But the last news about them is that they fell apart due to division of it's leaders. Even with good intentions, there would always be a lurking conflict to come between it's members may it be for ideals or corrupted by greed. "I'm now it's leader." Dima: "I see. @T B Before the Railroad "frees" them, the synths are just weapons, no better than guns. A gun can't kill someone unless someone else pulls the trigger. The Railroad's accomplished the erroneous feat of giving a gun the ability to pull _it's own_ trigger, that's all. They've admitted they don't keep any record of the synths they've "liberated," so why would they bother looking into what their charges become? Simple answer: they don't. Enter Gabriel.

DiMA is the perfect excuse for the Institute and the Brotherhood. A synth who replaced a person with one of his own... really, if either of these factions reveals this fact to the populace, they would gain quite a bit of support. The Institute could make up that its actually synths themselves who replace people and not them. The Brotherhood would gain immense popularity... seriously, way more could have been done to Acadia.

I wish Bethesda had given the Minutemen more consideration in this DLC. I mean, in the main game they'll side with whichever of the other factions you join, but they still have their own cause of protecting the people at a minute's notice and you can choose to just obliterate every other faction with them- starting the hardest but definitely most badass war missions in the game. To me, they're the best faction to join and Bethesda really gives their supporters a middle finger with these dialogue options. Kinda like how the people are sometimes not represented properly by those with power, now that I think about it.

Same! Although, they do seem to be UNOFFICIALLY part of the DLC, particularly because you can build Minutemen objects in Far Harbor (minus Canons) and can get everyone Minutemen garments, although still, some dialogue options, maybe tell Preston or Sturges about Acadia or something. Besides, even if you keep the peace on the island between Acadia, Far Harbor, and Children of Atom, someone has to help keep it that way, and the Minutemen are the best to do it (so long as the Institute are wiped from the map). Which is why EVERYONE of my settlements in Far Harbor (and Nuka World Red Rocket) are basically Minutemen base camps in my game. Someone's gotta keep that otherwise lawless island in control with all those Trappers.

Even Batman has a plan to kill all of the major heroes in the Justice League if they go rogue. There's nothing wrong with being pragmatic enough to have a plan of attack should it be needed. DiMA seems to play the moral path of "numbers". Killing one warped leader with poisonous ideas and replacing them with a more peaceful replacement ensures less bloodshed on both sides. It's something most people would consider morally wrong but is more people needlessly dying over a disagreement in ideology between leaders?

Derekzigzag4 MLG The same could be said of any living thing. When given a choice, most humans choose to save more lives than less. He's operating under that moral guideline. There is a good chance that could change, indeed. You really think he couldn't have killed off the entire populace if he wanted to? Synths are highly resistant, if not immune to radiation. He could just nuke the entire island, do nothing about the fog, kill off organic life, and have it all to himself, but he hasn't done that yet. The end goal is simply a place where synths can exist without fear of being enslaved. They didn't ask to exist. No one deserves to be a slave.

I liked how you could finish the DLC without killing anyone. I took the ending which replaces tektus and then told him to run, but I think there's an opposite option whith DiMA surrendering that's still peaceful. And there's still the option of blowing everything up and letting far harbor suffocate in the fog.

I decided for the latter. None of them deserve to even live on the island. DiMa played god by assuming that far harbor and the children are a threat and made plans for slaughtering both of them, he replaced captain avery, so what stops him from actually replacing everyone on the island for his twisted idea of peace? Far harbor were dicks, they acted as if they owned the island all for themselves, especially allen who wrongfully murdered a preacher of atom. The children were a bunch of lunatics that wanted "division" to atom and would basically blow up the island if they could. I actually think i got the best ending;everyone dies.

I completely agree. The factions of Far Harbor, especially DiMa and the Children of Atom pissed me off far more than any of the factions in the main game. Yes, they actually angered me far more than even the Brotherhood or the Institute or even the Minutemen's never ending radiant quests. DiMa was nothing more than a sanctimonious hypocrite and the Children of Atom your standard overbearing religious fanatics. And the people of Far Harbor were your standard backwoods, isolationist, xenophobic pricks. Pretty much one of the main reasons I didn't like the DLC, because I either disliked or outright hated everyone on the island... doesn't really make for that fun of an experience when you want to shoot everyone in the face.

I have to say, I adore DiMA. Then again, as Hancock says, "It's awfully lonely for us folks at the top." The burden of being a leader often means getting blood on your hands to protect a people or an ideal, as unsavory as that can be at times. It's amazing to read the comments below and to see the various stages of moral development in people. The lack of forethought and inability to consider nuance in some people is frightening. I'd be curious to see the numbers, although I have a strong feeling that younger and/ or more dogmatic people tend to immediately hate DiMA.

It’s so unfortunate because I like him too, but I did choose to urge him to confess to Far Harbor. I didn’t like the subterfuge and deceitfulness behind continuing the lies, and I believed Far Harbor deserved the truth. I also saw that peace could be achieved another way, and should be achieved with the truth. An alliance built on lies is unsavory, and it felt dirty to go down that road. I did save my game right before I made the choice, and I’m not too far ahead so I may consider changing it and going back but it’s so conflicting to basically pull an Institute and become the boogey man that drove the Commonwealth to paranoia and hatred. I know it’s for good intentions and I’d love peace at almost any cost but it felt wrong.

