It's common to get 500 or so 5mm rounds from a dead enemy that was using a minigun. On my characters who bother to stockpile ammunition but don't use much (or only one type), 3000 rounds is nothing.

Honestly never had trouble finding enough ammo in yhr game, especially once you have a few perks. Ended up with so much 5mm ammo and always felt the minigun was underpowered that I basically used it as currency. Just bought whatever i wanted and traded spare ammo for it.

GHOUL SLAYER'S GAMMA GUN Ghouls heal 25% more health upon hit (Actually it could be useful if you got bad guns and just waiting for the ghouls to kill some bad guys but the ghouls take too much damage so you heal them)

One big thing is that your companion can pick up an infinite amount of stuff once they hit their weight “limit” as long as you tell them to pick up the item off the ground, table etc

heres another tip, the game is sound sensitive. so just build a wall around the generators and the sound will go down to the point you cannot hear them running at all. best to build a two floor building for max noise cancling, and yes this works because i tested it. if you put a door on the wall, open it? it will be louder, close it? the sound gets suppressed

My main settlement is sanctuary hills, i gave all my settlers a minigun with 1 5mm round, equipped them all with miners helmet (with the light) and covered the place in lights... when raiders come at night it looks so pretty with all the moving lights and gunfire 😄

Eqiping settlers is pointless. If you not present for attack there is no physical fight. It's just roll against settlement defence Stat and you basically get a devuff to food and water production etc. No settler can be killed because there is no actual fight. When we visit settlement again debuff is removed and everything back to normal. And if you are present for an attack and a spawn happens well I assume you murder them all single handedly so still don't matter what they using. *it's actually better not go to attack because if present things can be destroyed and settlers killed Same goes for supply routes/provisioned. They will never die UNLESS you are present. This is of course because ONLY things around the player are generated. It's like a holodeck and the only part of world that exists is what player can see. Once you understand how things work...it a makes perfect sense.

@@frisianmouve well you can if you want but it is good to keep your ammo and a few guns in case you need them, you can sell most of your weapons, but keep at least 1 or 2. another pro tip, if you are going for a melee character then I would recommend getting a nicely upgraded piece of power armour to do it in, because closing the distance with enemies often leaves them open to do a lot of damage to you with their guns, so I would recommend wearing some power armour so that you can not take a lot more damage before dying.

I found a glitch for infinite fusion cores. if you put a companion in power armour with no fusion core, then dismiss them, a fusion core will appear in the power armour. take it off then and repeat

Just pickpocket the Brotherhood of Steel knights patrolling the stairs on the Prydwen... Pickpocket them, they'll get out of their power armour after a few seconds then they'll go back in. New fusion core when they go back in!

I'm used to games in which NPCs begin repeating their dialogue after, at best, the third response or so. So I was seriously impressed when I spoke to the same NPC(a female deck scribe on The Prydwen airship) five times and got completely different responses each time. So I carried on, curious to see how many unique responses I'd get from this character before she began repeating herself... I got to 63. Sixty. Fucking. Three. That's how many original lines the NPC in question came out with before I heard her repeat anything. That is utterly mental. I stopped counting then, even though she might have come out with plenty more original dialogue if I'd continued. The graphics might be(at least) five years out of date, the animation and character models might be shonky, there might not be any huge steps forward gameplay-wise...and overall I still prefer the world of Skyrim...but the sheer volume of quality content in this game is almost unbelievable.

Something especially useful to me was being able to steal power cores from brotherhood of steel power armor. Sometimes the "pilot" will get out and replace it, and you can stock up with some patience and a quicksave. If you have empty bottles on your person (milk, nuka cola, beer, etc) you can fill them with water, be it dirty (from a pond or lake or drinking fountain, etc.) or purified (from a pump). Took me ages to realize this.

Just find any of the water sources I mentioned with some kind of empty bottle on your person and a button prompt will appear (I forget which one). It's a good way to build up a lot of dirty water, which can then be turned into purified water (3 dirties becomes one pure) at any cooking station. It's a good strategy for the early stages of survival difficulty.

Build a set of wooden stairs from the floor section, if you want to go higher, add more stairs to the top step from the same menu. When you’re high enough, add a wooden floor to the top step. Place anything you like on it. Generators are usually what I go for, and then delete the floor and steps. Whatever you’ve put on the wooden floor will remain and float there. Handy when you wanna use a few generators but don’t want to crowd the area with them. If you get savvy enough with this method, you can essentially build a floating city

I'd like to do something about all the rundown houses in Sanctuary. I wish I could just scrap all of them--heaven knows I could use the steel. I've seen videos about exploiting the warehouse I-beams to sink things into the ground that can't normally be sunk and rugs and mats to move walls into walls (so you can "rehab" those Sanctuary houses). #4 is incorrect. The "1 bullet becomes infinite" for Settlers but not for Companions. When you give a Companion a gun you want them to use, you have to give them a bunch of ammo and check periodically so that you can give them more when they run low. #5 is not infinite. The boundaries are just a little farther out there in that southwest corner. #10 The new dog is assigned to a Settlement like a settler. The new dog will not become a Companion.

only those that get affinity from you picking locks. I think you have to wait 2 hours between picks since affinity checks happen only so often depending on the check. So pick lock, get affinity with piper, reset lock, rest 2 hours, repeat. There are many terminals that have doors attacked to them that you can relock after. Or you can not do it and just adventure with her, and you pick so many locks anyway her affinity raises super fast. Even STRONG who dislikes lockpicking will gain affinity over time with you even with all the locks you pick, it just takes longer.

Yeah, thanks. I totally didn't know you could buy dogs from Gene. Neither did I know that you could assign settlers do to certain jobs. It's not like that's one of the basic things in this game. Totally not.

To be accurate, it's only the SW corner of the map that really goes beyond the Pip-Boy's map border.

+Mareritt Can you not even go to the SE? I've not played it yet because PC isn't up to snuff to run it, but things I've seen of the map it looks like water. Can you not even swim out there?

CarribeanMonkee I haven't played in a bit, but I remember that you can only go past the dotted borderline of the map in the Glowing Sea. Everywhere else south, the invisible wall pretty much matches the borderline of the map. I'll pop in the game later to confirm.

CarribeanMonkee Checked. The invisible wall actually shows a full kilometer before the borderline on the map. That said, there is a LOT of things to find in the vanilla map. There are even top-10s just for random Fallout 4 things you can run across.

If you store weapons into your workshop, it makes it so you have more space to build. That little bar that shows you the limit of what you can and can’t have goes down.

I thought the Glowing Sea was from DLC. Never knew you could go beyond the border. Awesome!
