Good call, I just went back and watched that video again. I'm wondering if it's because he now has his weeds under control so he no longer has a need for the Spectracide this time around ¯\_(ツ)_/¯? I've got weeds in my lawn so I'm on my way to Lowe's/Home Depot to pick up a bag since it has pre-emergent in it, maybe this time next year I won't need it as well. Good luck!

I used granular pre emergent last year and had lots of weeds (need to get a better spreader) so this year I decided to use a liquid. I'm thinking of putting down a granular too when the weather is colder. I'm going all out with the pre emergent this winter and next year!!

4 weeks after moving into our new home with new Bermuda sod, the lawn is looking much healthier. I applied a 10-10-10, 2 weeks ago and weed and feed 4 wks ago. Did some topdressing and leveling too. Starting to be the neighborhoods best lawn 😃 The larger crabgrass was treated with spot Tx CG killer for lawns but it still not dead after 2 weeks. Any tips? I’m in N Georgia. Also no premergent for new sod even if was layed 4 months ago? Thanks!

Doc do you recommend a preemergent for cool season grasses also where we get temps in the single digits over winter? Not many weeds can survive that cold..

Lots in the spring.... not a big problem up north you're right.

Warm spells in the middle of winter happen up north and without a pre emergent weeds will take over any weak spots in your turf. If your turf is thick you'd probably be ok skipping but it always does help prevent the poa which creeps into even the thickest of turf.

Doc I need HELP! My lawn is a mess from not paying attention to it and using the wrong products. The house is new (near Charlotte in SC) and we had new sod 1 year ago, we didn't water it as much as we should have probably. I pulled weeds last year (no chemicals) and mowed when it was way too long. The grass is VERY sparse with brown patches all over. I put down some pre-emergent (Spectracide you used in another video) a few weeks ago and then added some of the Organic fertilizer you were selling on Amazon in my front yard (which has no weeds, I hand pulled them all). My back yard however BLOSSOMED with Crab Grass (apparently I got the pre-emergent down too late) so I went back over and spot treated the weeds with the wrong stuff! I used Weed AND LAWN KILLER!!! Now I have orange/brown dead patches all over the back yard. Should I dig up those orange patches and put soil down? I feel like every time I try to do something I mess it up worse which is why I am asking for help. I can make a video and post it on my channel if that helps?? I just want a lawn ... :( I know I messed up, I just want to know how to fix it....

Just leave it alone and chill a bit... let winter come and follow the calendar starting this winter. WINTER... is the great equalizer in lawns. Gives you a fresh start come spring.

Start off SMALL... like a 2... if you need to double pass that is even better. The particles are tiny.

I put out some of your recommended organic fertilizer and Humic DG. Immediately after north Texas got hit with over 4” of rain. Should I reapply? Lawn company that I’ve been paying prior to coming across your channel came out and put out fertilizer and liquid pre-emergent as well as treated for army worms which are really bad right now. 1) If I put out more organic fertilizer will I burn my lawn due to the yard company just putting out fertilizer? 2) Should I reapply the Humic DG? Do you think 4” of rain in 48 hours washed it all away?

I think you're ok. Tough to wash away humic. Give the lawn two weeks... then apply more organic if you want. It will not burn.

Now that's funny... but strange. Label is online if you need it... but start very light and go over twice if needed to get the right application rate. That's what I did. i.e. how many pounds to put down, then start light and go over twice zig zag. If that makes sense. I'm not sure on the mini.

If you're up north... the fall treatment is not as needed if you don't have winter weed problems.

Not a big fan of pre-emergents, they work for a few weeks, but new seeds blowing in will germinate and grow. One would have to apply PE 6-7 times a year where I live, and that's not recommended.

You'll get much stronger results with the PGF Complete, and it's a MILD fertilizer designed to minimize runoff. The organic is good, but just slow and not as complete for the lawn. You can apply both FYI and stack them.
