In this video I make my way back towards Wallace Lake where the trip began, little did I know that I wasn't going to make my destination!! Part of the challenge was my lack of preparation for this last leg of the trip and a curve ball from mother nature!! Lesson learned to ensure I have all the details of the trip, sometimes these mental hurdles can amplify the situation when not expecting them!
Enjoy the video, one last shorter video to complete this trip to be posted soon.
Cheers,
Mike

Wow great video series! Such an amazing adventure into true wilderness. Some of those over land paths seemed so grueling. The detailed info on your route is invaluable as well. Huge props to you good sir.

Oh man, I feel for you! I had something very similar happen to me in Quetico last summer. The water levels were so low that I had a mud slog/bog fest, even later in the day. I had to spend the night there as I was exhausted, physically and mentally. I remember the next morning when I finally made it to open water, it was a feeling of pure joy and elation, much like what I see you experienced. You have to go though that to understand! Thanks for sharing this; it was cool to watch. Sad that there is so much fire damage up there.

Thanks for taking time to watch! There were a lot of moments on this trip that I wish I captured on video, but that was the last thing on my mind in the moment! A lot of burn, but looking forward to going back to the area with higher water levels and new growth.

Thanks for making the video of this route, probably better in spring or high water years. Nice camp for the last day.

Agree, if taking that last section into siderock would definitely want an idea of water levels. Although, if it was spring or summer there would be a a few hours more of daylight which would take the pressure off and allow for more breaks. Campsite was great, just what I needed after that long day!! Thank you for watching!

That was a tough slog Mike. Not that I'm likely to paddle that area, I appreciate the effort on you showing the mapping details. As well, have you ever tried to use the pant's with the zip off leggings? Can take the leggings off in the boat, and put them on for the shin scraping portages. Looking forward to the last leg of the trip! Cheers Tyler

convertible pants are the only thing I wear, at the time it was hot and I figured because it was so dry with sharp branches I would just get hung up or tear them. That said I am going to start to wear them, they aren’t really hot I guess it’s just been a habit! Thanks for watching! Hope to get the last video posted over the next couple days. Mike

I’m curious… when you registered for your park permit with Woodland Caribou Prov. Park office, did you ask for route updates? Their canoe route map show more accurate portage locations. It might have saved you some guess work. I really enjoyed this series of videos. Well done.

I didn’t do much of a search as I was confident in paddleplanner and had my gps and topo maps with me. Will definitely look at additional maps next time, have the mywoodlandjourneys map which will help a lot
