Glad they had the show. Lots of super nice stuff. About all of the black powder events have been canceled around here this year. The local club is still having the monthly shoot. Gunshows are still going but attendance is down. Might get to slip off to the woods in a couple of weeks Thanks for the videos. John Davis jax fl

Thanks Bob. To bad we don't have such a big black powder following up here in Canada. Would really like to attend a show like that.

There’s been one or two nationwide. We had a health inspector and convention center security guard there to keep things COVID friendly. 👍🏻

I know touch hole liners may not be period correct, but they really preserve and extend the life of the barrel, I don't mind them.

I don’t either. All my higher end guns have them.

Wow! Wonderful closeups and craftsmanship. I appreciate you taking your time and walking slowly. I live in central NC and will likely never make it to an event anytime soon so I appreciate you letting us tag along. I love the NC rifles!

Weird question but where is a good place to get flints. Iv looked around my river bank with no luck
@BlackPowderTV4 жыл бұрын
It's a good question. River banks or creek beds mostly. Where the cut out the hill for roads is another spot. I haven't searched much as my farm is on an old NA village and it gets turned up every time we disc the fields. You're in Tennessee right? You've really got to search and when you find a spot keep going back. It's everywhere where I am in Cannon County. Sorry I'm not much help on this one. By the way, I watched your squirrel hunt video. Good stuff.

@@BlackPowderTV I’m in Va thanks for the info and the black powder squirrel video is coming but my flints keep letting me down and not sparking enough an when I sharpen it I broke a huge chunk off so might thank alittle longer to make

@@JDubbsadventure I’d just get on trackofthewolf.com and order a few. I have hundreds so I haven’t bought any in a while. Not sure how costly they are.

I made the road trip myself. It was well worth the 1.5 hour drive. I picked up a nice patch knife and flint wallet for my kit. I got woolen shawl for the wife.

YA, "Ach du lieber, mein schatz"! Enjoyed both parts of these videos. How my heart ACHES (even at 81!) to shoot MY muzzleloaders once again before MY LORD takes me Home! Don't think GOD will allow black powder shooting in Heaven because of the "SCHMOKE & SCHTINK"!!! Too many questions I'd like to ask you, but here's one I've wondered about for a long time now. There was a rifle by a Mr. Priddy that looked like it had a BRASS BARREL. Can a brass barrel stand the black powder pressures like a steel barrel can??? My guess is NO, but that the answer could be different for a pistol VS a long barrel rifle, as the pistol would take a much lighter powder charge than a rifle. I'd sure enjoy an answer if you have time! Thanks und pass da "LUTEFISK" poleaze! "Gesundheit"!!!

I talked to Dennis about that rifle. He swaged the brass over a steel core. Believe it or not brass/bronze barrels were used in the period from time to time!

Can a person purchase a rifle at these shows ?
@BlackPowderTV4 жыл бұрын
William, mostly they are just displays of collections of originals but well known custom flintlock builders such as Allen Martin come to some of the shows (Mostly those are in or close to PA) and may have some flintlocks for sale. Mostly it’s about seeing all the collected originals and the research done on their histories. Craftsmen and artists will always have their horns, bags, measures, and other accessories for sale at all the shows.
