+norespawns Do you know if it is possible to use the rug glitch to put doors on the interior doorways of the Sanctuary houses? I want to put doors on the rooms in the player's original home, but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

Really raising the bar with this one. Personally I like the curved metal roof for making little shop huts, the height of the curve matches the height of the signs on the shops really nicely and there's less clipping issues.

I've been enjoying watching your Let's Build videos. I want to thank you for passing along the idea of the little spindly detail that you added to the roof of this Bar. I've been trying to come up with a way to make tall watch/guard towers that used something other than the floor building blocks. Stacking the prefabs was just the thing. I tacked the small defense posts to three sides and a door to the forth. Then I added all sorts of bits to make it look cobbled together and I'm all kinds of pleased with the results. Many thanks.

You should put some stools by the bar so it'll look like settlers are having a drink. Could you build a jail house somewhere? Like in one of your more secluded/isolated settlements, use the pre-fab hallway ends and the metal pre fab doorway as individual jail cells. Than have a mess hall and whatever else is in a prison complex. You could have prisoners wear tattered rags and police in the postman uniform (since it resembles an officer uniform the most). It could be one of your few builds that uses mostly metal instead of wood. You'd be making the Commonwealth a safer place and then maybe I wouldn't have to send you to help settlements so often

+Preston Garvey that's actually a good idea for the jail - also we're getting metal doors in the next patch so they'll be secure. Or - OR; even better - I'll wait until we get the arena DLC, as you can capture Raiders; which means we'll definitely have cages and the like. That'll be grand AF.

I made my first stall two days ago, and wouldn't you know I happened to pick the level 3 bar. Wish I had known at the time that it was the only one with issues. It took me freaking FOREVER. I assumed it was the ground, or the rug, or something like that. But (much to your credit, really) I was persistent and kept at it and finally got it working. If I hadn't seen you doing these, I would have given up pretty fast. And then the subsequent level 3 clinic stall went really fast. Figures. Great build video, as usual.

Interesting note about the power; power reaches as far as the power line can go. So if you press triangle, Y, or (insert PC keys here) you can walk with the wire and when it turns red that is the maximum length of the power radius. Note it will turn red if it is somewhere it can't go so take the wire in an open space and estimate the other lengths for the up down and other directions.

If you want to have an interior doorway there is a metal one but it takes up a whole square space. Just a heads up. Great vids!

For the PC, the Immersive Vendors mod (which is mainly about adding visible products to vendor stalls) offers an option to remove the sign from the top of level 3 vendors for easier indoor placement. Yeah, you'd have to wait for the update to add a "Bar" sign then, but at least you don't need to dick around with the rug glitch.

+Lytrigian yeah the fact that they made the shops the way they did, irritated me, because Places like covenant are a good example, I had to use the rug glitch to get it in and try to blend it with the counter right, and Had to dick around with it for like an hour to get it where an npc could get clearance between the wall and the wierd door things on the level 3 shops.

I really like your tutorials including all the chatter included from you in the video. Just a damn shame that we can't get rid of the brambles, vines, and weeds that find their way up through the floors in all the settlements.

Try the "Clean the Commonwealth" mod! Although, you might have to disable it every now and then. Sometimes it causes glitches like not letting you sink foundations into the ground. Still a really good mod! Lets you get rid of those evil leaves inside the houses too!

The light tubes that are coming in the DLC are Nixie tube lights (not lexie tube as you said but that's ok sounds like lexie) they are a type of cold cathode display. they were used to display number and letters on things like clocks and voltage meters. Oh and the bar not clipping of the fence like that when you do it from the front seems to be as a result of well basically the game will have sort of a list of the objects in an area and when 2 objects (or parts of objects in this case) are in the same space the one higher up in the list we clip the low to be closer to the camera (in this case the player). This is just how the game seem to handle the models and is very normal for 3D stuff to this (maya vs cinema 4d do it) although this is just what seems to be happening sadly my computer broke so I can't have a dig round the game and make sure. but you could get round it by making a big L of rugs and sort of swinging it in from the side.

