Hi Garden friends! I am ready for Fall Planting. Over the last few weeks I've gone plant shopping and accumulated a few plants in Steph's home nursery that will need to get in the ground soon. Our weather is finally cooling off and I can't wait to plant again. And I'm trying to grow some cool season annuals this fall for an early flower start next spring. Also, my friend Janey over @DigPlantWaterRepeat send over a surprise package that we'll unbox together. Tell me are you ready for some planting this fall? Comment below. Love your videos. I am in north Alabama Hardiness zone 7b but the past two winters we have had unusually cold temps down to 0 to -2 degrees for prolonged periods then unusually warm in March that caused many plants to break dormancy only to get frozen again in April. The loropetulums took a beating. I have several 15-20’ tall and they had so much dieback they look terrible. I am giving them till next spring and then may have to take them out. I have made sure they are well hydrated though our drought in August and September. No measurable rain fall for 8 weeks plus upper 90s so everything has struggled. I have probably 40 hydrangeas and only ones that bloomed this year were the oak leafs. The past two years have been hard here. Thank goodness for my hostas and mallow family plants and azaleas to keep me cheered up. Happy digging. My garden is always a work in progress.🌺🦋🐛🪰🪲🐝🐝🦋

Hi, I just found a video of yours on an "iris and peony garden" search and I think your cottage garden landscaping is beautiful. Then I saw you had a Vego raised bed video and I've just purchased one and will set mine up in Feb./March. I became a new subscriber and now 2:41 minutes into the 3rd video I've viewed and I find I share the same thought about hostas and am in the process of giving all the ones my house came with away. Truth be told, I'm not a big fan of many big foliage plants (lamb's ears included). That being said, I'm starting to change my mind with plants showing interesting texture, shape, and color. You had several in that iris and peony garden video that I paused and had to research. I think I'm going to learn a lot about this and styling from your videos. Oh, and love the stone walls! Anyway, I'm going to get back to the video now....

Hi Steph, I asked ChatGPT asking if we can plant Euphorbia in zone 9 and this is the answer: Yes, you can plant Euphorbia 'Ascot Rainbow' (spurge) in USDA Zone 9a. This plant is well-suited for warmer climates, including zones 5-9, and will thrive in your area. It prefers full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil. Euphorbia 'Ascot Rainbow' is drought-tolerant once established, making it a great choice for low-water gardens. Just be mindful of its sap, which can be irritating to the skin, so wear gloves when handling it. 🥰

Hi, Steph! Your hydrangeas are amazing! May I ask if you have them on drip? Im wondering why mine skip the pink stage and brown too early (zone 5b, near Chicago).
@HookedandRooted4 ай бұрын
Hi Becky, My best guess is the water could be the issue as you are in a cooler gardening zone. I usually hear southern gardeners or zones 8+ where their panicle hydrangeas don't turn pink due to warmer temps. The cooler temps help with the color change. My hedge of little limes aren't on drip, but that area of my garden does retain a bit of moisture as I have some anemones planted on the other side, and those do great (they love water). Hope this helps, and perhaps others can chime in on their experience. Thank you so much for watching and for your comment.
