I love how both items turned out. When you said carpet/upholstery fabric for the bag my mind blew! Like what a great idea! For the button holes, I put a pin to stop me from going to far up with the seam ripper but I just poke it then snip it open

wow, I really like the flow of it, maybe a small back adjustment would purrfect it - the pack piece falls a bit down, maybe to shorten it by 3cm would even the "waist line" out a bit... I always have to do this in my sewing as my back is a bit shorter, or maybe it is supposed to hang a bit, however the more polished look would kill it in this material =)

I love a more fitted and polished look as well. I think a back adjustment could definitely work. I tend to have to make many adjustments to the back because my shoulders are proportionally broad compared to my waist and I have a sway back. When I make the next one I'll play a bit!
