I used to go to all the Big Day outs just to see the Falling Joys and the Clouds.

It is difficult to express how deeply I have loved this song for 30 years, and how glad I am to have found a decent copy of it here. My digitized-from-an-old-tape version is nostalgic, but lacking in nuance....

I met the band in Studios 301, maybe sometime in 89. Great people, excellent music. Of course, as a junior engineer in those studios at the time a combination of pretention and not wanting to look like a prat, I never said how much I loved their music. I doubt they remember me, we played pool for an hour or so. I don't even remember exactly what they were doing there, maybe Don Bartley was mastering a single or album. Anyway, sorry. I've listened to the singles for over 30 years, with a bit of a gap in the 90s before everything was on the internet. This is one of my favourite songs ever.

Isn't one of the former members one of Australia's leading Covid 19 microbiological professors? There was an interview on ABC with Dr Norman Swan last year and it was in the last seconds where they said, "weren't you in the band ............," and he said something like "yeah that was a life time ago".

I’m a Pom who was in Aus early 90s on my way up to work in Thredbo. Saw these guys and the Clouds play in a venue in Canberra. Probably the best gig I’ve seen..

Absolutely fab band. I saw The Clouds in Sydney just a couple of months ago. They were amazing, just wish the two could have done a double bill. Far out. Suzie Higgie was a show stopper at the old RSL Club in Civic (we were probably at the same gig) in 1992, I think. Hey, I saw Alvvays at the O2 at Kentish Town last year, I am an Aussie, family in Nuneaton would you believe. They are so 90's and evocative of the GOB's, The Clouds, Falling Joys, The Hummingbirds etc. Don't lose it, keep going to gigs my friend.

@@Vaughan261342 Great to hear they’re still playing. I think it was 1991 I was in Oz. Saw some great stalwarts of Australian music up in the snow.. The Angels, Hunters & Collectors & Crowded House.. I love it, still listen to Triple J 🤣..

It's a fantastic album, esp for a debut. The production is great, and there's plenty of memorable songs. I had a unique version of it that had a song called "Shelter" as the last song on there. It's another great song by them. Their other 2 albums were pretty good too, though Wish List probably just edges them out.
