@@ghostofmoredishesmorebitch1507 Rodon’s 1-4 with a 6.27 era, of the other guys on that list none have been productive even when healthy. I purposefully omitted Judge despite missing over half the season because at least he’s been productive when in uniform. No cherry picking going on the Yankees front office simply pissed away $142 million on underperforming vets with durability issues. Unless you believe Rizzo Stanton and DJ are trending upwards and Rodon will magically heal and never miss another start in a Yankee uniform.

The Dotcom Era Dynasty ended for the Pinstripes in 2009. Its why they haven't been back to the World Series since then. And NO, they were NOT close in 2017. The Astros were a Decades long Basement Dweller Club that all of the sudden BROKE through and won the the Crown by beating the Largest Most Expensive Clubs in the MLB and that pissed off folks, so they fabricated this phony ass Cheating scandal to force Free Trades while the Hypocritical Yankees covered up their OWN Sign Stealing and Corruption and then picked up 2017 Astro CY Young Starter Winner Garrett Cole. They weren't good enough in 2019. Either. As for 2022, EMBARASSING. This where the Yankees Fanbase started to REALLY piss off other MLB Fans like me. They had the audacity to call that 6/25/23 No Hitter a Fluke, Boast that since they were #1 in the AL East that they were BETTER than every team though Houston was 8-2 against them, Flaunt that pathetic ass Easy Schedule Manfred gave them. Dance around during the ALCS like it was going to be an easy series, only to be utterly DESTROYED by the Astros in a 1-2-3 touch and go Sweep and then come up with excuse after excuse. I hope the Yankees go through ANOTHER Decade of NO World Series. They deserve everything they're getting right now. I'm SO happy as a SF Giants fan that the Pinheads didn't make the World Series the entire 2010s. May 2020s be the SAME. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mX_HiZSCrs2djKs 5:00.

For someone who(I'm assuming) is not a Yankees fan, you did a great job covering what we've all been saying. There are some things that you didn't cover when it comes to the awful construction though: 1. The lineups they create are overwhelmingly right handed, which is ridiculous for a team that plays in that ballpark 81 times a year. Even someone like Didi Gregorius hit 25 home runs in a season because the ballpark was made for lefties. 2. The team is still too old. Watching Rizzo, Stanton, LeMahieu, and (especially)Donaldson this year has been like getting kicked in the balls every night. All their money outside of Judge and Cole is going to towards guys who are way past their prime, which is how they're able to be under .500 while somehow still maintaining an almost $300M payroll. 3. They never play the kids when they should. For years this team has been calling up prospects way too late. That may be a product of their abysmal scouting, but Austin Wells was drafted as a 19 year old, is now 23 and just got called up to AAA. They also refused to call up Peraza last year when everyone was calling for IKF's head. But the worst part about this is that Brian Cashman will settle for bargain bin players like Jake Bauers and Billy McKinney because he thinks that he's so smart that he doesn't need to get Bryce Harper or Corey Seager or literally any other all star level player with a lefty swing for Yankee Stadium, only for those said players to be stuck in their positions and blocking the young guys in the minors. The worst case of this is Josh Donaldson(not bargain bin obviously but it follows the same line of logic), a trade which made no sense from the second it was announced. Peraza was tearing it up in AAA only for .150 Donaldson to block him for months; it took a season ending injury to finally bring Peraza up. And there's no hope it'll get any better. Obviously the Cashman extension is the main reason, but it's not just him; the organization is full of executives and directors that have been there for almost 20 years. There needs to be change, and the only way that happens is if Hal gets off his sorry ass and fires Brian Cashman, who's basically his new father at this point. I could go on about the arrogance, the awful pitching scouting, them blaming the fucking roof last year, but this comment is already an essay lmao

This may be only one example, but it's close to my heart, and symbolic of the Yankees nowadays. I used to work at the concession stands for the Staten Island Yankees the season before they folded. When I was done with work, I was free to watch the rest of the game as desired. One of the players that stuck out to me was an infielder by the name of Ezequiel Duran, and by my judgement, was their best hitter. A couple of years pass, and I see a player of the same name playing well for the Texas Rangers this season. So at some point, the Yankees traded him. For whom, you may ask? Joey freaking Gallo. A rental. Duran's versatility in the infield is something the Yankees would have found mighty handy this season considering all of the injuries they've had, as well as a solid, young bat. Again, though, this is just one of many examples of how the Bombers are currently unable to identify quality prospects in their own system. Also, support your minor league baseball teams. You never know when they'll be gone.

I think the injuries to Judge and Rizzo (simultaneously) are a significant contributing factor to this season's results. And even Stanton isn't able to run fast in his current condition. They built up their team as a power-heavy team, and when all their power guys are injured, that's going to be hard. And like other people have said, their division is incredibly competitive compared to, for example, the AL central.

