Hi Buckin, a week or two ago I was cutting up some firewood out on my uncle's and aunts farm when I had an incident with my saw. Cutting a small branch off a bigger branch and when the saw came down it cut the top layer of my safety chaps/pants. I'm not a religious man but I am grateful for wearing the safety gear and not ending up in hospital with my left leg in stitches. I always wear it.

I know you don’t claim to be a teacher or anything of the sort. But I’ve been watching your videos for years. I’ve been paying attention. And I’ve learned a lot more from your falling than anywhere else. Because of your videos, I’m a more efficient faller, more confident faller, and inevitably a more safer faller.

This is perfect. I was trimming a couple of neglected trees at our new home. Tiny job. With a million things to do I was lazy about a hard hat. I had on my Bluetooth ear muffs though and caught a big old branch right on the band at the side of my head which I’m sure would’ve taken a flap of skin at the least and maybe an ear. I’m no PPE warrior but man it makes sense when you want to hear your kids tell you that they love you. Love wins ey?

Now that's what a pair of boots should look like! Non of this glued and molded synthetics. Some of these new style boots with the molded soles have a thin outer surface on the bottom with foam inside. In no time this beefy looking sole wears through and then you are into the foam filler and the boots are shot. I have a similar looking pair Datons that I had resoled three times in a fifteen year period, each time sent back to the Dayton factory.

The semi chisel you were using, I use it a lot here in the UK, I know it is a bit slower cutting than the full chisel but, it doesn't loose it's edge quite as quickly which for domestic (residential) work is perfect with all the foreign objects you find in those trees.

Love your vids and skills... about the safety you are correct!!! The biggest . Oversight I wish you wouldn't do is not wear safety glasses especially when using the axes a piece of wedge.. or wood could ruin everything. God only gives you one pair of eyes and ears. Its all about experience. Buckin is feeling things in his hands when he cuts that can’t be put into words. You can see it on his face. When he’s in the cut, his hands do the seeing. I’m no pro, but I’ve felt that in the cut. He’s relying on his hands for info about the trees guts. I experienced and learned that bucking horrible mangled piles blown down pine. I can see it on the masters face! Onward Buckin!

I first started out using a chainsaw I knew nothing about safety. I wore a hat and one day I got a corded pole saw, cut a branch loose and it liked to hit me on the head, it dropped me to my knees and I saw stars. I quit that day and for a few weeks I had a lump on my head. I got a hard hat. I went along for months and one day that incident repeated itself, branch hit my head but the hard hat save me a lot of pain and being knocked to the ground, the hard hat come off because of the impact, I was shaken up a bit. Stuff happens. The day I bought 2 Stihl Chainsaws, I grabbed the on sale hardhat combo, and a month later I bought chainsaw chaps. Then I found BBR channel and I started learning more than I ever thought. I'm a woman I love chainsaws, I get so excited that I get to bring one of mine out to cut up mesquite, Palo verde are hard ironwoods in AZ.
