You know this class is hard when he says “a few of you actually got the answer!”

My expectation is rarely that my students would get a question 100% right, though some will! There are too many tiny places to make errors. Heck, I usually have to fix my key after I start grading. It's not that I don't know the physics! It's just that all this algebra creates so many opportunities for careless errors. Be vigilant, of course, but always ask yourself if you understand the physics. If you do, you're okay (even if you're error prone.) If you don't know why a sign is negative instead of positive (and you error is one of understanding rather than careless), then you need to study more. When my students understand the physics, they will get A's even if exceedingly few will get 100's.

our dr. taught us that we should put (+) if it is against the gravity, I solve Q2 as we learn but I got -2275.9 N/m2 how we determine the sign, now I'm confused.

on Question 2? are the S specify gravity? I got a little bit confused on how gamma was changed to Soil time gamma water time h3?. thank you!

@@waynewagner2255 I just took a midterm and this helped me so much. Thank you for your time. I will subscribe to your channel and I will continue checking your video. Thank you again for the help. I did really bad on a triangle structure submerged. So hopefully one of your other videos will go over that. I really appreciated this kind of videos.

@@waynewagner2255 A right-angled triangular structure is submerged H = 4m into the water as shown below. The dimensions of triangle are /1 = 2m and /2 = 2m. The length of the structure is L Sm into the page. Take density of water p = 10 kg/m and g = 9.81m/s? (a) What is the net horizontal hydrostatic force on the structure? (b) What is the net vertical hydrostatic force on the structure? This is the actual problems. I probably didn’t explain correctly.

This class can only be efficiently taught w powerpoints, but my prof keeps deriving and deriving and barely gets to examples. Sitting at a C... first time i felt so helpless in a class

@@waynewagner2255 I appreciate you for a timely, lengthy remark with valuable information. Even though it is my duty to learn the material through the book as a student, I really didn't learn much from my professor. A bunch of typos in his work, and most the times all the examples he has done in class are no where the difficulty on the quizzes/exams. I definitely do believe i would've learned a valuable amount if I was part of your course! I 100% believe so.

in given sead that one side is filled 4m deep with acetylene correct ? in that case your gamma in right side is not correct and equation becomes quadratic and height of water should be 3 meters aprox
@waynewagner2255
@waynewagner2255 6 ай бұрын
The gamma used on the left was gamma_w = 9810 N/m3, The gamma on the right was gamma_acetylene = specific gravity of acetylene*gamma_w = 0,38*9810 N/m3. You can see this done right around 31:45.

I am studying in a college, and I have this course in my college. And the question from my test is harder than the question in the video. The same knowledge but question can be very sick.

Hi Joey Wang- I know this is late, but I could always do a video on your problem if you like. I'm sure you're through the class already, but let me know if I can help- I can't guarantee timeliness, but I will try.
