Help for some people; Make sure to have Dogmeat with you and if you are struggling to find all the ammo or even the gun ask him to find them and he can track them down instantly since he is controlled by the computer, glad to help :)

I remember back in 2007(2008) I borrowed this for Xbox from a friend of mine and just ran around doing whatever. During my first play through at no more than level 5 I walked up to the Anchorage memorial and there was this weird looking blaster with no ammo. I was so dumbfounded that I didn't even think to look around for the alien cells (nor did I have any idea that this thing came from the sky or that its ammo falls with it) and sold potentially the best gun in the game to Moira for a measly thousand caps or so with no idea just how lucky I was. I gave it back to my friend shortly after and playing through the game again last night, this encounter popped back in my head for whatever weird reason. It was so long ago that I almost felt like it was in a dream or something and wasn't sure if it was even a real weapon in the game, but somehow after 900+ hours in Fallout 3 on PC and it never dropping on its own again, I spontaneously remembered the name "firelance" as I walked up to the Anchorage Memorial last night and somehow I found my way here. Thanks for the video man, thought I was crazy :')

This is random encounter, so it can happen any time you enter one of the over 50 locations which have the event trigger. No DLC required, this is in the original game.

On one of my low level saves, I found a few cells near the super-duper mart, so I started looking around for all the gun and ammo. Unfortunately, a raider picked up the gun and a few rounds, and basically 1-2 shot me. Was pretty shitty.

I have found at least 500 power cells (but I have motership zeta) and only the alien blaster but on one of my profiles I heard it ano found only the ammo I felt so stupid when I found out what it was

ClonesDream Luck has nothing to do with it. I had two different numbers on both times that I saw the event. Also, if you cant find the weapon, get dogmeat and bring him back to the place where it happened.

@XmyheartbleedsblackX The explosion will happen mostly very near u, so that u cant easily miss it. The weapon is mostly right under the explosion, maybe like within 10 m radius around it. Sometimes it happens so the weapon falls on some object, like a building or some random debris. Use a grenade if that happens, to blow the weapon down.

Before I knew about this rare weapon and random event, my first time finding it was at one of those signal towers but it was near the top left of the map, the spot has three towers together and the building and you go up the stairs, and I'm not sure if I remember an explosion, but the Firelance stood there right on the butt of the gun body, in front of the building, but the first thing I noticed was power cells flying off from the top of the stairs looking for everyone of them I could then walked up and saw it sitting there. Then not too long after inspecting it, in that same area, raiders started coming up the stairs and I tested it and it was AMAZING!

I didnt count the times, but this can easily take an hour to happen. Or 5 mins, its random. Quick save near (so the random encounter has not been loaded yet for the area), walk in the area and see if it happens. If not, quick load and try again. Repeat until you get it.

Even tho Fallout 4 has not been announced yet, its coming out most likely fall 2014, or 2015 at the latest. After Skyrim they need at least 2-3 years to develope Fallout 4. Within 2 weeks Bethesda will probably announce the game and we will have some new info about it, in E3.

@XmyheartbleedsblackX There is no one place over others for this to happen. Over 60 places for it, and thats it. Its random and luck when u get this. U can tho quick save near one place, walk in and see if happens. If not, load the quick save and try again. Do this over and over again as long as u get the event.

I had it drop once at the Anchorage War Memorial, I didn't know what it was just heard an explosion beside me and a bunch of Alien Power Cells drop next to me. Due to me not knowing what that was, I grabbed the Alien Power Cells and didn't look further as I had no idea a gun would drop. Boy, I messed up...

In general, Alien Blaster is about 20% more powerful than Firelance. Alien Blaster is also more durable, by double. However, if you have the Pyromaniac perk, Firelance is more powerful by 20%, with the fire damage effect.

There are 80 mini encounters and untold random encounter locations around the wasteland. There are several locations near Megaton. As an experiment, I saved and entered an event area. I repeatedly reloaded each time an unwanted event occurred. There seemed to be a pattern of weighted events, likely vs unlikely events. Mercenaries were the most common, then depending on your level, various animal, raider, wastelander match ups. The Spaceship Crash Anomaly seemed very rare depending on location. It happens most often in favored rocky locations, but can be forced to occur at a better site. I chose the destroyed building next to Tenpenny Tower as that location has fewer rocky outcrops nearby. I use XBox 360 and usually find all 24 cartridges without the Loot Perk. I avoid locations near bodies of water, buildings, and rocky outcrops as sometimes the Firelance and/or some ammo is unreachable. I usually play through a few levels to knock out some of the events to make the process easier and more likely to occur quickly.

