Thank you for allowing my brief return to Convict Lake. So many memories of my childhood are scattered over the leaves and stones of that timeless place. I miss my father's laugh, snagged fish hooks, and quaking aspens. If I ever felt holy standing at the center of a cathedral, it was there.

How I wanted to return this Fall, it was my home for 8 years starting in1974, and Convect lake/Mount Morrison was always my favorite place to visit. I am so happy you decided to go Catherine and give us a view of what it looked like; perfect timing. I have to tell you a story. I worked for the Mountian and had a very dear friend named Myron who worked in the cafeteria. He was a genius playing "low ball" poker and would tell me of his sessions down in Bishop some days. One morning he opened the kitchen and was sitting in the back part of the dinning area, about 3:00am, by himself without anyone around drinking a cup of coffee when he looked up and saw a 400 pound black bear standing right next to him (that was on the 3rd floor); it had just finished eating almost a 5 gallon bucket of strawberry filler for jelly donuts. You look so at home in the video.

Cat... Watching this has been a blessing on a cold morning with a mix of rain and snow while locked-down. I've often thought about taking in June Lake Loop on the Sunday afternoon of my annual "weekend in the Greater Bodie Area." This year, presuming we're all free to travel this summer, unless I get "a better offer", I think I will! BTW, if you want to see an explosion of fall colors in the Eastern Sierra Nevada, I highly recommend the last several miles of CA 270 heading towards the 395 road just before sunset. Awesome! Also, if you go hiking McGee Creek again, I suggest you draw water upstream of the pack trail. Why? It's one of my favorite trail rides. And... I think you get the picture! May God continue to Bless and protect you.
