Thank you so much for this amazing video. I made many notes on how you choose the scenes, how you filmed, what you filmed. Basically I tried to learn as much as possible from your piece of art. Reason being because I tried to make a short holiday movie about my trip with my god-daughter in the Swiss alps. Ofcourse my film wasnt anywhere near this level of beauty, but the family and my god-daughter were very grateful for my small short film. Couldn't have been possible without you sharing your work. Thank you very much for sharing your talent and helping me learn and grow!

@EvanSchneider Жыл бұрын
This was pretty early after the release so there wasn’t a great nd solution. So I shot with the native camera app with no shutter control. The shots with motion blur are added in post using Resolve. But ideally I would use ND and shoot as close to 180 as possible!

beautiful video. love how it was filmed. looking at the video, I wanted to ask if some video's were shot at a high ISO, some areas in the center of the video has grain and I wasn't able to tell if its the phone or a setting. been looking at this phone if its worth updating mine from the year before.
@Bluemanta69 Жыл бұрын
I noticed as well but it's most likely due to video compression. I have an iPhone 15 pro and with low iso, there is absolutely no grain at all. Maybe it was his choice to add it in post...

Great footage, excellent dynamic range for a phone! How many stops do you think there are when shooting LOG?
@EvanSchneider Жыл бұрын
Thanks! And yes, it's very impressive. Shooting Apple Log on the 15 Pro/Max you can get about 12-13 stops of dynamic range according to Gerald Undone's testing. And I found that to be accurate to my experience shooting this film.

@antonyb Жыл бұрын
Looks like the iPhone loses it with fast-moving footage (road ) and starts to look blotchy vs the more still image videos.
@EvanSchneider Жыл бұрын
No ND, I absolutely would have used one if there was an easy solution at the moment but most companies are still adapting their mounts for the 15 Pro. The artifacting you’re seeing on the driving footage was a motion blur effect applied in Resolve to try to mimic it a bit because I hate the stop motion effect from a fast shutter. So to me the trade off was worth it. Good eye though!

did you add sharpening in post? i thought log should not have sharpening baked in it. your shots looks too sharp. not good imo.
@EvanSchneider Жыл бұрын
No sharpening added. The grain I added brings a perceived sharpness, maybe that’s what you’re seeing. Even still, my X-H2s is much sharper than the iPhone 15 Pro footage, it’s actually relatively soft. Even if it’s too sharp for your taste, you can easily dial it back in post if you want. Also lol that that was your main takeaway from this video.

I filmed in 16:9, I letterboxed to 2.39:1. I upload in 16:9 with mattes because it gives me more control over how the final video is viewed on various screens. Prevents the video from being cropped in to fill the frame vertically and ruining the creative intent.
