Great presentation. Very informative. The F1 is remarkable in every respect. Some bushcraft knives are very capable however a wooden handle and leather sheath does require care and attention. The F1 with the zytel sheath is perfect for all occasions. Thanks for taking the time to share. All the best Pete (uk). 👍

Hi Pete, that zytel sheath is exactly that, low maintenance. I'm lucky I managed to get one of the last F1DZ sold in Europe and from a Harley store in Germany 😎

If anyone watching this great video is looking for the perfect EDC "do anything" workhorse knife, The Fallkniven F1 is the that knife!! I personally EDC an F1x or S1 Pro depending on what I'm planning for the day and where I'll be. I've put both through extreme abuse and honestly I wouldn't be here to type this if I didn't have my F1 during a bad situation a few years back.. Stop thinking about it JUST GET IT!!!

@@The_gear_review_channel I like it so far, I've been using it daily for food prep, on wood for my stove and for carving spoons, for skin and bone wild boar and pheasants, filleting fish... The cut is impressive, it is quite easy to sharpen untill is shaving sharp (I use sandpaper), the 90 degrees spine works well. I had very small chips after boning wild boar, since I hit the bones many times I think it is acceptable. The handle could be a little bit bigger for my medium size hands but it is ok, no complains, the termorun is comfortable. Blade shape and dimensions make the knife very controllable and it allows precise cuts. The new sheath is same material of the old one, but is better designed with a good retention.

@The_gear_review_channel3 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy. Yeah, this handle is smaller than the Casstrom Lars Falt. Noticeable smaller handle. Feels amazing to hold even when wet and when the weather is cold outside, your hand won't get cold when you hold this material. I'll do a review of the Casstrom next year when I've used it over winter. Wanna be able to give a full review.

I fell under the spell of Mors Kochanski and "the Grey Bearded Green Beret," and was going to buy the Mora Garberg because it's a bushcraft/survival knife available in high carbon steel, but I no longer think I will; I think I might go with the Fallkniven F1 or Benchmade Puukko. I mean, I see the point in having a high carbon steel knife in a survival situation--you can strike it against a hard rock and get some sparks to start a fire; you don't need a ferro rod (although the ferro rod is better). But then I thought: how likely is it that I will ever be in that specific survival situation? How likely is it that I will be in a situation where I have my high carbon knife, but not have a ferro rod, waterproof matches, or a Bic lighter? For that matter, how likely is it that I will have my high carbon knife, but not have a down sleeping bag (having which makes a fire a lot less important)? Now, if high carbon steel were the best steel on the market, there would be no reason not to get it. But it's 2021 and there are many steels out there that are better--or at least higher end companies like Benchmade seem to think there are, because as far as I know none of these companies use high carbon steel. (Also WTF does "high carbon steel" even mean? I don't even think that's a specific type of steel.) Another thing is that high carbon steel rusts like crazy. I have Mora Companion with HC steel, and it rusts if it so much as looks at water. I live in the Seattle area: things are wet most of the time.
@The_gear_review_channel3 жыл бұрын
Those are really valid and interesting points you just made and ones I love to discuss. I do own high carbon blades and they need to be really well looked after even when in storage and not being used that much. This F1 just doesn't need that extra care. Don't need to worry about rust with it, I never have. With the F1, Peter and the design team at Fallkniven have had decades to perfect it and their other range of knives with new technology as they arise. That is why I love and respect this F1 so much. The survival situation for me and thinking about survival is what I enjoy doing and learning more about. Everytime I am out, I always bring a few methods of contacting emergency services anyways but also bring items that will aid me for cuts and breaks and overnight situations should they arise. Now, this is not out of paranoia but purely because I want to be prepared for anything silly that may happen. The extra few pounds of weight is worth the peace of mind If you get a model of the F1 it will be great to hear your feedback.
@jeremywang91483 жыл бұрын
All the pro survivalists would opt got Carbon steel for good reason, but that’s them, we are not in the same level and not the same environment. Just so you know, Mora Garberg has stainless steel version. That I would go for.

It is a good knife. However, is it the best? Come on... it is there with the best, but knives are very subjective objects. Take Bark River Bravo 1, which is of roughly same dimensions and intended use and is made by a guy who is hunter and was close to Bob Loveless. So yeah, I have many Fallkniven knives (A1 Pro, HK 9, F2, PHK...), but I didn't acquire F1. I opted for Bravo 1 in CPM Cru Wear and Bravo 1LT in Elmax. I knida like them better. I especially like the fact that Bark River makes their knives, after all, Fallkniven is a private label.

Definitely hands down one of the best for it's size. Made in Japan 🗾 in arguably one of the world's best forge, its handle design and overall shape. Feels amazing in the hand. I can't fault it. Cannot find one fault.
