam.jirovec Жыл бұрын
Hello! Not directly predetermined. However, there should be enough space inside to install a decently-sized flight controller. Download the STL and make sure!