He judges you for saving synths in the only efficable capacity within the Commonwealth when not only has he done far worse, but he's also provided no aid, no solutions and no apparent care about actually helping in a meaningful fashion. İf he was evil, he wouldn't provide Far Harbor with fog condensors. Destroying Far Harbor and Nucleus was only planned if they decided to destroy Acadia. İ don't know any good leader who wouldn't plan future of his organization, and wouldn't have any plans to protect his people, of something goes wrong.

DiMA let me explain why the Railroad uses fear. imagine being a synth wanting freedom from the Institute and wanting their own identity. now imagine if that very same Institute was something you always had to watch your back for. by using fear of having to go back, get your mind wiped by the Institute and being sent back to menial chores and labor they convince them to let them (the Railroad) be the ones to wipe their memory and get them out of town so they'd be harder to track. As shown in the quest if you tell the Institute where Acadia is the Molecular Relay only reaches so far. they had to modify it to reach Far Harbor far north. if the Railroad wipes their memories and gets them far away from the institute theyll forget they were a synth. of course it could fail and they end up like the synth that gave its body for Curie but as you said they volunteer. and even if it fails and they end up a husk people like Glory (who is also a synth) helps take care of them. so in summary they use fear to help them make the choice between potential freedom and going back to manual labor enslavement. of course an example of a freed synth potentially recaptured is Gabriel the raider boss of Libertalia (which side note is a pain because of the raider wielding a Fat Man up in the bed area.).

5:30 is pretty much what I can think of about the synths/androids. They're not human, indeed, but their use as in how they benefit humanity is what proves they're worth keeping around. As for Acadia, they provide and maintain the Fog Condensers that keep the Far Harbor (plus settlements) alive, that's enough cause to allow their coexistence. Though Dima still had to face justice for the murder of Avery.

This DLC further proved that the world is better off without synths even with the institute destroyed the synths have the ability to do exactly what made the institute such a threat. They can replace humans and control things for the shadows. Although DIMA has good intentions. The ends don't justify the means. I don't hate all synths but i think the world is better off without them. I love Nick, Danse and Curie though. Glory was cool too, but i had to kill her.

I really don't understand why people want DiMA to "pay for his crimes". He's only killed like 2 people and the people he's killed were a serious threat to everyone on bar harbour. The sole survivor has killed like 2,000 raiders and other shit so pretty much everyone questioning DiMA is a hypocrite themselves unless they haven't killed a single thing in fallout 4 which I find unlikely.

It’s because under all that charisma and philosophical handwaving, DiMA is a thug. His actions are proof of this, to the point where he willingly erases his memory of them to avoid dealing with the guilt. The thing about thugs is they are agreeable when dealing with someone more powerful than themselves, and disagreeable when they are the powerful side. Thugs understand strength above all else. When he talks to the member of a faction which can destroy him, he switches to manipulation. When he talks to the member of a faction which cannot touch him, he feels he can dictate to that faction member what is right or wrong.

​@@QualityPenDima always tried to avoid unnecessary violence. Replacing Avery helped to reduce Far Harbor's hostility, it was an act out of desperation. İf he was evil, he wouldn't provide Far Harbor with fog condensors. Destroying Far Harbor and Nucleus was only planned if they decided to destroy Acadia. İ don't know any good leader who wouldn't plan future of his organization, and wouldn't have any plans to protect his people, of something goes wrong.

I just love the Brotherhood in this game. Everyone hates them for being racist, but they actually live tolerance. Ghouls, synths, super mutants. They know how dangerus they are, and they are always ready to protect themself. They live with open eyes in a world as this. And yet you can bring Strong onto the airship. A super Mutant, who is rather open about supermutants killing for fun. The problem with synths is how fast they can change ther mind. They follow ther programming, which can be changed with a singe line of code. Dense is a paladin knowing all the secrets of the brotherhood, loves the brotherhood and hates synths? Just yell a reset code at him and he switches sides, taking all of his secrets with him. DiMA wants peace and stay in ther little camp? Just pull one of his memorys out, maybe he does it even himself without knowing the result, and totally changed outlook on life.

Does the dialogue option for the Brotherhood change if you destroyed them too? I wanted to see if there was a "peaceful" option if I told the Brotherhood about Acadia, there wasn't, I wanted to destroy the Brotherhood anyway for various reasons (I sided with the Minutemen anyway and I used console commands to complete Blind Betrayal, so I figured there was no in-game downside to destroying them. Anyway, I destroyed them after I did the main Far Harbor story quests, so I wanted to know if the DiMa dialogue changed if both the BOS and the Institute were both destroyed.

+Baker Tankersley Suppose a few top members of the MM could covertly work with the RR, but again if they are a true force for the commonwealth they would only 'tolerate' the RR's existence rather than aid their cause. You can't risk the entire MM organisation and the stability it brings over a few synths (granted I believe they are on level with people but there are only a few compared to the great number of people relying on the MM, if it were the other way round then I'd side with a synth majority). So yeah, while they won't attack the RR they'll hardly aid them.
