@@Pihtorich it's a reference in the wcI or II manuals. To build the ogre magi unit an altar of storms was needed. That was carved from the runestone at Caer Darrow. Great video! I like to think the Gurubashi's reverence for the element of water explains why/how the Darkspear sailed all the way onto their islands in the great sea. Yeah I was reading through the wiki this week looking at how the Dwarves came to be, and how at the end of the War of the 3 Hammers Ragnaros was summoned by the Dark Irons which caused Redridge Mountains to become the Searing Gorge & the Burning Steppes. Just like Ragnaros, Neptulon was imprisioned by the titans following their war against the Black Empire, and while we don't know how or when Neptulon was freed again, with how closely tied the Gurubashi are to water through the Tidestone, maybe they had some hand in the ritual to free him. I think it'd make a lot of sense that in the Sundering the Gurubashi delved into their forbidden lore, seeking to summon Neptulon to protect them from the Sundering, in return for his freedom he'd grant them a piece of his powers through the Tidestone so long as they didn't misuse it or something, when they did misuse it he punished them, but he still kept to the deal, sending them the Tidestone every so often.
@Pihtorich7 ай бұрын
Why would you think he was freed? As far as I remember all throughout vanilla he's mentioned to reside in his own plane
@Jediwarlock7 ай бұрын
That's a good idea! It's true we don't know how or when exactly he escaped, but that is very much a possibility! Part of me also thinks after the Sundering the Elemental Plane was weakened somehow and elementals had an easier time making it to Azeroth again... Neptulon also seems to be the "nicest" of the four Lords and it's also possible he somehow negotiated a release from the Plane as long as he didn't go cause chaos like in the Black Empire days.

You know, if you fast-forward to Mists of Pandaria you will find an Emperor's tomb and temple located in a very large mountain that is connected heavily to the Gurubashi and Zandalari. In a zone above a holy vale. Coincidence, retcon, or background lore that finally made it in?

Hi Jedi! I wonder if the game would be better if more hints like these were dropped during various questlines. Basically, the developers make these theories canon and put just enough information in the game that enterprising players could figure it out, while everyone else can simply enjoy the historical ambiance and appreciate how it probably does point to something real.
@Jediwarlock7 ай бұрын
I agree! I think that would be very cool. Plus, with the hype of the Souls games having very vague/mysterious lore, I think this could fit traditional WoW questing very well too!

4:22 I mean early lore had the Silithid uplifted from regular insects and then the Aqir from the Silithid and the Nerubians and Qiraji from the Aqir, later lore reversed it so the Aqir are just from Old God flesh and the Quiraji, Silithid, Nerubians, and Mantid descend from there

8:30 This would have made for (or could still make for) a GREAT boss in (another update to) ZG or a new, recently uncovered troll city, etc. I could imagine that boss having mechanics where they phase out becoming invincible and you have to break something or somesuch to make them corporeal again while dealing with Tide Elemental adds. It would be a great way to tie in old, one-off legend lore from questing that otherwise would just be thrown away for the most part.

That would be awesome! :D With SoD adding another boss to Molten Core already, I'm curious to see what they'll do for the future phases!

If I remember correctly (I didn't bother to look it up), there was a piece of lore stating that Farraki and Zul'Farrak was build to fight with Silithid and Quiraji and those scarabs are actually cursed Silithids. I don't remember if this comes from the classic era or from retail.
@Jediwarlock7 ай бұрын
That's a good point! When researching this vid I stumbled across something similar in Chronicle... Zul'Farrak was a major bastion of trolls against the early silithid... it's possible some of them evolved over time to become the common scarabs :)

A lot of WoW KZbinrs/machinima artists/etc. do these kind of shots/camera tricks by having their own personal offline private clients/servers where they can give themselves GM powers. In this case, I believe it's done by taking a character, make it able to fly via GM powers, go into first person mode, and using that to emulate a panning camera.

Possibly! Especially if Neptulon had turned against the Old Gods/other elemental lords sooner than we know about... then he could have been working with the Titans or Keepers to seal away the "bad" elementals and potentially would be involved with things like the Pillars of Creation :)
