22:26 The point you make here feels like it will give people the wrong idea The way the minecraft mesh works is that it only renders the faces which are next to empty or transparent spaces. It's a technique known as marching cubes/marching squares for 2D. Minecraft has a version of it with no diagonals. You are not literally creating, or generating the land as you mine with your pickaxe. All the data is already generated when that chunk first comes in to render distance. I get what you mean but the way you worded it will probably mislead people in to believing that individual blocks are generated at the exact time they are first revealed

You have mastered your aesthetic, truly a masterpiece if a video essay. I look forward to your work in the future.

Found your channel from the Splatoon 3 Big run video, stayed for this essay. This is incredibly well produced for what looks like your first one. Impressive how you've taken a fairly mundane concept and made it really interesting. The editing is on point, you've clearly got a consistent style and clear vision for what you want your videos to look and feel like. The one thing I'd ask for - KZbin chapters!

Half-Life 2 felt like the last game that was truly my digital playground, where I spent so much of my time with the console open, noclipping, spawning enemies and staging monster cage matches…the fact that the majority of modern releases never acknowledge the tilde key is one of those things that really stokes the melancholic flavor of nostalgia.

i clipped into a mountain in the Cars PC game and I developed a fear of out-of-bounds esque glitches for years afterwards. This video brought it full circle, thanks

Wow, this is really good stuff! I found your channel through the salmon run video, and genuinely didn't expect to find this little masterpiece here; the aesthetic fits, the editing and pacing is very well done and you had me hooked through the entirety of the video. Honestly, in terms of quality and mood, this kinda reminded me of videos from the likes of Nexpo; although the topics they cover are a bit darker in nature, your video invoked a similar sense of fascination that I really enjoyed (maybe also because I love the coverage of rather unusual video game topics like this xD). Definetely looking forward to future uploads! ^^

Holy shit jerm the work you put in this video is incredible. The editing, pacing, sound design and music choice made this video feel like a legitimate short documentary that almost feels wrong watching it for free, like a LEMMiNO video. God tier stuff dude hope to see more in the future! also thank u for using saddest_video_in_the_world_traumatizing_scary_laugh__evil.mp4 at the end

wow, wow, wow, wow, dude! This is really really polished quality stuff! Now this might be my bias towards videos about games talking, but I was completely hooked thru the whole video! I really dig the particular aesthetic your editing style has, especially when you get into the more creepier aspects of out-of-bounds. I also enjoyed that last video you did with splatoon (awesome editing there too!), so I will definitely look forward to what you do in the future ^_^

There is a single time I recall encountering things Out of Bounds was genuinely terrifying. And it was in Spiritfarer. I remember messing around with Salvage Storage and placing all sorts of buildings outside of the intended grid. That was when suddenly the camera starting panning down at an increasing pace. When it panned below enough, there was an image that showed absolutely everything being distorted, with static all over and even the map itself. It felt odd because the game was still running (I could hear the music, and I could pause sooo). Anyways, the camera fixed itself and panned back on the boat. Much later, I learned that’s what appears when the camera goes below the water. But what felt terrifying is how quickly (-ish) it happened. I knew I was drastically messing around with a core system of the game. But who knew it would’ve lead to something like that…

Ive chosen to interpret the "curiosity killed the cat" quote in a very different way than the usual 'the cat died because it decided to indulge in what it was curious about', and instead in a 'the cat died because the inaction and building tension from not letting ones self learn more about what they are curious about and so then the cat exploded'. It can go either way is the thing though, but generally speaking if something seems dangerous but you are curious about it, idk man you do you. Not many can claim theyve personally jumped down a really big hole, probably because they aren't alive maybe, but hey who knows. At the end of the day, you are free to do whatever you want with yourself.

I'm genuinely annoyed at how little views this video has. This is something I'd expect from a channel with hundreds of thousands of subs. Excellent video.

I found your channel through that honestly kinda terrifying but awesome big run announcement you made, but I have to say, you have a great voice for video essays. Also, your style seems pretty damn refined. Your editing is great. This video was, at times, a bit unsettling, but in the cool way.

I genuinely don't remember my first out of bounds, but I feel like it was extremely underwhelming. Just seeing where the blocks end at the bottom of the screen in a platformer for instance, or going through a background element in SA2 because I went too fast in an unintended direction is what I think happened. I realized "The area out there isn't as real as the area in here." After that, I found where the blocks ended at the bottom of minecraft, and I wasn't really surprised because it was just like other games where I've accidentally aside from the fact that it killed my character, but I didn't think about it in any way other than "I guess there's like poison down here, that's why you normally can't break the blocks." After that, I just never cared about out of bounds because I kinda figured out then "The game doesn't go on forever, what I see is usually what I get." It took until I played Garry's Mod to learn what noclip is or what even actually exists beyond the boundaries, but early games taught me not to care, I just went the wrong way.

I remember my first "somewhat" out of bound experience, It was on Pokemon Black on the ds, I remember boarding a rollercoaster or carroulsel of sorts, and at the very top, the trees stopped rendering in, I remeber not even paying attention to the dialouge, I was just staring confused on why nothing was beyone the last trees...
