@Choke And Bite It's not necessarily untrue. That story has been floating around for ages, yes. Now, think this scenario: Phil writes angry song accusing someone of letting a mutual friend die. Phil acknowledges the story. The media quickly identifies who the people were. The accused man sues Phil's eyeballs off for slander and the entire proceeds that song has generated in 40 years evaporates overnight. There is no way, if the old story is true, that Phil could ever acknowledge it. The only thing he could do is to float a rumour in private but officially deny it in public. If it's true Phil publicly denies it. If it's false he publicly denies it. There's no way to no, and this interview really tells us nothing.
@krystal77104 жыл бұрын
@@jsullivan2112 Wouldn't that actually be libel (in print), not slander?
@anonimushbosh4 жыл бұрын
Blaze Infernus Slander is transient / libel is when it’s broadcast or published so it would depend on the exact circumstances but for it to be defamation (slander or libel) it would have to be false and the guy’s reputation would need to have been damaged in some significant way meaning he would need to have been identified (at least) to some of his friends/family/colleagues. However in the US if the guy sued it would be up to Phil Collins to prove it was true and without a successful prosecution or very compelling evidence that would be next to impossible. If this whole story were true, identifying the guy publicly would be a dumb move, especially if it happened in the US. In the UK it would be up to the person being defamed to prove the harm etc (one reason British newspapers get away with so much shit) and the whole story becomes slightly more plausible. But then I’d want to know how he witnessed all that without being able to step in himself!

Fallon is basically doing the Chris Farley "Hey, 'member that one time you did the song with the cool drum solo? That was awesome..." gag but in real life.
@bobbijolane3678 жыл бұрын
Title should be Phil 'tries' to tell the story behind the song. Nobody can tell a story with Jimmy interrupting every 2 seconds. So annoying. Worst interviewer EVER!!!

If you think he's cutting people off you should talk to more contractors or timeshare salespeople. Fallon has very good conversation skills, I'm not seeing an abundance of interrupting or anything. Like, shit on him for his laughing that breaks character or something valid, but I really think he's too much of an empath to be a serial interrupter.

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

Bateman not being able to understand "Trick of the Tail" "Wind and Withering" and "And Then There Were Three" is what makes him a psychofuck. I think that's probably the only real tragedy in the film. Clearly everything else he supposedly "did" is a massive, delusional ego-driven hallucination. He had clearly never even bothered with Gabriel-era Genesis. Which, of course, is the stuff of magic.

I remember working in construction back in the day and we hired this new kid probably about 20 years old and extremely mature and intelligent for his age. The whole crew would take turns playing their own music sharing stories for 8 hours a day. He'd been dating this cute little chick that was beautiful but driving him nuts inside she was your typical all I care about is going shopping and how I look kind of girl and he was the opposite a laid-back Surfer that you could see deep down he just needed a solid woman. Anyway one day I turned him on to the song and he asked if he could bring it home to copy the CD. The next day the boss told me he called in sick. A few days later we're both assigned to the same job alone I was like what's up dude did you get sick where's my CD. He immediately pulled out the CD out of his pocket and gave it to me with this weird look on his face and said dude you don't even know? He told me that day he went home and had a couple beers which he didn't drink at all and listen to this song on repeat then his crazy little chick came over and started barking at him telling him what to do and how she wanted things done he said he was so moved by the song and it was an eye-opener he broke up with her on the doorstep and then in the morning put all of her little Nick nacks from his apartment in a plastic bag in the front yard and called her and told her to get them. He now has a successful landscaping business in Hawaii and married a nice honest down-to-earth local girl. Funny thing is this song did the same similar thing to me but I never told him. Life works in mysterious ways when you least expect it and music can move Souls.
