You don't know how happy it makes me to see you use youtube captions in your videos so effectively. I feel like part of the video is missed if you don't have them on. It pains me to see other much larger youtubers who by all means should have... maybe not as robust captions as you, but at least official captions they put in themselves, especially when their videos are literally them just talking for 10, 30, or even more minutes on and on. In some cases where they do have official captions, you can see that the captions are made by a third party where the words written don't line up with what they're referring to or there are spelling errors that should not have been let through because they weren't vetted by the creator. It's endlessly frustrating to see only the auto-generated captions or poorly made captions given only as a second thought as someone who has trouble hearing the words people say and really need captions to read along. I am ever grateful to your willingness to put proper grammar, line breaks, pauses, and even aesthetic flourishes into your captions. Please never stop putting effort into your captions, even if only a small minority of your viewers will appreciate it. It truly adds so much to your videos that I just do not get elsewhere. Thank you.

It's all thanks to one of my Discord members, the incredibly dedicated and talented Fevol! I'll pass along your kind words :) I'm so glad to hear these subs mean so much!

Hey, thank you for your absolutely lovely comment, it really makes my day to hear that you enjoyed/appreciated the subtitles as much as I enjoyed making them. Will definitely be making subtitles for this channel for all future videos! If you have any feedback on how I could improve the subtitles themselves, I'd love to hear it! I've only started making them the past year, and I'm still really looking to improve them wherever I can. Thank you again for your kind comment!

@@fevol_ Hey, you inspired me to take time for my own captions. I'm typing them out as an .srt file. Question: How do you include italics/formatting in your captions? I can't get them to work.
@fevol_2 жыл бұрын
@@pinkerhero Hello! As far as I know, there are two ways to implement formatting: 1) .vtt format [supports italics, bold, color, positioning and cue]: This is by far the easier of the two to work with, and doesn't necessarily require any program to make - though is pretty limited in what you can do. vtt is practically identical to srt, but you can use html-like tags to make certain words/phrases italic or bold, by simply enclosing them in or tags. Positioning is a tad more complicated, but there are some guides you can find online than can help (I personally recommend Mozilla's guide, but not every feature mentioned within it might display correctly in the video itself). 2) .ass/.ytt format [supports all of the previous + text sizes, shadows, other fonts, ...]: Making .ytt subtitles is a bit more tricky. First of all, you will need to install the amazing YTSubConverter program (available on github), that can convert .ass to .ytt subtitles - which you can then add to your videos. Make sure to read the README of the program, as it contains a lot of important information (such as what's possible, some example files + videos, and more)! To make .ass subtitles, I heavily recommend using either Subtitle Edit or AegiSub. As for adding formatting to the subtitles, well, there is a lot of syntax that you'll need to learn, but it's somewhat similar to .vtt (e.g., you make a subtitle bold by enclosing it within {\b1}{\b0}). Once you're done, you add the .ass file to the YTSubConverter program, and then you can simply import its output into KZbin. Note that when you add your subtitles to KZbin, don't change any of the subtitle text inside the YT caption editor: doing so will remove all the formatting you've added. I hope this (mini)guide has helped - if you have any questions, please do let me know!

I love Sakasama no Patema! It has this air of anxiety all throughout the film, in the real consequences of falling, and the fear of falling alone. Really Shinkai-esque but a with a bit more spicy world building instead of the deep character exploration in Shinkai's movies.

It really is a testament to the quality of Patema Inverted that I was capable of watching it to the end given my immense fear of heights, and recurring nightmares of falling off the edge of the world. To be honest a lot of the watch time was spent with clenched teeth and peering through my fingers xD

My body also reacts to heights but in an almost opposite way to what you talk of, being at the edge of a tall building excites me like very few things on this earth. I even find myself drawn to jumping off, not in a suicidal way but wanting to experience the freedom of flight. I did do the highest bungie from a bridge so as you can imagine that was fun for me, always wanted to wingsuit skydive but it's rather a expensive hobby.
