Fallout 1x1 The End Reaction

Recorded 4/13/24. I've been looking forward to this series for awhile! This non-game fan watches for the first time. Also, Lucy is the cutest.

Fallout is retrofuturistic, set in a universe where transistors didn't become popular so the development of electronics mostly followed vacuum tubes. This is why the first scene where the bombs fall, which is actually set in 2077, shows a strange mix of things which seem far less advanced and far more advanced than the real world - things are futuristic, but held back by the technological building blocks of the 1950s. This has a narrative purpose in the series; most technology survives the war due to not being susceptible to EMP (where integrated circuits would've been far more badly damaged), but also gives the series a very distinctive 50s aesthetic and vibe.

I love your reactions! Very heartfelt and thoughtful. Consider me subscribed. 9:04 Removing the knife. Its true in real life you should keep it in until a medical professional can remove it in a safe setting with plenty of medical equipment around. However she can't wait until she can get to the infirmary, with the attack underway there is likely no one coming to her aid. Also, this is based on video game logic and rules, she was able to use a Stimpak which is the injection. It instantly heals you in the middle of a battle. Clearly it didn't heal her 100%, but enough to make the injury no longer life threatening. Painful and inconvenient still, I am sure. 23:49 The technology differences don't have anything to do with California, it is like this across the entire USA (and probably most of the developed world). I see others have explained *why* their world of 2077 is different than our Earth. The second season got a green light one week after they dropped the episode on Prime. It was a huge success. I think the TV series plans to keep the same characters from season one into the future. Yes, the games all have new characters, but a new season of the TV show is still in the same story. They aren't going to start over in S2.

It's called retrofuturism and Fallout is considered "Atompunk" like "Steampunk". You can even have an 80's style retrofuturism called "turbopunk".

In this episode we don't definitively know that Maximus placed that razor in his friends boot, a lot of people saw it as a reason to be suspicious, and some people doubted it entirely. Still the horrifying question was posed, did he? Stay tuned.

no the black guy not being let in wasnt a racial thing. when you have a bomb shelter you only have supplies to last the occupants of the house so letting in even one extra person could put you and your family at risk of starvation or dehydration

Yeah, I figure it had more to do with familial safety which was afforded more to those who could afford the shelters/were lucky enough to be near theirs when the bomb dropped and fear of letting just anybody in. I was being somewhat sardonic lol

Hello! Thanks for the feedback...I assume you mean the screen recording of the episode (?). Yes, I am aware I can make it bigger. I have it cropped pretty skinny to not have the program I am playing it in show its ugly borders, but I can make it larger and maybe reposition it (I'm still figuring out what looks/works the best) for future videos! 😊I was wondering if it was hard to see or distracting so thanks again.