I figured it was just another car exploding, it happened a lot in my playthrough. I saw some of the energy cells around and I was really cofused why there of all places were alien energy cells. Nope. This is the special version of the Alien Blaster, in the original game content. There is one Alien Blaster in the original game, and one extra Alien Blaster in Broken Steel add-on.

@mjsquared1 In the Bethseda Ruins, but keep in mind, this IS a Random Encounter, so chances are, you will not trigger the event. My advice, Follow the road to the Bethseda Ruins, go down a past the bridge. ONLY A LITTLE. If you go too far past the event will trigger. Save, then go forward to trigger the event. If it does not occur, reload it do it again: you should get a different output. Keep doing this until you see the Firelance one.

I was walking around in the wasteland when i came across the ammunition, i knew the gun was there somewhere but it was elusive, after more walking around i found it slightly glitched through a rock, enough so that i coudnt take it, i started to shoot it to unwedge it but then it flew out in to the distance, and i havent seen it since

@Orcidea in Fallout 3, right between MPDL-13 and Clifftop Shacks (a little closer to MPDL-13), and a little west. My 360 keeps halting. Have you heard about this problem? There's a farm silo, and enclave equipment in the area.

Every time this encounter happens to me it's always on some rocky terrain which scatters it around even more so. Suffice to say, I've never been able to retrieve the firelance... only its ammo

you can get more ammo if you find the normal alien blaster near the crashed alien ship. there are about two hundred power cells

there are two alien ammo types. Alien power cells and alien power modules. Alien paower cells are very rare and are used ONLY for the ALIEN BLASTER and FIRELANCE. The alien power modules are more common are used for any alien weapons you find in mothership zeta. You may only have wanted a yes or no answer but i know basically anything about fallout 3 :D

@SuperPitbull117 its not for this gun , its for alien disentegrator and alien atomizer and that ammo is called alien power module . For the Lance and blaster ammo is called alien power cell , and it is really rare , but you can still find a couple of them in Zeta ...

If you got the DLC's, Broken Steel lets you keep respawning puppies (with a perk), raises your level to 30 AND you can get more Alien Cells on one of the missions at some Air Force place. I think I read that if you start a DLC the companions go back to certain spots, but if you lost him a long time ago (in-game days) he might be at the vault.

Mabra51 The original, real, name is Dogmeat. The name was first used in the first Fallout in 1997 and then in Fallout 2 in 1998. Now he appeared in Fallout 3 again. Canigou is the name of the dog in the french version of the game, and you can rest assured that the french version has nothing to do with the original game in that respect.

@kitkat22244 with pyromaniac perk the firelance becomes the more powerful one. With out that perk i thinks its worse. Go on fallout wiki and search both guns it will show that stats for both guns and the firelances stats with the perk.

In fallout 3, the alienblaster is the MAIN alien weapon found in the main game, its also always in the sama location but with way less cells (alien ship crash site) also, if you have mothership zeta (i have all dlc cus i have GOTY) then you get sucked up by another alienship at the site.

I found a good (but might be very time consuming) way to get the firelance.go to falloutwiki (The Vault) and search for fallout 3 random encounters. There would be a map of all possible random encounter. There are two different encounter types. Red dots and yellow dots. Choose a yellow dot and journey to it on your map (i did the one closest to megaton). Before you get near that location (be VERY far away) save your progress. Then walk to the location. Keep reloading until the firelance appears.

try to find places that are known to triger class a random events, one of them is the disposal site near fort banister, you need to enter from the side were is the bunker like structur, the go in it and exit the door the other side, i will always triger one event so save before you go outside and keep reloading till you get it, even if you get it you could still miss the firelance and get only the shells, so reload the AUTO save that generates when you go outside, dont reload your hard save and go outside because youll lose it, once the event i set it will always happend with the auto save

I don't know if I saw the fire lance but I was in front of the citadel and all of a sudden I saw some thing hit the ground. I thought it was the enclave using a mortar, then I was thinking oh it was nothing. Then I discovered it was the fire lance, but it's not there anymore. :(