Cashman's early days he was really just a high paid gopher. Steinbrenner gave his one job, go out and find the best talent and pay them whatever they want to join the team. That's an easy gig now he has to run the team and deal with negotiations and that takes a skillset I don't think he possesses. He tends to overpay people who can no longer contribute and trade for guys late in their careers who can't help for long or at all while almost completely ignoring his pitching staff. He also likes to use Triple A as an extended bench rather than promote good players they draft. He's definitely not entirely to blame. Boone doesn't seem to have a plan and changes things up so often it's tough to get any real continuity. To be fair injuries force this a lot but young talent never seem to get a chance with him. They get 10-20 games to prove they are an all-star or they are deep sixed on the bench or send back down to the minors. They did really well when half the team was hurt a few seasons ago and they brought up all those young guys and he managed them like a small ball team and they were amazing to watch. To fix this team they need to commit to a vision rather than trying to play in both lanes at the same time. Commit to the youth and develop them at the big league level before you waste Judge's and Cole's good years completely.

In other words - REBUILD. I'm surprised at how terrified Yank fans are of that word. You are going to have to develop young talent, bring them up, and let them play - for years - as they make mistakes and learn the ropes. This means down years. They happen. Everyone deals with them. Yanks did well to dance around it for thirty years but reality caught up.

Very well said!! Excellent recap of the disastrous season this has been thus far! And for anyone who says “they are still in it”, please note the following. Yes, mathematically they could win 90 games and “maybe” make the playoffs but need to go 27-4 to accomplish that. After all, in 1995, they went on a 26-7 run to win rye first wild card spot. HOWEVER, that team had Bernie Williams, Paul O’Neill, Wade Boggs, Mike Stanley, and even Donnie Baseball (in his last year). They also had Cone, Pettite, Kamenicki and decent closer in John Wettland. I have absolutely no faith in this team that they could even come close to that type of run. In short - they NEVER should have fired Joe Girardi, NEVER should have signed Stanton and need smarter front office staff to develop new talent.

It's the fact that Cashman got lucky plugging holes with guys like Gio Urshella and Luke Voit that actually panned out for a period so bringing guys like IKF Donaldson Bader and Bauers "shouldve done the same". Theres been abysmal pitching acquisitions that now cripple the team, Rodon is worrisome, Montas hasn't pitched at all this year and was horrible last year, they just keep missing and missing hard.

Remember the traditionally successful line-ups that played to the strengths of Yankee Stadium.1.Create a positive balance in hitting, pitching and base-running: two lefty hitters or switch-hitters who hit for average, two left pitchers who can give you serious innings, trade or DFA unfocused or completely unproductive players. 2 Make sensible line-up decisions and stop ridiculous pitching changes and non-changes. 3. Stop overpaying for no-talent players. Some examples: 1. Getting Cody Bellinger, maybe also Bryan Reynolds, for outfield, getting Luis Arraez for 1B, 2B or DH. A lefty catcher who hits his weight, like Yogi Berra, would be a blessing. Instead of throwing away Jordan Montgomery, Yankees need to get a few lefty pitchers. 2. Put a few fast contact hitters at the top of your line-up and let them get on, do hit-and-run and steal a few bases. 3. Yankees played too many games with Joey Gallo and Aaron Hicks and Josh Donaldson because Cashman only thought about justifying his cash outlays. Clearly you are right that Cashman and Boone (and maybe Hal Steinbrenner himself) need to go. We could use a bit more of the winning attitude of George Steinbrenner.

You know how hot the Rays were earlier this year? And how hot the Braves have been? Well, it's hard to remember, but there was a time a little more than a year ago that the Yankees were hotter than both of those teams have ever been this year. There was a moment where the Yankees were keeping pace with the 2001 Mariners, through about 85 games or so. It's crazy how a team can fall so far from grace, but everything seemed to be going right for them at the time. They were getting tons of XBH, working pitchers so hard in the first few innings of each game that they'd be gassed by the 4th, and their pitching was lights out, they didn't give up many baserunners and when they did, it seemed like they stranded them. They just plummeted back to earth, their big XBH guys are striking out more and hitting doubles and home runs less frequently, and the starting pitching hasn't been as big a strength as they thought it would be.