Here's my problem (and it's with Bethesda really): I really like this build and love the idea of creating a seedy bar where travellers, wanderers and provisioners hang out, Mos Eisley cantina-style...but it's only a dark, dingy dive bar full of desperados and dangerous types to *us* in our imagination UNLESS we actually put a proper bar, from the STORES menu, inside - that's the only way the local population will actually start to use it. Just sticking a counter top and few tables and chairs ain't gonna make it work...and to get a proper bar *inside*...it has to be two floors high. Just annoys me is all.

I love your videos, your techniques have inspired me, and i've used quite a few of them, and with some liberties of my own. I made a clinic in Sanctuary. I would like to see how you go about building in gray garden though, making a staircase up to the two levels of the overpass and still making it look good, and not like it's just a floating staircase

I was wondering what you did with starlight drive in. I did the quest to clear it early on, set it up with 3 settlers (one on a supply line) and the bare minimum to live and have only just come back to it properly after finishing the story. now I'm trying to make it into a trading/caravan hub, (like bunker hill but out in the countryside) because it's a big part of my supply line network and is kinda halfway between sanctuary and the city

I'm making the airport my personal armory. I'm putting all my weapons, armor, and power armor there. I heard that it's difficult to get settlers there anyways. Might send all my companions there to occupy the space. When the DLC for fight club releases I will have Piper and Cait fight for my affection.

you can put doorways on those prefabs, you just have to do the flooring like how you did the second floor, you have to double stack it, put the prefabs on the foundations or a prefab/wooden floor on a prefab/wooden floor for the upper floors after that. so what you do is remove the floor right in front of where you want to put the door, place the door, use the smaller floors to fill the further side of the small whole, and if it still looks weird to you, you can place a rug over it to cover the whole. heres a link to a video for that if you dont get what i mean since i honestly suck at typing - kzbin.info/www/bejne/noSsaYCuf61gZs0 skip to about 3 minutes in to see how it looks and around 2 minutes in to see what works with the door wall and fence wise

I looked into gettin Holt from vault 81 as a settler/merchant but turns out I think it's Tina de Luca (from Dependence quest) that you can get not Holt Pretty sure :) (you have to help with her brother bobby and make him go off on you so the guards kill him and then there's nothing left for her in the vault so she goes with you if charming enough

Davey me old son, off topic but still on sanctuary; say you're walking into sanctuary from the bridge the 3rd standing house on the left. I can't put the roof on at all and tried so many angles. i think the issue is the garage. You had any trouble with this yourself? trying to work out how to get around it as i want a roof on the garage to put a little extension in.

Because the issue with that one is if you have already built up your original house, the player made structures cause the ceiling to go red. It's odd thing I know - if you ever get a weird house like that, make sure to remove all player made objects and structures that are inside or too close to the house.

Yeah mate it is and I've built on it too like you say so perhaps you are right. It's not like it encroaches on the space though and although I can't see when putting the roof in I don't think it collides with any of the player made objects on the player characters original house. Shame really because I'd only gone and built the world's best post apocalyptic house the Internet has ever seen and now I have to tear it down before anyone sees it :D Nice one for getting back to us anyway, I suppose you could say the morale of the story is to board up, ceiling and doorway every house before you start building upon them?

+Phil Mitchell I eventually got a roof on mine. I know the house well. I fought with it for a couple hours. You have to construct your roof stack differently with that one. There is one area in that house that will let you add your roof. When you walk in the door (which is off the carport), there will be a wall between the door and the kitchen area. That wall is where I was finally able to set my small shack floor that was my base for the roof structure. So you have to build your roof structure sideways. God, I hope that makes sense to you. I don't think I've done that house in my current play through, even if I did, I will strip it down and make a vid of how I got it to work. If Davey is okay with me putting a link in his comment section, I will come back and provide a link here.