To call whatever the Stanks did a rebuild is a bit hyperbolic at this point. Standard rebuild involves tearing everything down, they did the opposite; they built an extra story out of cardboard on shoddy foundation. They need 2-3 years of at or below .500 ball, but they’re too afraid of the blowback. At this point, they’re not a special organization and probably won’t be with the current front office/ownership. Regarding Cashman and the early years. I can give him credit for the 2000 Championship only to the extent that he wisely ignored Steinbrenner's preference for getting Sammy Sosa and instead got David Justice for Ricky Ledee. There's no question that acquisition was the key to the Yankees ability to coax out a division title that then carried them through to their third straight title. He also took advantage of the fact that after 2008, the contracts of Giambi, Mussina and the bust that was Carl Pavano were coming off the books and that gave him the latitude to sign both Sabathia and Teixeira (if Mussina doesn't retire, he doesn't sign one of those two. He still would have likely signed A.J. Burnett) who gave the Yankees a much needed title in 2009. But apart from that, his record is overall a joke given his hanging around long after the last title. He's taken advantage of the fact that Hal Steinbrenner is a milquetoast who is deathly afraid of ever being likened to his father and that's why he is incapable of uttering the words, "You're fired" to Cashman. And so on Cashman goes with his total incompetence when it comes to assessing pitching talent and loading up the team with one dimensional injury prone players. Until he is gone, the Yankees will never know championship glory again.

That's never been their model for the past 40-50 years aside from the core 4 + Bernie Williams in the 90s. They always just bankroll the biggest names of free agency. It's kind of cool having a team that has many players that at one time were all-stars at once, and as much as I hate the Yankees, I enjoy having a team that does this. They overpay for players as a result who often go downhill very quickly. Name me 3 Yankee all-stars who came directly from their farm system in your lifetime other than the core 4 + Bernie. You can't. And you won't unless you play moneyball. Johnny Damon, Jacoby Ellsbury, CC Sabatthia, Hideki Matsui, Anthony Rizzo, Josh Donaldson, Aroldis Chapman, Gerrit Cole, Tanaka, A-Rod, I could list 90% of their roster of the past 30 years here and it would apply. I'll be shocked if they don't try and pay Ohtani 700 million next year, only for him to break his arm in 2 years from signing.

I'm an Orioles fan. No, I won't be rude. I will state that I did know the Yankees didn't have much in their system from 2000 onwards. They were winning. That's all that matters. I believe the Yankees need to drop the win-now attitude. Simply buying a lineup has been good for them. However, not having the pieces in the minors to replace the regulars is problematic. Judge is a force to be reckoned. A lot of Orioles fans wonder why pitch to him later in a tight game and 1b open. I did believe that Stanton provides the 1-2 punch with Judge in the batting order. The problem is that Stanton has been injured prone since arriving in New York. I don't know if he has played one full season. I won't guess on how long they will go with Cashman and Boone. I do firmly believe after those 2 are gone the Yankees may implement a metrics approach for their minor league system. Yes, they will need to draft better too. I'm not talking a player here or a player there. Look what the Orioles have done in the 5 years in Elias's tenure. The Yankees must follow Elias's example before falling off into the abyss. Again with the Orioles, I watched and attended games in the 14 years of losing. A few good years only to follow up with another losing streak. So, Yankees management: get with the program! Don't drag the organization and fans into a decades long "rebuild." I quoted rebuild because the losing in Baltimore was called that by the ownership, which had no end in sight.

They need to trade Donaldson, Rizzo, LeMahieu, and probably Stanton if he doesn't improve. They need better offensive players like Harper, Correa, or Ohtani, and better outfielders. They shouldn't have traded Urshela. They need some young players and rebuild, even if it takes a few losing seasons to have another championship season. The Yankees never let any of their draft picks develop. Any time z big name is on the trading block, the Yankees swoop in and trade away their prospects. But the prospects that do get dealt to other teams become busts, which proves the bad drafting theory is true. When they won in the 90s they did it by acquiring role players just like the Red Sox did when they won their 4 World Series. When the Red Sox acquired Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford the Boston Herald had a front page headline showing a collage of Gonzalez, Crawford, Josh Beckett and David Ortiz said "The Greatest Team Ever!" and they missed the playoffs. I believe you are also right about George Steinbrenner having called the shots. During the off season going into 2003, Steinbrenner wanted Jason Giambi because he won tne AL MVP with the As, and Brian Cashman wanted a free agent from the Minnesota Twine named David Ortiz and we all know how that went.

#1 we need to completely re-haul our scouting / development departments because with our resources we should be at the top of the league in developing players and we are probably one of the worst. When you have 4 hot prospects completely dud out (Sanchez, Bird, Andujar, Frazier) who were supposed to be vital pieces for our up and coming baby bombers. #2 Get a little creative and try and move on from as many big salaries we have tying us down

We’re way too injury prone. Like Cortez getting injured in the playoffs last year. .. stuff like that. We don’t have longevity at all.

Do NOT get rid of ANY of the current Crash and burn Bombers. Next year they can be put to good use earning their keep selling popcorn and beer in the stands while, on the field, their replacements the Vallejo girls K through grade 5 softball team will power their way to the ALCS championship.
